The best entry-level e-MTB? - Haibike AllMtn2 review

  • While its looks aren’t for everyone, Haibike’s AllMtn 2 makes for a great first step into the world of e-mountain bikes, especially for those who are looking to push themselves and their bike. That’s thanks to a properly sorted geometry and a raft of modern standards, which makes it ripe for upgrades. While its powerful Yamaha motor is a stand-out feature, its weight noticeably affects its handling, and there are some questionable spec choices.

I had a 2020 Haibike Allmtn 2.0 with the Yamaha PW-2 motor and absolutely loved it. The suspension and brakes were one level up from the new one but the battery and frame geometry is better on the 2023. My biggest complaint with Haibike is that they don't sell their bikes in the USA anymore. They have abandoned us like a husband who has left his wife for his younger secretary.

I Got that bike in other colour & Alltrack 6 which got pw s2 motor i sure it got same Torque in eco+ to Hi as Allmtn 2 it only 85Nm in expw otherwise 75Nm same as Alltrack 6 and Hardtail rides easier in lower power modes than pw x3 Motor so both use same battery which gives spare Battery if go places

just picked up an Nduro 7 and cant say i've noticed any of the drag you mention. unlike the Bosch that has a lot of resistance when you stop peddling. To me the Bosch feels a little more powerful but there isnt much in it. good review. thanks!

An entry level e-MTB for $4,600? I think you guys have completely lost sight of what the average Joe Public can afford.

Yes, there are cheaper e-mountain bikes about such as Decathlon's Rockrider E-ST100 at below £1k... But would you want to take that down what the AllMtn2 is capable of?
There's entry-level and then there's affordability. Buy that affordable Rockrider but you'll be stuck riding blues and it'll be very limited when the time comes to upgrade... And then most likely you'll be looking to upgrade the whole bike if you catch the bug. After which, there's a good chance that you'll have spent more than £4,600.
The reason the AllMtn2 is a great entry-level bike is that it offers a platform that new riders can find welcoming and one that they can grow into as their skills develop. In the grand scheme of things, where e-MTBs reach the astronomical prices that they do, £4,600 is a relatively low and wise investment that'll hold its own in time.
As I said in the video, compare the AllMtn2 with similar specced offerings from Spesh and the like, and you're saving at least a few hundred quid. In some cases, you're saving £1k.

Entry cost from 2500. Mid from 5k. This for the price is pure shit. 27kg?!?! Man...

Lose the WTB wheels(they're junk), and use Halo Wheels. For the humongous price of a bicycle, it should have battle-worthy wheelset. Halo, is much stronger than WTB.

This thing is a tank... it's duel squish trail bike at best. Spend less and get more from another manufacture.

Basic components for almost 5k. What a rip off.
