  • This is a reaction video of Ted Mulry Gang performing "Jump In My Car" from 1975. From the first few power chords to the girl being propositioned from the car you know this will be a hot pub rock song. Ted Mulry pulled out every hook and lyric to make a number one song on the Aussie singles chart. In fact making a number one for six consecutive weeks in a row. Enjoy ...

Two more absolute Australian classics from 1971: ‘Eagle Rock’ by Daddy Cool, and ‘I’ll be gone’ by Spectrum. The Spectrum one is my all time favourite: it pretty much sums up my life!

I went to see the Ted Mulry Gang last Friday night.
Lead singer was Steve Ted's brother. Steve Mulry was in my brothers classes in high school.

It's great to see your interest and enjoyment of Australian music from this period, when there was a lot of great music being made which unfortunately had little or no international exposure. Here are my suggestions of songs you might like from 1975 - 1980 which you might not have heard before, although in some cases you would've heard of the band:
    1. 'Rock n roll Outlaw' (Rose Tattoo)
    2. 'Cheap Wine' (Cold Chisel)
    3. 'Big Balls' (AC/DC): In my opinion the cleverest and funniest song ever made!
    4. 'I hate the music' (John Paul Young)
    5. 'Summer Love' (Sherbet)

Believe me, Australian artists tried to make it overseas.

Hi Todd, I'd like to recommend you react to an Australian country singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers doing her live cover of Eminem's Lose Yourself in 2022. During the lockdown of Covid, Kasey decided to rework this song; due to the difference between the original and her version, she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right. Kasey is an accomplished singer-songwriter, who can easily cross most music genres. Kasey started her solo career in 1998, after performing in the family group Dead Ringer Band with her father Bill, mother Diane and brother Nash(1992 To 1998); she released the song Not Pretty Enough in 2001 as a commentary on the reluctance of mainstream radio stations towards not playing her music, apparently she didn't fit their stereotype of a country singer. Another great song is her 2017 release Ain't No Little Girl, it's a bit of a bluesy song but fantastic.

Listen to Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, "Mama" Live on GTK, from 1971 Turn the volume up to 11.
Check out The Easybeats, and the Loved Ones from the 60's.
The rest of the world record company execs etc. were not interested. We had the best of US, UK and AUS.
