    My favorite feature is that the split focus is at an angle, This makes it very fast to focus on vertical and horizontal lines. Got mine as a backup for my Pentax ME super. Ended up liking it more.

      That is a good point, I didn't even really take note of that, but now that you say it, it does make it easier, especially on mid frame horison lines.

    I've got three Ricoh cameras. KR5, KR10 (since 1980) and KR10 Super. I've owned them for years and now have Pentax lenses on them. None have ever let me down. Very underrated, cheap & cheerful little cameras. Recommended.

      Thanks for your input. I have been a long time Pentax fan, and Ricoh who makes Pentax chose to keep Ricoh manufacture in Japan, which I think has to do with their good build quality.

    I have and use this camera along with the Super II. Never a problem with either of them. Thanks for the video.

      See! It is a thing to get $5 cameras. Best buy you could have at that price.

    i found a KR-superII in a spare parts bin with a broken frame counter and missing battery cover. i made an adapter with diodes so it could take modern batteries, and the light meter works well, shutter is accurate on most settings and is only a 3rd stop off at most on some. i adore that little camera

      Wow, I have respect for anyone that can bring a camera or lens back to life. Bar cleaning battery contacts and replacing a light seal, I can't do much else. KR-Super (s) have a great "feel", and their ergonomics is great. Moreover, I think they look pretty cool too. Thanka for checking out the video, I appreciate it.

    I have this camera along with a ton of other Pentax k mount cameras including MX, LX, k1000, Super Program, KX etc etc... It was my moms camera... this thing sat in a damp garage for 30 years before i found it. threw some batteries in it and it came right back to life. and it just works... prob never serviced, shutter is accurate, everything worked... timer, meter is accurate, and its just one of those cameras that you can always count on being reliable... its everything you need, and nothing you don't. It takes Pentax glass, tho the rikenon 50 f2 is actually good.. sharper even than my pentax 50 1.4s to my suprise.. It has slightly less slow shutter speeds, but is better that the k1000 in my opinion and can be had for practically nothing.. its worth twice as much with portra 800 in it... great alternative to learn on and get into 35mm photography for like 40$

      Exactly! I am a K1000 fan no doubt, but I love the Ricoh, and is definitely an easier tool to use. I love the simplicity, but it is simple in a way that is efficient. I am about to start testing a Novoflex 400mm with PK mount, and I will be using the Ricoh, rather than the K1000.

    That's a great review. I never knew about the self timer mirror lock up - I hope my KR-10 has it! Super results with the Fuji film too! I think my next "in depth" is going to be revisiting my Chinon CE-4, which seems to be another good budget option with the K-Mount. Keith

      Thank you very much, Keith! It seems like most Chinons are great Pentax/Ricoh substitutes. I think I need to get one to fill out the K-mount extended family :)

    I found this camera in my grandpa's stuff. It is in great condition, but I unlocked the lens once and since I've put it back on I can't unscrew it anymore, and the aperture lens doesn't move anymore (it stays fully open). What should I do ?

    • @danienelphoto
      @danienelphoto  6 місяців тому

      Hi - good find! The lens fits to the camera body with "bayonet" mount, so it doesn't "unscrew" (that is obviously if it is exactly the same camera :) ). It fits in with a solid "click". So when you hold the camera pointing the lens away from you, there is a button on the left of thr lens against the camera body that you press and you turn the lens. If this doesn't work there might be a bit of an issue there and I can't say unless I see it :). In terms of the aperture ring - it has an "A" setting (Again, this is if it is a 50mm Rikonon F2). If it is set on that, the aperture ring don't move, unless you press the small little button on the side of the aperture ring and then turn it. I hope this helps! Feel free to drop me a DM on my Insta @danienelphoto with pics/video and I will.see if I can be of assistance.

      Thank you for your answer !
      Yes it really is this exact camera, but unfortunately I think it really is stuck, I've tried everything... I just don't want to risk breaking it so it's fine I'll just use it with the aperture open. I'm sure I will still be able to take nice pictures during my trip to Ireland in a few months. I even have a working Starblitz flash and I can't wait to try those out !

      The aperture "closes down" once you shoot, but stays open for composing, in its normal opration. See if itcloses down as the shutter fires?

      I did not know about the Nikon EM. White label manufacturing is the way most manufacturers stay afloat, in lots of industries.

    I found this camera at a garage sale it’s my first film camera!! when I press the shutter button is does no fire do you have any advice i’ve been trying to search it up but I can’t find anything

      @danienelphoto  4 місяці тому

      Congrats! If you have wound on the film lever, then the shutter is cocked. You have to then pull the lever back about 30 deg, the lightmeter will switch on and the shutter should work, if the camera is in working condition.

    I sold one of these with a broken lens for $20... Ended up converting that to a Vivitar Series 1 lens (knock off).
    Was told to stay away from these, because they crap out.

      I suppose I will have to see, I haven't had it too long. The build is very sturdy, and the mechanics 'sound' good (for what it's worth!). I feel more confident with it than the Praktica TL1000 - a great cheapie too - and that one also just keeps working.
