It does seem to be that we are living in those times now. I believe that it's no one's fault that the world we live in is becoming more secular, at least not directly. It's simply a sign that biblical prophesy is going according to plan. We should still be doing everything we can to spread the word however we can.

@@IBenZik I'm sorry, I was very tired when I wrote that and I didn't think it all the way through. I realize that we are beings of free will and that we are corrupt sinners who are in need of a savior. I feel the need to explain my statement though. When I said not directly I was referring to how people tend to point fingers at individuals and groups of people. I meant to say (with my half-asleep mind) that it is not any one person's or group of people's fault for the state of society but the natural (or unnatural) progression of events caused by us humans and our sin nature. I feel like things are only gonna get worse from here. The secular world doesn't want God or his people. It seems that Christians are increasingly becoming like villains in our modern age. People will become less and less tolerant of anything religious at time moves on.
Can i say something here? (of course i can it's the comments section). I grew up in a family that went to church and I remember as a child who couldn't speak English yet (not my first language) this was the best time of my life because of the worship music. Seriously they had some really good vibes why wouldn't it be it's God's vibes yo. But as I grew up I was told to really make sure I was right with God from my heart inside where it really mattered. I am glad I comitted to this without understanding at first. And what I didn't realize is you have to become so truthful with yourself not just self reassuring yourself but really commit to you inside and ascertain what you accept. It takes faith to believe that because if you aren't that much certain of this with yourself (that you really pray to the eternal God in heaven and not just some percieved concept of collective abstract ideas of an omnipotent divine being) it will be easy to follow secular standards half-thinking it's okay if you feel it is okay. The reason the world is secular is because we forgot what it means to have faith and pray to Jesus openly in our hearts. My generation today think that getting further in school makes us smart and we live in a technology era where we can say what we want any time. This is not right but because of these plenty distractions, it affects our attention and the really important things become unspoken things.

When I came in to the USA 🇺🇸 the hardest times in my life was in my later teen years in school where my faith was mocked and hated! Amen brother! I couldn't agree more. Growing up, during the 90s and 2000's, I couldn't bring myself to believe in Jesus. It seemed too good to be true and everything we are taught by society today has a naturalistic explanation for everything. As if science has an answer for every question (I was also a science major at a private liberal arts college). Only when I was willing to listen did God reach out to me. I had to change everything about myself, and Jesus has helped me do that the entire way through. There is no way I could be where I am without Him in my life. I was one way, but now I am another. "Mathematics is the language in which God has written the universe." I couldn't agree with him more (Romans 1:20). Galileo was imprisoned because of his belief that we can learn about the Creator, through what he has created. By studying God's creation, he was learning that the sun did not revolve around the earth. The corrupt Roman Catholic Church saw his affirmations as a threat to its Papal authority to interpret the word of God, in the way that THEY chose to. In this particular case, it was texts such as "He has set the earth on its foundations, it can not be moved" (Psalm 104:5). If we simply read the entire text, however, it's OBVIOUS that it's metaphorical language, not intended to teach us that the planet earth can never be moved. "He makes winds his messengers, flames of fires his servants. He set the earth on its foundations, it can never be moved. You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment." But even more importantly - the word "earth" simply referred to the LAND as opposed to the SEA. To my knowledge, the ancient Israelites were not even aware that they were on a planet! Galileo was one of the great scientists of history, who's strong belief in God helped motivate him to ADVANCE science, rather than "hold it back" as you had originally put it!

