Hey Sea of Stars is amazing, just finishing it now. Almost done with ~31 hrs so if you want to give it a try I can give you a code that I have for gamepass ultimate (its for 3 months I believe)
i think another reason backlogs build up as well is because the majority of people who have large backlogs are adults. they have the money to buy way more games with the money from paychecks, but they don’t really have the time because they have to work. the cycle kind of repeats, and the backlog builds more and more
As someone who doesn't play newer games much and uses emulation, I see this as an absolute win! Either grind the game your playing or lose out on the opportunity to probably ever play it again. My mentality is very much my own, just pretend it'll disappear from your mind forever if it isn't played. Because it might. Also based that MGRR representation is in every video I'll ever see now, like a parasite (SEND HELP PLEASE!!)
As someone who plays tons of games, I have now developed a systems to help maintain my backlog. I set goals for myself to beat a number of games per year. Last year was 30. Which was hard to do. This year was 20, however I was surprised with how many games that I found that I wanted to play. At 22 now.
I got over it by not impulsively buying games I didn't need yet apart from new releases. I'm gradually just playing through whatever I feel like playing in the moment
As a master backlogger with over 50+ unfinished games amomgst 4 different platforms (Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox and Oculus Quest 2) I think I have a couple cents to give about this one: For me, my backlog grows mainly because I feel like I dont want to miss a sale on a game I would like to experience, altough Ive bought games out of pure hype, curiosity or nostalgia. Now, recently I put a stop on compulsive buying sales or new games, and 2 big things gelped me achieve this: 1-I looked at my library and created an excel with 2 books, one with my full backlog and other with 2-3 games i want to complete to avoid anxiety. 2-Gamepass. This helped me with my backlog tremendously. Having all the games I want to play included helped me erase that feeling of playing a game for 30 minutes and realize it was not for me. Thanks to gamepass I can just move on without remorse!
@Brianycus Well, to be completely honest, it's a big part of their salespoint. It's why they are going hard for it. They want to be the "netflix" of video games, which I think it's a very good idea. I just hope that others jump on that train too (I'm looking at you Nintendo) to make a competition because this honestly looks like the future of the gaming industry. The only thing that worries me is the quality of the games, but after so many letdowns (cyberpunk, recent gen pokemons, mario strikers, etc), this is something we are experiencing even without a full transition to "game streaming service" era.
*since Pandemic 2020, ive cleared like 95% of my backlog and I'm Soooo Happy 😍 RDR2, RDR1, Watch Dogs 2 and 3, Yakuza 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, Like A Dragon, Lost Judgment, AC Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Binary Domain, Rumble Roses XX 😬 bro I beat SO MANY FUKING GAMES now all I have left is Gamepass loose ends, Yakuza 4, Coffee Talk 2, Atomic Hearts, Hellblade 2....then Infinite Wealth around May/June and The Man Who Erased His Name in the Fall....and I'll try to close the year out with Bully 1 and GTA4 FINALLY* 🙏
Because of you, I've just found out Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn is coming early November. Now my backlog is about to get MUCH WORSE lmao & I'm all for it lol.
Oh man.... the backlog 😅 ive got so many. Couple months back I bought FF 9 & 10, Chrono Cross, and Persona 4 & 5 after finishing Tales of Vesperia. Still havent touched them except FF10 cuz I wanna finish that before touching any other JRPGs, but I'm thinking of adding Tales of Symphonia and MMX8 to my list 😅 it can get addicting adding games to the backlog cuz yourr always thinking that you'll get to it once you finish x game but it's never good when you fall into that trap lol
Sorry, Left that comment as a bookmark to come back and watch the whole video this time 😅 I think the main problem, other than the prices (too expensive at normal price, or so cheap on sales we bulk buy) is as you said, the uncertainty of being able to enjoy a certain game. For example, on my channel I decided to start with bioshock cus it' one of the biggest games of the last 20 years, and I'm enjoying it, which is weird as I usually hate that genre and hopefully will happen the same with all the ones I bring.
There are a lot of games people...
Thoughts on the backlog?
Let me know below! See you wth the next one! ~

Yeah this is definitely a major case of the backlogs as I'm realizing this every second of my entire life. And I play games for a living
The problem is that now we can afford to buy all the games we want
When back then we only used to have 2-3 big games every year.
That is very true and that extends things to an even bigger degree
And they come out all the time!

This is truly a mentality of all time and I absolutely love it so much

That is awesome. I wish I had that discipline haha

Same honestly. And I'm practically playing games for a living haha
Where is your pfp image from? Like that Morgana grin.

Gamepass really is the only good thing to come out of Xbox for real.

I have two games that I know i will never go back to complete it so this video is definitely one I can agree

@@Brianycus Monster hunter 4 ultimate and bravely default

Yeah. Those deals man? They're financial traps 😂
I actually created this channel just to push myself to tackle my backlog 😅
I have 90+ games on steam, plus all the console ones
Good luck!
