    First time this concept has really hit home, excellent video....looking forward to trying it out. On a side note; the way you told the lad not to bullshit you and when you had your arm around him.... it showed how great a teacher you are and a lot of love. Good man

    Best green reading video I have seen out there. I like hiw you used the low side ball as where the ball will break towards.

    Thank you for your videos! I have subbed. This lesson was one of my favorites and gave me direction in better green reading. I would look at the general green complex and tried to see how water would flow, but your lesson brings in a sharper image for me to focus on and will let me focus on speed of the putt. In the past when I had someone else read my putts I was always a better putter. I will admit I would have marked the put just like your student more times than not and I thought it was part of my astigmatism in my eyes. Jeff

    This was a fantastic tip. I’m bad at reading greens and this could give me a great baseline. Awesome upload!

    Holy smokes, using this on my next round! I practice starting line drills a lot on my mat at home and feel very confident with my ability to hit my starting line. However reading greens costs me many 3 putts that I could have 1 putt for pars and birdies most of the time if I got the read right. Speed control is hit and miss also, but changes so much from course to course it seems that it's hard to dial in. But the idea of finding the 6'olcock spot is so simple, been needing this tip!

    Great exercise! I've never heard of this concept, which is a reason why I need to work on putting. I'm shooting in the mid to low 80's and have only broken into the high 70's 2 times. I think learning some great putting skills like this will for sure help me with consistently hitting in the high 70's ;)

    My friend taught me this years ago but added something that helps to judge speed - when you find the fall line, pick a spot past the hole based on the gradient of the Slope that you think you need to aim for in order to drop into the hole dead weight. This spot then becomes your aiming point for any putt around that hole, with the intention to stop it on that spot. Works fantastically for me!

    After 50 years of playing golf, I've narrowed putting down to three simple aspects:
    1. Speed
    2. Slope
    3. Nerves (or guts)
    Experience helps, too.

    Learned a lot from this video about reading greens. That was my one glaring shortcoming as reading the line used to be more gut instinct with little or no confidence. Now I feel like a Jedi who has the Force with him! Also watch some videos by Geoff Mangum. Thanks Eric!

    Thank you for this video! I'm a lot like this kid where my putting stroke is pretty good, but my green and speed read is terrible. When I miss I putt the ball right where I wanted it the majority of the time, just poor read. I'm excited to implement this technique.

    Another great video Eric. “Don’t lie.....” said every coach to any athlete with glossy eyes agreeing to agree. Will you move on if I say yes. It takes a special teacher to cut through the bullshit and get to meat. That student will have a lifetime of better putts because of that day. Now can you do another video showing what you told him about how much it will break exactly 😁

  • @tonyvasquez-progolfcoach1484
    @tonyvasquez-progolfcoach1484 6 років тому +5

    Good lesson. Now add reading grain and speed of the greens. Most putts are missed under the hole, so add a lot more break to down hill putts, and a little more to uphill ones. Find out how much on the practice green before your round, and on the first two holes that you play.
