- Join me for an early morning shoot at the coast as I photograph coastal erosion and decay. Photography is a very powerful tool and by returning to a location year on year, we can capture the coastline as it changes over time.

There are no rules in photography because when you are out there you are the king of your world. Do whatever you want to get your picture. Really appreciate how you talk thru your process of creating a photo
Thank you very much and I agree ☺️
That shot of the grass n the steps is beautiful its not messy at all ,, i love that shot !!!! if i had to pick that will the one !!!!!!!!
It certainly turned out better than I was expecting :) Thank you
what a great morning to be out Kim , another great shoot and great images again ,love the ones of the steps ,stay safe and take care
Great how you got just the right amount of sky in the steps photo. Good work. Keep it up. I'd love to visit your area there!
Great video and beautiful images, Oh and a good morning to you Kim ...
I do love the way you express your feelins and emotions, congrats.
You take some stunning images and much of it has to do with your eye for what's going on around you with the weather and your planning where to be when the optimum conditions arise. You have a good eye for composition and its great to see that you have that in your youth. You have gained so much knowledge in your youth and it would be interesting to how your work progresses over the years. Though I have been doing photography for probably longer than you have been alive I am impressed with how much knowledge you have gained so early in your life. You are gifted I believe with this skill. If I were not so far away here in the U.S. I would probably book an outing with you because I am inspired by your enjoyment of nature and the great enthusiasm you show in your vlogs. Love your videos!!
We do tend to have pre-visualized images in your head. some days they don't come to fruition. Other times we can go out with a picture in mind. We arrive and something more epic is presented before us. Epic shoots happen but can only be captured by been there. Great images talk to you ignite the photographer within. Your images talk and present the joy and beauty of nature. Covid 19 has been difficult in so many ways. Yet nature has taken the opportunity to repair and reclaim its natural place. Thank you for sharing your joy and love of nature with us.
I love Findhorn, but haven't been there for more than 10 years ( I used to stay at the Crown and Anchor) and must get back soon. No beach huts when I last visited. Thanks for showing me the changes.
I love your "messy" images - especially the second of the stairs! I'd be thrilled to bits to capture any one of these!
I so enjoy your videos and your vision for a shot! Greetings from North Carolina.
👌👌👌
Kim it’s been a while since I’ve commented life has taken me other places but nothing as exciting as your landscapes...as far as you’re saying the image is messy it’s perfection it’s nature in all of its glory ....nothing we’ve tried to manipulate or fix or make perfection ....I always enjoy your videos and especially the placeS you go ....your thought process and the fact that you’re in embracing what’s coming your way versus trying to change it ....enjoy every minute and thank you for all of your time and energy in these wonderful videos and taking me somewhere where I hope to one day go Stay blessed my friend
Great Vlog, Kim! What a stunning morning to be out and about at the coast. Yes, the effects of weathering and nature's transformative qualities make for fascinating motives. I thought those shots of the wooden steps being reclaimed by the forces of nature were excellent, even if, as you say, the photos were busy. It's the ironical effects of a long timespan caught in a moment by the shutter that evokes a questioning response to the photo. Most of all, though, I enjoyed what you had to say about enjoying being out with your gear and revelling in the beauty of the moment. Not everything needs to be caught and held firm by the lens, it's the inspiration that coastal environment and that particular weather offers to uplift the spirits of the photographer that matters. Good photos will probably result from someone who's enjoying themselves out there and who's open to some natural inspiration (combined of course with the technical know how and the appropriate equipment). Thanks again for your thoughts on this particular morning. Cheers.
Thank you for your kind words Russell. I have to admit that I really liked the second steps photos in the end (but no the first). It's amazing how different images can look when you get them back to the computer.
Awesome shots. I learned sometime back to shoot from angles that people don’t often see. As in your low angle shot of the rippled sand and reflections in the pools...excellent shot. For us in the United States sticking to COVID-19 isolation your videos are like a vacation. We can travel to Scotland and not leave the house through your videos. Thank you for devoting your time to entertain the world.
Thanks!
Love your content. You seem like a genuine good person.
