Last month whilst on holiday in the UK from Australia, I took my grand kids to Scarborough to show them where I, as a toddler dug on the sands and had cruises on the "Caronia" and "Thornwick Bay" if I remember their names correctly, while an old sea dog played "Anchors Away" on an accordion. Back in the 21st century, the weather was atrocious, but we all loved the day.
    Thanks for the memories.

Thank you for the comments : Yes - back in the 1950s and 1960s Scarborough was a smashing place to be -things have changed, mainly due to travel abroad but we still have the fantastic beaches and scenery. I don`t remember the Thornwick bay but we did have 3 boats that were a regular feature of the harbour, taking trips up and down the coast. Coronia, Regal Lady and Yorkshire lady.
