- We show you how to diagnose and troubleshoot your blower resistor. The problem was the air conditioning wasn't turning on. We did some tests and narrowed it down to the blower resistor. Please let me know if this video was helpful.

I thank you just saved me the headache and money of replacing the blower motor😊
Great video, just replaced the resistor on my 2011 Cooper S. Saved me a lot of time and money, thanks!
glad i could help!
Great video very helpful had similar problem on the wife's 2014 Countryman I found the ninety cent diode which bridges the two outer terminals was defective Pt No 192KR1 C3901 you can do a check with a multimeter in Diode check function
Thank you very much. Helped a lot to find it and get it out
Right on! Mine cost $8 to fix. Mine was a little different resistor. Thanks.
Very good video. Thanks a lot. I have just made this check on my r56 mini one 70kw of 2008. My finding was that by doing the same check the voltage goes down in opposite way: then swiched off the clima conpletely - approx.. 14V with engine running. Then set fan on low speed - the voltage is 12V. Then fan is on highest blowing speed - the voltages drops to approx. 5V. And the resistor looks a bit different. To remove it - just twist it conter clockvise. Maybe this will be hellpfull to somebody.
Good luck
Hi, i messured the same like you describe. Not like the same in the video. You have an answer for that?
When the blower is in off i have 14 Volts, turned on in high, i have 5.56 or so.
@@bjornedling609 Hi, Björn. No, I have no idea why it is like that. Nevertheless I have changed the resistor after some time.
Hi, I have an R56 with blower doesn't work. Fuses are OK and I make same voltage test on my Blower resistance and all is good (voltage increase with increasing of blower demand). The Blower failure is the only option of my problem?
Well done great video on this common problem
Appreciate the video and directions... however i have voltage to the plug, new resistor, good fuse... yet still no fan lol. All good though, I'll drop the door glass and hit the gas 😅
ok so what if the voltage isnt moving at all with the fan settings?
Great video made this job so much easier many thanks for taking the time and trouble posting it
Thank you for your support👍
Thanks for posting that, I would never have worked out to push up before pulling the pack out.
I have a 2011 petrol countryman (UK). The fan is blowing, but no warm air when heating turned on. Would this likely be a resistor issue? Any suggestions welcome! Thanks.
Russell Goodman Make sure that your coolant level is full. If coolant is full then it could be an electrical problem. I would check the blend door actuator or the switch. One of the 2 is not communicating.
@@EvanFuji Thanks - I'll check the coolant level first! do you have an accurate URL for a countryman 2011 fuse circuit chart so I can see what name the fuse would be (if needed)?
Russell Goodman I do not have the wiring schematics for it but im sure itll be easy to find online
Brilliant video. Gave me everything I needed. Thank you
Sara Nichols glad i could help
so i have a question, my 2014 mini cooper countryman is blowing air but it will blow hard one moment and than slow the next? could this be the problem?
Chance Chipman From what it sounds like this could be your problem. When we first took the resistor out it had a lot of corrosion on it. We cleaned it up and put it back and it worked. To double check if it worked you can see at the end of the video we checked the voltage just to make sure.
Hi Evan, so if you run the multimeter test, which I did, and have the same exact results you do, but the fan still does not come on, that means the resister is bad (or fan motor/blower)? I still have no air blowing. Assume your test is post you replacing the resister, as I think I hear the fans ramping up and blowing?
Yes, the test on the multimeter was done after replacing the resistor. If your blower isn’t working and you don’t see the voltage increasing on your current resistor then it most likely needs replacing👍
@@EvanFuji Got it, thank you!!
There are tabs on the replacement that will need to be removed.
Thank you for mentioning this. I wasted too much time trying to force it in
Excellent video
Is this the exact same as a RHD model ?
Do you by chance know the part number for the resistor? I can't seem to find any online that look like that one.
Bryce Hansen It should be JA1885
Thank you, saved my day
Vic Karpov Glad I could help! 👍
Excellent video, I have an issue where my blowers when set to certain splits windscreen/feet increase upto setting 3 but turning it up beyond this all the way to 7 there is no increase in blower speed. Is this another symptom of resister? Thanks.
Thank you!
I'd like to add something else, I was having issues with my fan motor as well, changed the resistor and motor with no luck. Turned out to be the battery.
Do you have the battery monitor system ? We just swapped in a new fan an hour ago, still only blows on high.
@@79SRB I don't have a battery monitor, just got "lucky". My footwell module went haywire and I read a low battery could effect that, so $300 later, wallah. I just got used to freezing in my car. If you haven't changed the resistor, it wasn't that bad. Hopefully it's not the switch, I don't want to imagine what a nightmare that would be to replace.
Best of luck!
That’s a nice car
lainey barrett look who finally came around and watched my video
That's the blower regulator, not the blower resistor, fwiw
