The BJP doesn't merely make that claim, it also engages in majority appeasement as a response. If the BJP's answer to minority appeasement is majority appeasement, then, of course, it's doing Hindu-Muslim politics. "Hindutva" is literally a campaign strategy of the BJP in almost every election. If religion is the prime focus of your election campaign, then you're doing "Hindu-Muslim", that is, engaging in communal politics and trying to appease the other side. Another example of hypocrisy would be criticizing the freebies announced by Kejriwaal in Delhi while promising the same in Bengal. The BJP has so many qualities and former members of the parties it speaks against and still, it claims to be different. If winning elections and forming the government by hook or by crook is the motto of a party, the aforementioned things are bound to happen.

I have seen many recent interviews of PK where he straight away denied the allegations made by the interviewers against Mamata regarding minority appeasement. But he was very likely not expecting the clubhouse chat to be broadcasted on the public forum and therefore was honest and sort of agreed to the fact that Mamata had appeased minorities to win over their trust for electrical gain. So he probably never expected his comments to be backfired like this and now in sort of a damage control mode in the middle of such crucial election.

If he knew that Clubhouse has other listeners he would have never ever said that TMC does Muslim Appeasement or that Modi is a cult figure and very popular in Bengal or that most SCs would vote for BJP - right at the most crucial juncture in the elections. He said those in response to how BJP's vote share touched 40% in 2019. But of course those who listen to 1 min long clips shared by IT cell won't know... Modi is widely popular even in TN or Kerala where they will win seats in single digit. Did you see his recent rally in kerala? 40.000+ crowd there was in the stadium. But his party will win 1-3 seats.
He did not throw TMC under bus, he threw BJP under the bus when he said Suvendhu is losing Nandigram- something widely reported by Bangla newspapers.
