As a fan of The Wanted myself, I can say that the reason of their ending wasn't just for One Direction. Yes, they always fought for trying to be the best boyband in the music industry, but to be honest all of the boybands at that moment fought for the same thing (like BTR, The Vamps, Lawson and 5sos). The real reason of their ending was the fame (and not knowing how to handle it), changing Jayne to Scooter Braun as their manager, doing stupid things for publicity (like the reality show on E!, The Wanted Life) and trying to do an album that didn't match with their personality, that's why they flopped. They could have done better, but some member just didn't want to keep going with it.
I remember seeing an interview with Max saying the wanted ended because one direction dominated the market. Thats all he said, but theres clearly more to it. Also a dailymail article said this "Rows over girlfriends and pressure over poor sales led to tensions." in the group.
I saw them when they opened for Ariana Grande, I think back in 2015. I thought they were actually better than her, at least in that type of concert setting, and I'm sad that they haven't really found widespread mainstream success. Their music is a little too pop-y for my current tastes, but I still think that they're pretty good.

To me Nathan was the most talented, he has such a beautiful unique voice that happens to be very deep but somehow still enjoyable. He is the only one i still follow, I totally forgot about the others.
They might have had a better chance had they not come out around the same time as another huge band. A lot of it had to do with the fact that One Direction was the shiny new toy, and The Wanted was still largely unknown. The bands also looked a little similar in number, appearance, the fact that they were both from the U.K., and they often used the same formula to create chart topping hits. This would elicit an underlying tension and competitive nature between the bands (at least on the side of The Wanted). Besides that, One Direction was supported by Simon Cowell and his label. They had an empire behind them, while The Wanted were signed to a much smaller label. It was bound to happen to them. Unfortunate, but true.

i feel like if the wanted got better promoted and did their own thing instead of just trying to beat out 1D they would have been successful, they cared way too much about being nr1 when in reality that's not the most important thing. If you look at the vamps in example they started out around the same time as 1D and even though they never beat them they are still making music and are successful in their own right. I just feel like they didn't have pure intentions behind starting the group in the first place.

Oh these boys... They will forever hold a special place in my heart. Seriously one of the most underrated boybands of all time. The talent they had was insane. I was a fan super early on... Small town Indiana girl somehow stumbled across their youtube channel literally playing shows at elementary schools. I saw them in concert 6 times, met them at an airport, got pulled on stage by Jay, ended up being in a Wanted Wednesday video, hung out with them for hours after their shows, and shared some shots with a few of them. They were literally some of the most down to earth people I've ever met. For a lot of people like me they were our island of misfits and made it okay to be a little weird. The Wanted will always have a special place in my heart, since 2011-2014. Their music really guided me through teenage years (more so, their underrated songs) and I couldn’t thank them enough. Nathan Sykes truly stood out to me the most, he is the member that made me interested into listening to this boyband. His voice and stage presence was so unique and captivating. I had a twitter account where I meant lots of wonderful people (twfanmily) whom I’m still friends with today and so glad I got to experience being in a true fandom. One thing I adore about this band, is they would interact with us on Twitter. One of the happiest moments is when I got noticed by them on twitter and 4/5 members following me which is pretty amazing. However, the only time that it was shitty was with directioners.. since I was a fan of both at the time.. it was hard listening to people bashing them. But I didn’t let them get to me and continued to support this band on Twitter. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet them or see them live.. as they cancelled their world tour. Till this day, that still breaks my heart.. being a fan for nearly 4 years and the experience being taken away from you. Anyways, it’s safe to say I have moved on but will never forget them.. these memories will literally stay gold forever. ❤️ All time low, gold forever, I’ll be your strength, warzone, rocket, last to know, lie to me, demons, in the middle, everybody knows will still remain my favourite songs ever.
The Wanted is that one group that you LOVE every song they sing, which is rarely the case for me. Their songs are catchy and bop. I am from Thailand so I don’t really know much what’s going on with the group. Really want them to come back tho.
I'm a massive fan of the wanted and I have been since 2009. Nathan has been the kindest, loveliest person to talk to and get to know, along with Jay & Tom. No they were never the biggest band but they were so incredibly special to me and always will be and Nathan will continue to release incredible music ❤
i’ve said it for 6 years now and i will always stand by it but coming from a fan that has been a fan since the beginning i really believe that scooter braun played a huge role in their brake up. jane was a great manager (#wantedwednesday on YT) however i knew if she were to stay manager they would stay a local UK band (like JLS). the minute i knew that scooter was their new manager along with the TV show i knew things would go wrong. i miss them as a group and still love their 1st and 2nd albums, although i don’t really listen to their individual work. maybe in the future they wont do anything big but something small and meaningful to the thousands of fans they once (and might still have) had.
No band should make music to compete with something. That’s not really what music is about. And those who make music to get number one in the charts. Tend to loose sight of why the started in the first place. And their music becomes generic and bland. Which is why. As a result. They end up fading out and being replaced by someone else who is basically the same as them. Just look at who was in the charts none stop 5 or so years ago. Compared to now. Make music that talks to, and expresses yourself

