Finally made my way back to a brand-new location for petrified wood! It was way more humid than I'd anticipated so it wasn't as much fun as I'd hoped for. This wood was collected from Grimes County. Eocene epoch, Yegua formation, ~35MYA

No snakes were harmed in the making of this video.

A cart with big wheels would be a good investment for finding some treasures.
The only issue is I'm solo, 99.98% of the time. Yeah, I could get it out of the creekbed but then what? And even if I somehow manage to get it in my vehicle, what do I do when I get home? The piece that got dug out took 3 able bodied men to move. I'm just one slightly gimpy out of shape chick!
That place was just loaded with pet wood! Gorgeous pieces. did you end up taking the turtle shell? That was an awesome find! I know how miserable humidity is. Its not the heat, its the humidity that gets to you. It makes it hard to breathe. Its like literally breathing in water. And your body has to work much harder to cool the air you take in. Even without covid! My lung are not the same after covid and i had omicron! But i had long covid and had it for 5 weeks. It was miserable. So dont let anyone tell you what you are doing isnt enough. You have been through it this year! And you are doing what you can do. And the stuff you do is awesome! im in oregon, and its triple digits here currently, 104° yesterday, but we dont have the humidity that you do. But that wood was gorgeous and polishing them would be really easy because they mineralized really well! and your saw doesnt leave a bunch of cut marks! Even an epoxy would bring out the woods features, without ruining the rock!
There's no explanation for the humidity that day. We haven't had rain in a couple of months. Everyone around us got it but it skipped over the majority of the B/CS area. Even today they're saying we have a chance of rain but it's only 40% humidity. I don't know... I'm just scared at how many trees I see that are already dead from this drought. Yeah, I grabbed the shell. It matches another one I found awhile back. I want to make a weird gallery wall with them in the same style as I did that cow bone.
Woo thank you for the shout out 😊😊🥰😍
LOVE THIS!!! I have to ask, are you in East Texas? I see all the Pine Trees. I am in North Texas and its HORRIBLY HOT but no humidity but the dry heat is HORRIBLE as well. It will zap you so very quick.
This was in Grimes County, kinda SE of College Station. The humidity was a bit of an outlier; it's not usually anywhere close to 90%!
Thanks for the great video! Can you tell us more about the saw you're using to slab these?
It's a 10" Chicago electric brick saw from harbor freight that, apparently, they don't sell anymore. The new version is 2.5x more expensive!
Some really big pieces in that area!
Volunteering to help?!
@@AngieDoesStuff you doubting that I don't help?
Love your determination!
COVID lingers; everyone I know never completely “heals” take care, but keep adventuring! ❤
So much we still don't know about it. But that's life! I'm not going live in constant fear and I've gotta just adapt.
Can't resist any bugs or animals.. must take pictures and videos 😬
Agreed!
where is this please?
