Actually, they have a reason for this. If people attempt to replace batteries in properly it’s incredibly dangerous so restricting it to people who know how to make a lot of sense.

I love how mine tastes 2 AA batteries, which of course could be chargeable ones but I just changes them twice a year from an old package that has best before date from 5 years ago 😅
I prefer this too, good ol AA batteries be lasting like crazy on those computer equipments!
I use rechargeable AA batteries in mine. I don't even use it often, maybe once or twice a year, but it's helpful when I do.

I hate working on magic keyboards. It took me like 30 minutes to just get the cover off, and then i realized it was non fixable
Five minutes is not that bad when you can get the work done...
Changing AA batteries takes 20 seconds
“How much glue do you want?”

* Casually puts tape *
The glue is asshole design to ensure that you cannot easily fix the unit. The tape is there to prevent chaffing on the power leads and dead shorting a lithium battery. Poof.
Apple definitely does NOT want you snooping around in this keyboard.
”No reason for that… so I’ll add tape, which does the same thing.” So there was a reason 😂
Well the reason he says no reason for that is because of the difficulty that little hole causes, if you've never touched those ribbon cables, they are pretty easy to rip, so that weird frame thing is kind of bad design

That much glue is likely for sturdiness and rigidity (so that it feels solid)

That was a surprisingly easy repair considering it's an Apple device.
Also it probably would have been a good idea to cut the piece of plastic off that was where the cable was supposed to go for the battery if you're not going to use it. It probably isn't structural so it's probably safe.
You know those Yenkee super thin keyboard? Udk the exact name. They are super thin and have just a thicker part in the upper portion where the battery is. It's impossible to take them apart without breaking it
This is why I will never use appl products. They always have weird design choices that make them less visually appealing or harder to use or repair. A good example is the apple lightning cable. It doesn't need to exist. Just use USB-C like every other device that uses it.
The glue is for it resistant to open. They make user give up and tell them to buy new one

My Apple keyboard is 8 years old and still last weeks without needing to charge. Tbf I didn’t use it for about 2 years at one point but 6 years still having a battery life over 2 weeks
They made the battery removable but not the backpart 😂

My 2005 wireless keyboard still last more than an hour with it’s original battery.

Hey i have a really odd question. What does it take to work in tech repair? Do you need some kind of diploma for it to be legal?

thats great to know how to remove battery, my magic keyboard that came with imac a year ago started malfuctioning so bluetooth works and doesnt whenever it wants meaning i need to plug it in to use, i tried reseting it but ya im either stupid or they are, use shift option then click bluetooth setting and factory reset, easy right? asuming you have shift and option to press and no it doesnt work wired to factory reset

The battery could last 10 years if you don’t constantly leave it plugged in and fully charged. Remember how bad degradation was with the original AirPods that always charged to a true full?

I know it’s annoying but you really should have re threaded that cable to sit underneath. Now the power wire ribbon is in a pinch point under pressure. I would have been mad if it were mine.
