Your videos are great. Love the balance of enough detail while not being too long. Really appreciate you breaking down the cost and giving some lessons learned. Thank you for putting this together.
My props won’t be the same as yours but controller wise your set up will be very close to what mine calls for for what I have set up in my yard that at 48 and distribution boards look to be the best route for me
if you display is all over the place then yes that is the best way to do it. our current show uses the F48 to run our garage, matrix and front of the house we use a F16 with a 16 port expiation for our tree and yard. next year we are going to replace the F48 with a new F16 with two 4 port expansions so that the f16 will handle the matrix and garage and then use the explanation ports to run the front of the house. less wires to run and a couple less receiver boxes out side if I do it this way.
Great video! You mention you like using ferrules with the pigtails - any reason you didn't either ferrules or fork/spade connections for the mains and DC connections? Also I find it a lot easier if I cut the cable off clean and then feed the cables through the gland first, followed by stripping the outer and inner jackets. That way I'm not fighting the loose strands in the gland, as well as bending and possibly breaking off an individual strand :) A note on the mains safety would be great.... can be very dangerous if not handled with care.
Hey Lorne, loving your videos. I really enjoy how you have them setup in the presentation. I also have that Irwin Wire stripper. It is amazing, so much better than any other wire stripper I used to own. I noticed you did each wire individually, you should be able to strip all 3 wires from the pigtails at once if you wanted. For your cable glands, what's been your experience with PG25 and running 4 cables? I've always done single cables with PG7. I'm scared of water trying to sneak in between the cables in the larger glands.
Thanks Justin, as the the PG25 there are super tight and with them mounting with the pigtails hanging out the bottom don't think there will be a chance for that. love the stripper also. off camera I was doing all three just trying to keep it very basic on the video part. gearing most of my videos toward the very new people coming into this hobby.
Phoenix connector can be found in a lot of location but wired watts carries them www.wiredwatts.com/tools-accessories. just a small tipped screw driver
Hi there, can I just ask what the other controller you mentioned was at 1:30 in the video, I heard and knew about the Falcon but couldn’t quite make out the other, could you please clarify what that was and who sells them. Thank you great video 😊🔥
Hi! Thanks for the great video!! Maybe the picture was deceiving, but it looks like if you centered the Falcon controller in the yard, you might have been within the 30' limit to most or all of your props and wouldn't have needed the receivers? If that's the case, what is the advantage to having more receivers versus a centralized controller? Hope my noob question makes sense, lol thanks
MNelson10000, while an F16 with one or two expansion boards port wise could of handled most of the props ( eave lines would have been way over 30 feet ) part of the problem and the reason why I built it the way I did is several fold. First the closer the controller to the props the more lights you can run on a channel I run between 200 and 350 lights per port ( as power loss happens over distance traveled ) Data can be boosted with an f-Amp but power can not unless you power inject and I like to run my display with zero power injection. Second reason is that you can only power so many lights off a power supply around 1500 -1800 depending on Brightness on a 350 watt power supply. third reason is that in all my receiver boxes is an extra board should one go out I can easily swap to the other other one ( or should my show grow I can double the size of my display with out building new boxes. Fourth reason, if some one should steal one I'm out a cheaper box which I have a couple of back up replacements built and ready to go. I keep the F-48 in the garage. .....hope this answers your question. Happy Holidays to you.
Hi Lorne, Thanks for the great video, really helpful. I have a question for you mention towards the end of the video about power distro and power injection so if a person needed to do that would it be best to add a second power supply?
it would depend on how big the power supply is and how bright you are running your lights. Steve Ni has a few good videos on Power injection. I personal do not do any in my display of over 100000 lights.
@@CounterHolidayLights Thanks …. I few people say the same. I would not run my shoe at 100 percent but I don’t mind being over say 35 percent anyway I guess I just like having the option of getting bright. And yes no family lights I watch all his videos. Thanks for your help have a great season.

I appreciate that! we try to find a balance which is hard to do while keeping them geared towards the newer people coming into this hobby
Great video - all the details needed to be successful.
Glad you liked it
Love it
Thanks Denise
Great videos, looks like our setups will mimic each other, you have two cat 5 lines, are they data in and data out? Thanks
no they are both data in one for each receiver
@@CounterHolidayLights OK so that data in those two cables are plugged into two of your ports on the F 48 correct?

they could be if needed or if they were smart receivers for the new F48 I could chain them internally

Thanks for the video - maybe I missed it, what size hole drill bit did you use for the PG25 glands?
I beleive it was an Inch and a Half hole bit. if you have a few just see if it will fit over the gland. thanks for watching.

Nothing wrong with tinned wire ends. Use them all through my display and haven’t had a single issue.
personal choices are what make this hobby great
Do you have a link for the network pass thru?
they were from wired watts
