- It's true...a few days ago I had no idea what TEP3 was going to be about. This week I had to start from scratch (for the first time in 5 YEARS!) and shared my favorite method of brainstorming.
Now I'm off to finish outlining TEP3 so I can actually write something for #NaNoWriMo!

NaNoWriMo Vlog Author Vlog Preptober Vlog Preparing for NaNoWriMo Vlog
It’s been awhile since I’ve watched. Can’t believe how big the baby has gotten. Nano panic is a thing! Lol Great seeing you again Vivien!
Nano panic is real. Glad I am not the only one. I was starting to put together a new story but realised there was just too much prep still todo. I was so disappointed to not be able to work on something from November the first. Then I looked through my old projects and found an outline for an Idea I loved but put aside around a year ago and decided that maybe the time was right. Will still work in the other project in the background but fingers crossed I will have my 50000+ words by the end of the month.
Same here. I found an idea that I wrote a synopsis for a few years ago and I plotted my NaNo project using that as a starting point.
physically writing questions is so useful when brainstorming! definitely think it's easier to find ideas when you can see your thought process. unfortunately, i'm not participating in nano this year because of uni but you bet i'll be here for the nano content, haha. good luck! :)
Thank you!! Writing the question out works some serious writing magic 😂
It’s great to see you vlog. ❤️from Miami
Oh honey, I'm not prepared for NaNoWriMo and I've lost all hours now for my job. I have so much time. But the stress of having nothing to do when even on a good year you'd be struggling to justify your position in the world is a lot. That said, I've planned to write a little prequel novella to a fantasy series I put a ton of planning into last year. I'm not even finished the first book, but I've just finished reading Circe and it gave me ideas and freshened my mind. So that's my goal for this month, and after. Because honestly, I'm using the month more as a kickstart to writing than a crunch time to get something finished. Best of luck to all other writers!
Lovely vlog again!!
The eye popping feeling, that's how my migraines get. Wearing the blue light glasses really helped me a lot (I'm wearing them right now lol). Isla is so cute! She looks a lot like you I think lol.
I did enough planning for NaNo this year that the panic hasn't full set in yet, but I'm starting to think I didn't do enough the more I write. WHOOPS.
Oh my gosh that's awful! I hope I don't have any more eye popping migraines 😖
I need to find my glasses for sure!!
She is so cute and I hope you get it all figure it out! I am redoing my book from last year cus I had no idea what I was doing and spent the the rest of the year making a plot outline and so far every time I sit down to right it comes so easy compared to last year where I struggled so hard the whole 30 days!! The save the cat book and Brandon Sanderson UA-cam classes really helped with outlining and general knoll age someone new like me needed if anyone else is struggling!!!!
I used Word for paperback formatting and e-book. It also helps with any Grammer and spelling.
Isla is such a cutie!!!
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
You have been such an inspiration for me as a young writer!! Thank you! ❤❤
I, too, am not ready for NaNo. I understand your panic, but I am taking it a breath at a time.
This is my 1st time participating in NaNo and I'm a little anxious. I'm only at 1,769 words going into day 3 because of the inner editor in me. Don't be too hard on yourself and have fun. Happy NaNo!
I just got started writing on day 2! We got this!
Omg your back or maybe its just me. Either way your writing trips are freshing.
Amazing
I feel you on the NaNo panic - I did some prepping on the latter of half of October, and it still wasn't enough.
Also if regular doctors don't turn up a diagnosis or treatment, you could try searching for a functional MD. They are regular doctors who practice evidence based alternative medicine.
What you said you did with asking questions about where characters should or could go, I do that as well. I'll usually use a scribble pad and do it on there sort of ad hoc, then transcribe that into my notes on my characters/story in Scrivener. Yes, it is Scapple where you can mind-map it. As for NanoWriMo, it's a bust for me this year. Been feeling a bit owlish including Migraines so I'm sort of out for this year. Bummer. Gotta say it though I've had a couple of breakthroughs on my story that are really informative. Glad on that! For now I'm ODing on Advil.
I can't really do Nano, because my book is not designed for Nano. But great video. I've been following on since you wrote the Elysian Prophecy
It's better to figure out what you're writing even if it's not adding words. You can make up the words later if you know what you're writing.
I'm in the same boat as you with trying to write with toddlers running around. I can't do naptime work because by then I need a nap, but I'm doing post-bedtime work. I should be doing that now.
Good luck and show yourself some grace.
What I like to do is "interview" my characters to at least get an idea of their personalities and get a sense of how they'd react depending on the circumstances.
Hey Vivien!
Like your videos.... They help me a lot! How about make a video on 'how to write horror scenes'? Something that could open the reader's imagination.....
Thank you
Sorry you're not feeling well. You might want to try a food elimination diet with a nutritionist because food allergies can cause migraines and headaches. I had a friend who had severe migraines and joint pain actually too. Turned out she was allergic to yeast, corn and gluten. Was cured almost instantly! Anyway, good luck with whatever it is.
I’m only going with a blurb. Panster through and through here. I plot during the second draft and cut out rambling and plot points which aren’t going anywhere.
The Mayo Clinic's website is fantastic. But, every symptom is still possibly related to cancer.