Great Video, lovely images and what a grand place to photograph. all the best ,keep safe.
Thank you David ☺️
Hi Kim how we all see things differently is what makes us unique and photographs are in a way no different, what looks messy to you looks interesting to me and then there's the your more relaxed about your photography since becoming a professional and I'm more relaxed about it since I retired. I could go on for ages about this but would end up writing a book so I will leave it there and just say thanks for the thought provoking video and until next time take care and stay safe.
It is interesting how we all see things differently but I guess that's what makes us all unique and exciting individuals. Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Thanks Kim for sharing your perceptions and experiences the influence of time on the steps was awesome 👍
Thank you Ross - glad you enjoyed it 🙂
What a beautiful location and time of day. I never get up early (unless I’m going on holiday 😅) I’ve promised myself to do it this year - a bit later in the year for a slightly later sunrise 😄
That was a great outing. It was amazing what the polarizer was doing with the sand ripples in front, thanks for showing that bit.
Glad you enjoyed it - it was amazing to see the effect it had on the sand and final image
Some beautiful images Kim. Coastal erosion is a problem especially around Norfolk and Suffolk as people have lost their homes after they have fallen into the sea. It is photo's like yours that document these areas so people can look back in 50-100 years and see what it used to look like, which I think is important. Great vlog Kim, take care and stay safe ❤️
I've seen images of the devastation down there. It's scary is some parts. It certainly is interesting to see and document over the years. Much of where I grew up used to be under the sea hundreds of years ago but not there's many villages and forest areas. Always fascinates me that some parts of the world are rising and some and sinking plus the rising sea levels. Documenting this in important
Totally Agree 100%
Break them all,the rules that is :) Am pretty sure i was away doon the other direction that morning.
Nice vlog Kim, great work and pictures
Thank you very much Dirk 😊
Beautiful video Kim with fantastic images 👍
Thank you very much Chris 😊
I enjoyed you "step story" images. Thanks for including them. Regards from Texas.
Thanks Gary - glad you like them 😊
Morning, story telling of our coast line, something I haven't thought off. Love the bridge and grass photos, messy is good. Photo rules are only guild lines. Shot what you think is pleasing to you. And you have a good eye for photos. Really interesting video and enjoyed while having my break and coffee.
Have a good week and stay safe.
Thanks again Roy - much appreciated and very wise words 😊
I always look forward to your videos
That's lovely to hear Roger - thank you
Love the photo of the stairs!
Thank you Helena. Have to admit that I liked it more when I saw it on the computer
Superb
Composition and decomposition... interesting combination!! Btw, we're not supposed to see those metal posts...they are what's holding our fragile world together.
😆😂 AHH!!
Hi Kim, great vlog & such superb images. I am sorry that unfortunately you couldn’t be where you actually wanted to be but I hope that’ll sort itself & you get there. But Findhorn .....what can I say 💕 as soon as you mentioned your location, I was saying , ooh good! I think the very 1st vlog I ever watched of yours was Findhorn! 😊 Interesting to hear you talk of the coastal erosion & also your images near the end when you talk of the polariser & the effects of the sand in those images! X
Thanks for the well wishes Debbie. I too hope to make it to my lighthouse location too but Findhorn was a great alternative. Glad you enjoyed the video once again 😊
Rule #1 is composition rules 😄
The trick I use when I "Must" extend my center column, I make sure everything is tightened up securely and then hang my camera bag on the center bottom hook with my bag slightly touching the ground to insure solid weight with no possible movement.
Photography Rules are just common sense guidelines or foundations that we can work around or with to get the image we want.
Very true and wise words 😊
Rules are there for breaking
Kim gets "mooned" and makes a good photo out of nothing while talking to 'the wind'. Is she a witch? (rhet.) No. Just talented and lucky.... as we get to see her endeavours, we're lucky too. Be well!
Thank you Alex - glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Photography rules are meant to be broken.
You've didn't like being here because your 1st choice fell through but going on and on and on and on about how high tripod was or how utterly terrible compositions were, just say less and made video shorter.