They were continually on the verge of worshiping man made idols, and nature, etc. God was focusing on what they NEEDED to understand - that HE is the true God. It would have been pointless for God to have told them - WAIT, STOP THE PRESS - your entire concept of the earth is wrong... You are actually on a GLOBE, with several planets in orbit with YOUR globe. And some of those planets even have their OWN moons... The context was that of regular impending national conflict, and invasion from foreign nations. God wasn't CONCERNED with providing them with a lesson in scientific facts. And rightly so! As for Archeology... A simple online search can easily show the times skeptics said the Bible made up stuff, because no archeological evidence had been found. And then, sure enough, stuff WAS found, that gave the skeptics a black eye (eg. Assyria, the 2004 pool of Siloam discovery, etc). The fact that we haven't yet found EVERYTHING from thousands of years ago, doesn't trouble me at all! As for whatever the Roman Catholic Church might have done, and whoever it might have killed - if a religious group chooses to violate Jesus's command to "love your enemies and do good to those who hate you" (Matthew 5:44) the fault is on THEM, not on the book. And lastly, you still don't seem to understand that it was the worldview of CHRISTIANITY that gave rise to science! The belief that the creation had to have orderly and predictable laws because it was made by a rational Creator, was the necessary foundation for science to be able to take off! Unlike the superstitions of that time, that postulated unpredictable moody gods, that were having tantrums and affairs, etc. It's a simple fact of history, that the Theistic worldview provided the needed expectation that when we study and observe the natural world, we should be able to find some sort of predictability and law-like order to it, since it was made by God. Don’t think this guy knows how much God is using him. If he spoke to one person a day, he saved 24,000 in his 68 yrs. And that’s only if each of those people haven’t spoken to anyone since. If each one of those people shared the gospel to 5 people, this one man alone now saved 120,000 people. It’s amazing how much God can use us...and how many are being saved by just sharing about the Lord. Yes, Frank is right that we can start by judging ourselves, but he just forgot to mention the many people this man has “infected”(Covid19 term). John 3:16. Loved the world.

It's the absence of the Holy Spirit. I went to a Christian University, attended a Bible teaching church, had Bible studies and mentors who loved the Lord, and with all of this in my life I was never taught about the Holy Spirit; not knowing he is a person and not a magical force is a HUGE part of the disconnection to Jesus and God. Not knowing the power of the Holy Spirit has drawn us towards our own knowledge. If we were taught more about the Holy Spirit and realized that as believers we are sealed with him and that it is the power of the Holy Spirit within us we could be preforming miracles just as the disciples did who walked with Jesus. That power is still alive, we just dont even know that it's there. It's not us doing any great works, it's him in us. Our job is to spread the news and to love, the Holy Spirit does the work.
The apostles went from house to house and in public places to declare gospel. And in Matthew 24:14, the prophecy says that this good news of the kingdom is preached first in all the nations before the end comes. Everyone is accountable. So yes, Theron, we are answerable.

In America, I think, a lot of the modern secularism came post WW2. Professing Christians became more materialistic after the post war boom. The diligence to focus on the welfare of our families and communities took a back seat to worldly striving. As a result, God has incrementally been taken out of public life, government, schools etc.
The falling away of the church was foretold. It has to happen in order for Jesus to come back. Read the Bible people. None of this should come as a shock to followers of Christ.

Is this really the best question he could come up with? First off if these people don't have assurance they might not be saved. I'm not saying they're not but don't just assume they're saved because they say something about Jesus.
Yeah if you claim to be 60 years a Christian but dont know if he is saved....Then I assume he has never been baptized which is a requirement of being saved. Once you are a born again Christian you know in your spirit that you have eternal life. You will never cease to be and you will only grow stronger as a person as you live on. Yes your physical body will die for a time but you know it will be reunited with you in perfection. If you have to wonder if you are going too heaven or hell here is the simple answer. Did you get baptized as Jesus commanded in order to be saved? If not then no you are not going too Heaven it is a requirement and I feel many churches have gotten slack on this, they cherry pick certain parts of the bible that they feel good about teaching they dont want to scare people away.

