I recently picked up a pair of lenses that were labeled as Vivitar lenses, but they were both made for Vivitar by Tokina. 1) 135mm f2.8, 15 blade vertion. A really nice lens. The ability to always have round bokeh balls it=s super cool. And the bokeh of the lens is very nice. Its also and very sharp lens, even at 2.8 and the colors and contrast are very strong and punchy. The other is a Auto Zoom Vivitar 35mm-105mm f3.5. This one I bought because I have never tried a vintage zoom before and this one was priced right. It turns out that this was also a great buy. I was blown away with how sharp it was. I thought it was gonna be a blurry mess. Its sharp across the focal range, the colors are very similar to the 135 lens, strong and punchy. Contrast is a little less strong, but still good and very useable. It has a "Close Focus" feature that is very interesting to use across the focal range. So it has 4 rings, focus, closer focus feature, zoom and aperture. Tokina did a great job with both these lenses!
It sounds like you made a good buy! As you can see, I was very impressed by this little lens. Tokina made lenses for some really popular systems, so they must've known what they are doing!
Wow man, your production quality is getting better for each episode. Not to mention the content! This was a great watch. Also very cool with the Google Maps thing so we could see where you were, makes it easier to imagine what your part of the world looks like and I love that! I have a very similar lens (perhaps even the same one?) but for a different lens mount. I haven't discovered if mine has the same swirly bokeh effect though, but absolutely gotta check it out now! Very informative video as well. You clearly know what you're doing. The shot at around 12:42 was probably my favourite. Great stuff as always, man! Looking forward to the next one :) Cheers from a much colder Sweden, haha!
Thanks so much, as always! Inwas afraid the Google Maps thing might be weird, then I thought "who cares", so I am glad you liked it! That shot that you like - I do too, but I almost feel like it is still too wide.... maybe should take a 35mm lens and redo it, one day.
Nice video! Thanks a lot. Got this lens with the OM-1 I just bought. The entire set, including this lens, is almost brand new. Really eager to test it, both on the OM-1 and on my digital Sony's.
@danienelphoto I did get very lucky. A cool large vintage camera case, with inside it: an OM-1 body with f1.8 50mm kit lens and an original Olympus leather casing, the Tokina lens from your video, a flasher, a 90s point-and-shoot camera and two film rolls. Booklets for everything included, everything in minty mint condition. It all feels semi-unused. Price: 75 euro. Not bad at all. Hope you'll have a similar score with your future OM!
I recently stumbled upon this channel. Briefly finished a few. And I gotta say I really love how unique and different the content here is compared to UA-cam as a whole. In a sea of similar content it’s nice to see a breath of fresh air. This channel is so underrated tbh, and it’s only a matter of time before this grows and evolves even more. Anyways! I really enjoy what you’re doing. Easiest sub I ever made. Please hmu 🤙 if you ever want to do a collab or something fun! 🎉
Hello Daniel, found your page recently and finding it very helpful! Wanted to ask if you know of any stores in SA where it would possible to get vintage glass?
Hi Aben, yes, you can try: www.keysers.co.za, sometimes www.cameraworld.co.za has some, www.photographicgear.co.za, storeroom.cpt, vintagecameradeals.co.za ... kameraz.co.za
Thanks for the tips on composition that you've mixed in with the technical information on the lens. That was intelligent commentary. Cheers.
Thank you for watching, Eddy, and I am glad you enjoyed that! I am more passionate about that than gear, actually.

I also have that lens in M42 mount. Use it only for shooting B&W film. Really nothing to complain about with this lens.
Indeed a dependable lens!
My wife bought me a PK mount one as an engagement present 40 years ago, that went many years ago but I now have one in OM mount and it's a decent lens
Cool. Mine is the OM too. As far as cheap wide angles go, this is defintely one of the better ones I have used.

I am keen to get an OM at some point, and that sounds like a great set you have. I think you will enjoy the Tokina, it really is a neat little lens.

That is a good haul for 75E!

Thank you very much for your kind words. It is really appreciated. You seem to be a unique creator yourself! Love the energy :)