i feel like if the wanted got better promoted and did their own thing instead of just trying to beat out 1D they would have been successful, they cared way too much about being nr1 when in reality that's not the most important thing. If you look at the vamps in example they started out around the same time as 1D and even though they never beat them they are still making music and are successful in their own right. I just feel like they didn't have pure intentions behind starting the group in the first place.

Oh these boys... They will forever hold a special place in my heart. Seriously one of the most underrated boybands of all time. The talent they had was insane. I was a fan super early on... Small town Indiana girl somehow stumbled across their youtube channel literally playing shows at elementary schools. I saw them in concert 6 times, met them at an airport, got pulled on stage by Jay, ended up being in a Wanted Wednesday video, hung out with them for hours after their shows, and shared some shots with a few of them. They were literally some of the most down to earth people I've ever met. For a lot of people like me they were our island of misfits and made it okay to be a little weird.
I just wish that someday I could see them again... Sometimes I think about them and it feels more like I lost a friend than as if a favorite band broke up.

The Wanted will always have a special place in my heart, since 2011-2014. Their music really guided me through teenage years (more so, their underrated songs) and I couldn’t thank them enough. Nathan Sykes truly stood out to me the most, he is the member that made me interested into listening to this boyband. His voice and stage presence was so unique and captivating. I had a twitter account where I meant lots of wonderful people (twfanmily) whom I’m still friends with today and so glad I got to experience being in a true fandom. One thing I adore about this band, is they would interact with us on Twitter. One of the happiest moments is when I got noticed by them on twitter and 4/5 members following me which is pretty amazing. However, the only time that it was shitty was with directioners.. since I was a fan of both at the time.. it was hard listening to people bashing them. But I didn’t let them get to me and continued to support this band on Twitter. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet them or see them live.. as they cancelled their world tour. Till this day, that still breaks my heart.. being a fan for nearly 4 years and the experience being taken away from you. Anyways, it’s safe to say I have moved on but will never forget them.. these memories will literally stay gold forever. ❤️ All time low, gold forever, I’ll be your strength, warzone, rocket, last to know, lie to me, demons, in the middle, everybody knows will still remain my favourite songs ever.

The Wanted is that one group that you LOVE every song they sing, which is rarely the case for me. Their songs are catchy and bop. I am from Thailand so I don’t really know much what’s going on with the group. Really want them to come back tho.
I'm a massive fan of the wanted and I have been since 2009. Nathan has been the kindest, loveliest person to talk to and get to know, along with Jay & Tom. No they were never the biggest band but they were so incredibly special to me and always will be and Nathan will continue to release incredible music ❤

i’ve said it for 6 years now and i will always stand by it but coming from a fan that has been a fan since the beginning i really believe that scooter braun played a huge role in their brake up. jane was a great manager (#wantedwednesday on YT) however i knew if she were to stay manager they would stay a local UK band (like JLS). the minute i knew that scooter was their new manager along with the TV show i knew things would go wrong. i miss them as a group and still love their 1st and 2nd albums, although i don’t really listen to their individual work. maybe in the future they wont do anything big but something small and meaningful to the thousands of fans they once (and might still have) had.

Tend to loose sight of why the started in the first place. And their music becomes generic and bland. Which is why. As a result. They end up fading out and being replaced by someone else who is basically the same as them. Just look at who was in the charts none stop 5 or so years ago. Compared to now.