And without offense, he demonstrated why everything is so secular because his description of Assurance is so simplistic, and it is the reason that American Christianity has boiled down regeneration and salvation to some bullet points without a narrative in between to follow-up with discipleship. Just the fact that he rambled all questions and then the answers demonstrates that he was disingenuous (whether he even realized it or not)... and someone looking on thinks that all there is to just being a Christian is the Simplicity that he Shrugged off. Hi Darth Bane, Darth, why do you think baptism is a requirement to be saved? Scripture makes it clear that no external act is required for salvation. In 1 Corinthians 1:17, Paul states that "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel," thus clearly differentiating the gospel from baptism. Such passages would be difficult to understand if water baptism is necessary for salvation. If baptism were part of the gospel itself, necessary for salvation, what good would it have done Paul to preach the gospel, but not baptize? No one would have been saved. Paul clearly understood water baptism to be separate from the gospel, and hence in no way efficacious for salvation. Perhaps the most convincing refutation of the view that baptism is necessary for salvation are those who were saved apart from baptism. The penitent woman (Luke 7:37-50), the paralytic man (Matthew 9:2), the publican (Luke 18:13-14), and the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43) all experienced forgiveness of sins apart from baptism. For that matter, we have no record of the apostles' being baptized, yet Jesus pronounced them clean of their sins (John 15:3--note that the Word of God, not baptism, is what cleansed them). The Bible also gives us an example of people who were saved before being baptized. In Acts 10:44-48, Cornelius and those with him were converted through Peter's message. That they were saved before being baptized is evident from their reception of the Holy Spirit (v. 44) and the gifts of the Spirit (v. 46) before their baptism. @@darthbane2669 Brad is correct. Baptism is not a requirement for salvation. Thats not to say we should not be baptized. We should be, out of obedience to Jesus. Baptism is meant to be an outward expression of the inward change God has made in your heart. And i would add many who have been baptized later loose faith. What does that tell you? Baptism garauntees nothing. But if someone does not want to be baptized i would ask, why not? Just like any other thing we should be doing, going to church, taking communion, sharing your faith, being salt and light to non-christians, etc. If you are not doing what you should be, are you really God's child?

The failure is these people who say they hope or think they're going to heaven aren't being taught the law of God. Their are many who are are called but few are chosen. Many have been born again and believe in God but are you sure they believe in the God of the Bible. I bet not. Churches don't teach you to obey Jesus. I haven't heard 1 pastor teach on it. You'll have assurance if you do the will of God.

Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Obey His commands and repent of your sins because Jesus is coming back soon. Tomorrow isn’t promised.

When using the word “Creator” it is much more likely he was referring the God of the Bible. If he would have written the Declaration decades later in a different phase of his faith you may be right. However, it is much more likely based on Jefferson’s writings at the time, he meant God. I already gave you an example how the Constitution references the Bible, but due process and cruel and unusual punishment are a couple more. Just curious, why is it such a big deal that the Founders were Christians?

Simply saying that you believe or that you accept Jesus doesn't save you nor should it make you feel secure in your salvation. A moral man looks beyond the good deeds of the world. Beyond the socialistic, sociological, atheistic contrivances of a shifting society and tries to create a good foundation of good in his children. His daughter, to remain chaste until marriage and good to all. But stand up against the slew of heathens that come at her door. When we are made Christians, hardwork is only one aspect of it. But do not get that twisted with what the world perceives as hardwork. A man may be productive in many ways, but lose himself to work, career, etc. He may idolize it and make it his god. The problem is in the cracks of identity. Are we going to blame everything on youthfulness, as every person has done one thing or another. Or are we going to see the sinfulness of the society we live in and try to raise our kids with resolve to think for themselves. To not be so influenced by society that the latter becomes the new paternal figure?

The main reason the whole world is becoming more secular is because more and more people are waking up to the fact that there is no evidence to support any religion being true and no reason to believe that a god exists. Frank will try to tell you there is but there are many rebuttals out there that convince a lot of people that he's wrong. If you want people to believe in your god then you are going to have to come up with reasons that convince non-believers. Arguments that sound good only to people who already believe are just not going to cut it.

It does seem to be that we are living in those times now. I believe that it's no one's fault that the world we live in is becoming more secular, at least not directly. It's simply a sign that biblical prophesy is going according to plan. We should still be doing everything we can to spread the word however we can.

