      Agree totally, did you consider a bow spring line, rigged from the deck? So the stern goes first with the current, then you let go bow? Less chance of leaving someone behind...Trying to remember Sailing School tactics, thanks for great episode

    So, bad weather seems to follow you but bikini clad crew don't. LOL
    Personally, I think you have the right ratio of adventure and how-to. I know sail trimming can be a mystic art form and there is nothing worse than not knowing what this or that is for, asking those "experts" and getting a condescending look. I learned to sail back in the day on a gaff rigged boat. No boom vangs or cunninghams to be found.
    Your "this is what I have and this is how I use it" approach is bang on.
    Oh, and Happy Canada Day, eh.

    Take Cover, Riding the Storm Out. There's nothing like the thrill of being in the center of a horrific thunderstorm on the water. With Lightning Bolts trying to grab the mast, and whipping Winds, piling the water waves into a sloppy frenzy. The thrill, and anxiety levels climb to a ferocious Climax, as the Thunderstorm closes in, and reaches its' Max Amplitude. Sometimes these Storms will linger, and dole out a brutal Pummeling to the living and Material World, while small storms flash through, and cleanse the landscape. Mother Nature hands out such inspiring moments like these, to fill the Memories.

    I see you tow your dink, here is something you might try in the ICW, raise you dink on the side of your boat by using the genny hailardi out of the water and put your deck cargo on the opposite side to balance the boat Port- STB. it will make you a little faster and still make a dingy launch easy John S/V Bright Eyes

    Oh I forgot to mention; we also have a Rocna over sized with 100 m 10mm chain plus 150 m rode if required. Definitely don’t want to cheap out on the ground tackle. It would be like driving around with bald tires.

  • @pateallan7764
    @pateallan7764 5 років тому +1

    Maybe I missed it, but what size Rocna do you have? I just bought a 55 lb Rocna along with 150 ft of 3/8 chain. Also, a Mantus bridle and swivel. We have a Pearson 365. Yes indeed, a good nights sleep and storms is hard to put a price on. I rememeber a couple weeks ago when all those storms were rolling through NC everyday. We were in horrible weather like that too. Its no fun at all.

  • @robertcarr5457
    @robertcarr5457 5 років тому +1

    Good video. You mentioned the boat heeling while at anchor, due to the high wind and I suppose this is due to the lateral drag on the chain as the boat tries to face windward. Is this a big issue. I'd be interested if you thought a small sea anchor over the side midship would help offering some type of drag. thx non sailor.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  5 років тому +1

      Hey good question. It actually has to do with a lot of things. The tide is a big factor. A boat will not always point up. If the tide force is stronger than the wind it’ll point into the flow of tide. In our case, the wind was simply so strong the boat couldn’t round up. All the boats were beam to and heeled
