Now THAT was a GREAT episode! I particularly enjoy hearing so many others answering relevant questions about motivation and experience in their sailing lives! Great Job Guys! Be Safe and enjoy your trip when you do cast off for the Caribbean! Truth is, I admire you two and the others who have found the courage to take the leap and make cruising the world your life. Even if it is a plan for a fixed amount of time (i.e. 2 or 3 years). This is an amazing thing and one I would truly love to do one day. Life and responsibility are the great barriers. Everyone faces these I know and I think that is why I admire Y'all so much for what you are doing. Smooth sailing to y'all!
Thank you very much Carzan. It is not an easy decision I have to say, but we are very pleased that we made it and able to show you all how is life , the real life of a live aboard.
Loved this vlog, Carla and Simon !! Great to let us folks know more about the ARC as it is a goal for me as well !! You two seem really made for each other !! 😊✨⛵️⚓️✨👌
Agree with your comments about the departure date for the ARC. Did a crossing in 2006 leaving at end Nov, arriving 17 Dec, 20 days (39ft Beneteau) and we did have at least 7 days with very little wind. I think You have weight up better wind v security of a group.
We were very well prepared so we had a very good crossing. We only saw one sailing boat the entire journey. We are very pleased with everything and happy tone on land.
Finally, a cruise for the been there done that. Did it once, and finally it's a bit scary but want to do it. The safety aspect about the whole thing is the best.
Great video. We are in Salvador, Brazil, sailed from Mindelo, Cape Verde, being a good stop. You are going to regret not crossing the equator, respectfully suggesting an early January departure from Mindelo, making it to Salvador in time for Carnival in February, perhaps founding an event called: ARC+Brazil.
Thank you for getting a microphone. It was so wonderful being able to hear all the information that you presented. When you post your next vlog, would you please put a link in so we can follow you on your crossing. Excellent job.
Great video and love your plans. BVI’s then winter in the ABC’s, I’ve been researching this too, interesting to see your journey! Best of luck, regards Chris and Nigel
Best ever advice for you old boys, dont depend on your crew, are you up to it single handed, prepare for that as shit may happen and your crew/passengers are entirely your rsponsabiltg if lost you face procesussion. Sail single handed for at least 5 years 5,000 miles without electronics then your ready. Regrads skipper john
Sensational vlog Carla and Simon. Loved your various chats with the crews of vessels about to leave in the ARC. Safe travels for your trip after Christmas- are you travelling solo or with other vessels? Regards
We went solo, just arrived in St Lucia. All went very well if you are not following us on Facebook. The journey was very good as you will be seeing on upcoming videos. Thank you very much for following us
Just seen the retired folk atempting this, with calm winds this could work, but given a trs, the arc will have the worst outcome. Suggestion, make kipper underr 40 and experienced in ocean without electronics. Regrads skipper john Lass pàlmàs fix it for boats engineer.
Your content is wonderful. I’m very intrigued by the ARC and want to get in on it and do it. Thank you for great interviews and input. Love it. But please please put emphasis on improved audio, so we can enjoy more. So so difficult to understand audio. So much background noise. Muffled sound. Not clear. Up and down, sometimes better, then back to muffled. Accents make it hard enough for those of us from somewhere else from where you’re from. Its English, but still not easy to follow. Sorry for that. No intention of being critical. Just input to help end result. Wish I was there with you. Thanks.
Nice words good talk, but having done it expect the unexpected, take bottled water, tinned food and a sowing kit for blown out sails, and navigate old school, because when your allfancy goes wrong u better well should know how to do without power, as an exercise try sailing without power to the island of Madera and back as a try, as I learned be a hardened sailer thats been in storms previous. Your crew crew is your responsibility to deliver home safe and sound, the atlantic is no playground. Good luck, but remeber their lies are in your hands and entirely your responsabilty, regards skipper john.
Yourll never hide from winds go when you can , you won’t be alone out there , others doing it , you need 150s a day and a cat should do it or more just go
Having watched these vidios i would suggest these folk stay in safe waters, they are are not up to to what an angry ocean can give. But best luck anyway, maybe luck will provail, but pleae remember its not sunglasses and glamour, sailing comes with risk.

Another enjoyable video.
Thank you very much
Great interviews!
Thank you Tom
What is the minimum experience needed to undertake the ARC?
That’s a good question, I don’t really know. We will be going with the ARC World next time just to make us go all the way around! Cheers

You can tell in the in 10:50 that she and her husbnd busted thier asses and made sacrifices to make this dream a reality.

Some days we did ,more than 150 a day, can get very uncomfortable, but our average was 130 a day