@@IBenZik I'm sorry, I was very tired when I wrote that and I didn't think it all the way through. I realize that we are beings of free will and that we are corrupt sinners who are in need of a savior.
I feel the need to explain my statement though. When I said not directly I was referring to how people tend to point fingers at individuals and groups of people. I meant to say (with my half-asleep mind) that it is not any one person's or group of people's fault for the state of society but the natural (or unnatural) progression of events caused by us humans and our sin nature.
I feel like things are only gonna get worse from here. The secular world doesn't want God or his people. It seems that Christians are increasingly becoming like villains in our modern age. People will become less and less tolerant of anything religious at time moves on.

I grew up in a family that went to church and I remember as a child who couldn't speak English yet (not my first language) this was the best time of my life because of the worship music. Seriously they had some really good vibes why wouldn't it be it's God's vibes yo. But as I grew up I was told to really make sure I was right with God from my heart inside where it really mattered. I am glad I comitted to this without understanding at first. And what I didn't realize is you have to become so truthful with yourself not just self reassuring yourself but really commit to you inside and ascertain what you accept. It takes faith to believe that because if you aren't that much certain of this with yourself (that you really pray to the eternal God in heaven and not just some percieved concept of collective abstract ideas of an omnipotent divine being) it will be easy to follow secular standards half-thinking it's okay if you feel it is okay.
The reason the world is secular is because we forgot what it means to have faith and pray to Jesus openly in our hearts. My generation today think that getting further in school makes us smart and we live in a technology era where we can say what we want any time. This is not right but because of these plenty distractions, it affects our attention and the really important things become unspoken things.

It seemed too good to be true and everything we are taught by society today has a naturalistic explanation for everything. As if science has an answer for every question (I was also a science major at a private liberal arts college). Only when I was willing to listen did God reach out to me. I had to change everything about myself, and Jesus has helped me do that the entire way through. There is no way I could be where I am without Him in my life. I was one way, but now I am another. The corrupt Roman Catholic Church saw his affirmations as a threat to its Papal authority to interpret the word of God, in the way that THEY chose to. In this particular case, it was texts such as "He has set the earth on its foundations, it can not be moved" (Psalm 104:5). If we simply read the entire text, however, it's OBVIOUS that it's metaphorical language, not intended to teach us that the planet earth can never be moved. "He makes winds his messengers, flames of fires his servants. He set the earth on its foundations, it can never be moved. You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment." But even more importantly - the word "earth" simply referred to the LAND as opposed to the SEA. To my knowledge, the ancient Israelites were not even aware that they were on a planet! Galileo was one of the great scientists of history, who's strong belief in God helped motivate him to ADVANCE science, rather than "hold it back" as you had originally put it!

Those 2 simple sentences that I just communicated to you, are crystal clear for you. But if someone from a different culture, a few thousand years later read it, they'd probably reach some wrong conclusions. That's why there's such as thing as 'study Bibles.' It's to help people who aren't familiar these kinds of details. LOL earlier in Psalm it says, "Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth" (Psalm 18:8). Mart, you and I use metaphorical language EVERY DAY, while describing actual events. Eg "I shot Mart's comment a dirty look, after its lack of insight pissed me off." I assume you understand now :-) So on to the NEXT point... The very SURVIVAL of the Israelite nation hinged on their faithfulness to the true God. They were continually on the verge of worshiping man made idols, and nature, etc. God was focusing on what they NEEDED to understand - that HE is the true God. It would have been pointless for God to have told them - WAIT, STOP THE PRESS - your entire concept of the earth is wrong... You are actually on a GLOBE, with several planets in orbit with YOUR globe. And some of those planets even have their OWN moons... The context was that of regular impending national conflict, and invasion from foreign nations. God wasn't CONCERNED with providing them with a lesson in scientific facts. And rightly so! As for Archeology... A simple online search can easily show the times skeptics said the Bible made up stuff, because no archeological evidence had been found. And then, sure enough, stuff WAS found, that gave the skeptics a black eye (eg. Assyria, the 2004 pool of Siloam discovery, etc). The fact that we haven't yet found EVERYTHING from thousands of years ago, doesn't trouble me at all! As for whatever the Roman Catholic Church might have done, and whoever it might have killed - if a religious group chooses to violate Jesus's command to "love your enemies and do good to those who hate you" (Matthew 5:44) the fault is on THEM, not on the book. And lastly, you still don't seem to understand that it was the worldview of CHRISTIANITY that gave rise to science! The belief that the creation had to have orderly and predictable laws because it was made by a rational Creator, was the necessary foundation for science to be able to take off! Unlike the superstitions of that time, that postulated unpredictable moody gods, that were having tantrums and affairs, etc. It's a simple fact of history, that the Theistic worldview provided the needed expectation that when we study and observe the natural world, we should be able to find some sort of predictability and law-like order to it, since it was made by God. PLUS, because humanity was made in his image, we can expect to be able to grasp some of the ways it operates! Thanks for writing back.
Don’t think this guy knows how much God is using him. If he spoke to one person a day, he saved 24,000 in his 68 yrs. And that’s only if each of those people haven’t spoken to anyone since. If each one of those people shared the gospel to 5 people, this one man alone now saved 120,000 people. It’s amazing how much God can use us...and how many are being saved by just sharing about the Lord.

