Long time Duralast fan--they have treated me better than obligated inc giving me a replacement batt for free just because they didn't have exact replacement once (old chevy, didn't matter). My 2yr Duralast lasted *over 10 yrs* in my old 330ci. 4 yr lasted over 7 yrs.

So why did the car not turn over if it was on a trickle charger? I thought the point of a battery maintainer is to not let the battery die when the car is not used for an extended period? You have a ctek 7002, did you try to recondition the battery?
The battery didn't die, it just didn't have enough power to turn over the engine. I didn't bother with reconditioning the battery since it was time to replace it anyways. You could use the recondition function if you really needed to.

…so tell me why do I need a trickle charger if the battery gonna last no more than 5-6 years?…no point of spending $100.00+ should that be the average life span of the battery.
I've never heard of a trickle charger extending battery life beyond 6 years. Once you get past that point, it's a gamble. For me, it's essential for winter storage and routine upkeep. If I have no hiccups for 6 years, I am happy with that.
How not to change a BMW E9X M3 Battery. HaHa. Going Lithium Ion Battery...18-25 lbs. It shuts off when below a certain charge, so you are never left stranded.
Latest BMW M3 Battery P/N: 61215A40E29 92AH $250ish Select 90AH AGM when Coding.
If you change battery type (lead acid to AGM) and capacity (80, 90, 95, 105 AH), you have to code that first. Then Register the New Battery (records the current mileage) to change the charge rate.

I put in the battery that BMW recommends and coded the car as well. What exactly is the issue?
