You’re the first youtube/tiktok person I’ve seen that hasn’t liked Maru and I love that! It used to be good during 2020 when they used minor figures oat milk. They made the switch to the barista oatly and it’s sooo bad now. All I taste is milk even though it’s bright green. I don’t even go anymore. Stereoscope yorokobi matcha milk all the way 10/10 🎉
I was honestly surprised a lot of ppl recommended Maru bc it was so mid to me and SO expensive compared to the other places I went to! And yeah the matcha flavor was really weak :/
DAMO makes my favorite matcha!! I go there if I want to treat myself to a nice matcha 💚 I also enjoy Farm Cup Coffee’s lavender matcha. It’s located on Santa Monica Blvd right before hitting Fairfax Ave. hope you get to try it!!!
Yesss my rating would have been exactly the same!! DAMO 🔛🔝!! For me: DAMO (it’s actually in Koreatown!) has the perfect amount of sweetness. I think the cup is also a bit bigger than Cafe de Lala and their other drinks like mango cream matcha and hojicha latte are sooo good. And YES finally someone who agrees with me about Maru. A lot of ppl say Maru is for true coffee enthusiasts but Idk.. I’ve also been told the one in DTLA (or Arts District) is better than the Los Feliz one (the one you went to, which also apparently is the worst location) - I’ve been to both and didn’t like either 😅 Places to try for next time: 1. Stereoscope (there are a few locations but the one in Hollywood is 👌🏻) - they have 3 different types of matcha and I usually get their strawberry matcha (regular if you want more sweet, ask for ceremonial grade if you want less sweet/more earthy) 2. YEEMS (in Ktown) - I actually like their Vienna latte the most there but their matcha latte/strawberry matcha is just as good 3. Community Goods (super hyped because it’s the Bieber’s fav coffee shop apparently) - a bit pricy and cups are smaller but their matcha with cream top is so so good, it’s my guilty pleasure 😩

Erewhon has by far the best matcha I've ever had. I recommend the raw, cold-pressed coconut milk (they make it onsite), with their keto coconut whipped cream on top. Best $17 I've ever spent.

I’m a fan bc they use Ippodo Tea to make their matcha. I find this particular brand to be deliciously smooth.