It's the absence of the Holy Spirit. I went to a Christian University, attended a Bible teaching church, had Bible studies and mentors who loved the Lord, and with all of this in my life I was never taught about the Holy Spirit; not knowing he is a person and not a magical force is a HUGE part of the disconnection to Jesus and God. Not knowing the power of the Holy Spirit has drawn us towards our own knowledge. If we were taught more about the Holy Spirit and realized that as believers we are sealed with him and that it is the power of the Holy Spirit within us we could be preforming miracles just as the disciples did who walked with Jesus. That power is still alive, we just dont even know that it's there. It's not us doing any great works, it's him in us. Our job is to spread the news and to love, the Holy Spirit does the work.

In America, I think, a lot of the modern secularism came post WW2. Professing Christians became more materialistic after the post war boom. The diligence to focus on the welfare of our families and communities took a back seat to worldly striving. As a result, God has incrementally been taken out of public life, government, schools etc.

Is this really the best question he could come up with? First off if these people don't have assurance they might not be saved. I'm not saying they're not but don't just assume they're saved because they say something about Jesus.
Yeah if you claim to be 60 years a Christian but dont know if he is saved....Then I assume he has never been baptized which is a requirement of being saved. Once you are a born again Christian you know in your spirit that you have eternal life. You will never cease to be and you will only grow stronger as a person as you live on. Yes your physical body will die for a time but you know it will be reunited with you in perfection.
If you have to wonder if you are going too heaven or hell here is the simple answer. Did you get baptized as Jesus commanded in order to be saved? If not then no you are not going too Heaven it is a requirement and I feel many churches have gotten slack on this, they cherry pick certain parts of the bible that they feel good about teaching they dont want to scare people away.

And without offense, he demonstrated why everything is so secular because his description of Assurance is so simplistic, and it is the reason that American Christianity has boiled down regeneration and salvation to some bullet points without a narrative in between to follow-up with discipleship.

Darth, why do you think baptism is a requirement to be saved? Scripture makes it clear that no external act is required for salvation.
In 1 Corinthians 1:17, Paul states that "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel," thus clearly differentiating the gospel from baptism.
Such passages would be difficult to understand if water baptism is necessary for salvation. If baptism were part of the gospel itself, necessary for salvation, what good would it have done Paul to preach the gospel, but not baptize? No one would have been saved. Paul clearly understood water baptism to be separate from the gospel, and hence in no way efficacious for salvation.
Perhaps the most convincing refutation of the view that baptism is necessary for salvation are those who were saved apart
from baptism. The penitent woman (Luke 7:37-50), the paralytic man (Matthew 9:2), the publican (Luke 18:13-14), and the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43) all experienced forgiveness of sins apart from baptism. For that matter, we have no record of the apostles' being baptized, yet Jesus pronounced them clean of their sins (John 15:3--note that the Word of God, not baptism, is what cleansed them).
The Bible also gives us an example of people who were saved before being baptized. In Acts 10:44-48, Cornelius and those with him were converted through Peter's message. That they were saved before being baptized is evident from their reception of the Holy Spirit (v. 44) and the gifts of the Spirit (v. 46) before their baptism. Indeed, it is the fact that they had received the Holy Spirit (and hence were saved) that led Peter to baptize them (cf. v. 47).

