Really nice job, Jason. There's something about this neighborhood that sticks with you, no matter how long you're gone.

Thank you for creating this great video with the old pics of good ole Astoria, Queens, New York. My maternal grandparents moved to Astoria with their 3 children at the time in the summer of 1964. I was born in Flushing Hospital in the end of 1974 and raised in Astoria from a week old infant. I left Astoria in the summer of 2002 to Brooklyn, NY which I now live. When I left Astoria, i felt heart-broken to leave good neighborhood that I grew up in for the last 27 years of my life. We moved all around numerous times due to damaged and atrocious living conditions which was one of the things I hated it, but we had to stay there because it was conveniently closer to my maternal grandparents and my maternal grandfather loved Astoria up until his death occurred in the fall of 2010. From time to time, I do go to Astoria whenever events are taking place there. I have no blood relatives left in Astoria anymore. My mom left Astoria in 2012 to Flushing, Queens, New York. My sister left Astoria in 2013 because she was enrolling to grad school in Boston. That's pretty much our story.

Great video! I was born in New York City and lived in Astoria and I was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church on Ditmars Blvd and 29th street and lived on Cresant St. I have special memories of Astoria and New York!

Terrific video. My family moved to Astoria in 1941 when I was 4 years old. I lived there until 2003. I live on Long Island now. I moved away, because there were so many changes in Astoria, and I didn't recognize it as the great place I grew up in. Astoria of old, will always be in my heart.

Thank you for posting this video. My family are Astorians since the early 1900's and know well what the old photographs are. I sadly moved to Elmhurst, NY in 1998 but go home often. I grew up on 43rd St between Broadway & 31st Avenue. Well done and thanks for the memories.

Where I grew up...I can still remember our 3-story apartment flat on the corner of Steinway and GCP. It used to have an Italian-American Social Club (ahem) on the ground floor. That place is now a silk store. I remember old PS7...and the Army/Navy Store in that pie-shaped building in Astoria Square...where I used to wait for the bus after school. Most of all, I remember the Italian Deli just around the corner from Steinway and GCP.

WOW. I lived in Astoria from 1969 to 1980 on 30th avenue... Since then I live in Europe. Well done! Brought a few tears to my eyes.. can't wait to visit Astoria again and remember the good old '70s when I was a kid.

Thank you Jason for the video. I enjoyed it very much. I have some pictures and information of Astoria from the past I found in my mother's drawer when she passed away. When I look back into her stuff I will share it with you. I haven't done it yet because she passed away a few years ago and its hard to go into that room with all her stuff.

Oh thank you so much! I was born in Flushing General in 1943 and baptized in the Precious Blood Church. The first seven years of my life, we lived at 33-10 33rd Street in a walk up. The Bankheads were our neighbors. My mother purchased a Steinway upright piano. My Dad used to take me to the local drug store to drink egg creams. Then we moved to West Hempstead for clean air and no crime. Thank you so very very much

Sweet. I lived on 43rd st in the mid 80's, and grew to love the obvious history of the neighborhood. Nice to see someone trying to document it.

It's not a polished video but I love it. Excellent stuff.
I especially like how you started it out with your family's history in Astoria.
    Wonderful. Thank you very much.

Anybody remember The Venice Pizzaria, with the wonderful wood lattice-work walls in the outdoor area? This were good days...very good days.

Great job, Jason, for capturing the "spirit of Astoria", but that's not "North Beach" in the photo. That's Shore Boulevard and Astoria Park. "North Beach" was a big swimming/amusement area where the present-day LaGuardia Airport is located.

I'm not so sure you are correct, the archive photo had it listed as North Beach.