Brad is correct. Baptism is not a requirement for salvation. Thats not to say we should not be baptized. We should be, out of obedience to Jesus. Baptism is meant to be an outward expression of the inward change God has made in your heart.
And i would add many who have been baptized later loose faith. What does that tell you? Baptism garauntees nothing.
But if someone does not want to be baptized i would ask, why not? Just like any other thing we should be doing, going to church, taking communion, sharing your faith, being salt and light to non-christians, etc. If you are not doing what you should be, are you really God's child?

The failure is these people who say they hope or think they're going to heaven aren't being taught the law of God. Their are many who are are called but few are chosen. The Constitution doesn’t quote the Bible word for word. The ideas found in the Constitution come from the Bible…at least over 1/3 of it does.
@Mavors Actually, during the time he wrote the Declaration of Independence Jefferson was an orthodox Christian. When using the word “Creator” it is much more likely he was referring the God of the Bible. If he would have written the Declaration decades later in a different phase of his faith you may be right. However, it is much more likely based on Jefferson’s writings at the time, he meant God.
I already gave you an example how the Constitution references the Bible, but due process and cruel and unusual punishment are a couple more.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I cant know with an absolute certainty but I'm pretty darn sure and there are multiple angles to come from to arrive to this reasonable conclusion.
Firstly, it is either Impossible to know reality and truth or it is possible. How do you know there what we sense isnt simply predetermined or wired in as in the matrix? How can we ever know for sure, because the only way you know if you're dreaming is if you wake up and you're out of that box.
However, it is unreasonable to live life in continuous true agnosticism. If you dont know what is real, you cant move, you dont syat direction is the right way.
Hence, it takes faith, albeit a smaller amount to take action on the world we believe to be true.
Reasonable deduction dictates to me with every painting, there is a painter, with every creation, there is a creator. The big bang theory which has apparent withstood criticism time and time again begs the question, can nothing come from nothing? As logical human being, we said that's nonsense. And yet it contradicts the above. Such a fine tuned universe that apparently if the creator of the world was just slightly off, we would not be in existence, such that the probability of us coming to be is virtually 0%. And yet here we are.
From a moral perspective, being an atheist or even agnostic requires me to accept that good and bad people end up in the same place after we die. And yet, in our hearts, it bothers us to know the mass murderer a d mother Teresa have the same fate

If believing in the matrix is impossible, then I suppose believing in God could be just as implausible. Yet we use reasoning. Historical academics claim and support the old testimony and new testimony, in so far that those characters existed.

Have I experienced God? Maybe not, maybe I have, in my bones regarding all the topics I speak of. But it certainly isnt the stereotype of that old white guy staring down and judging us with damnation. Quite the opposite.

His daughter, to remain chaste until marriage and good to all. But stand up against the slew of heathens that come at her door. When we are made Christians, hardwork is only one aspect of it. But do not get that twisted with what the world perceives as hardwork. A man may be productive in many ways, but lose himself to work, career, etc. He may idolize it and make it his god. The problem is in the cracks of identity. Are we going to blame everything on youthfulness, as every person has done one thing or another. Or are we going to see the sinfulness of the society we live in and try to raise our kids with resolve to think for themselves. To not be so influenced by society that the latter becomes the new paternal figure?
The falling away of the church was foretold. It has to happen in order for Jesus to come back. Read the Bible people. None of this should come as a shock to followers of Christ.

The main reason the whole world is becoming more secular is because more and more people are waking up to the fact that there is no evidence to support any religion being true and no reason to believe that a god exists. Frank will try to tell you there is but there are many rebuttals out there that convince a lot of people that he's wrong.
If you want people to believe in your god then you are going to have to come up with reasons that convince non-believers. Arguments that sound good only to people who already believe are just not going to cut it.
You can recognize the evidence or not, the evidence is still there. You want us to convince you when you already set your mind to disagree entirely?
