What I like about your videos is that you really explain how to use a product. I have bought so many items and didn't know how to use them, but you have taught me well.
I am so glad to help:)
I love watching your older videos (new to me!). Great techniques for using gelatos. And a beautiful card!
Your videos are really helping me decide what supplies I want to try and what ones might not be something that appeals to me. So YOU are making ME more frugal, Miss Lindsay!
Hi Lindsey❣Just like the embossing folders and gelatos... YOU are timeless!🤣😂 This showed up in my feed today. I'm so excited to get my Gelato out to play with embossing folders. Thanks for sharing the inspiration 💕
That's awesome!
I just can't stop watching what you come up with. Thank You for taking the time to show all of us how to use so many great products. One grateful Canadian.
U never disappoint. I learn new good tips & techniques every time. I luv the idea of gluing the sponge into the bottle cap. Jewell
Frugal crafter lady you are awesome !!!! You have inspired me so very much. You r blessed with your crafty talent.
Oh, I love you! I had purchased belated for a single polymer clay project and have not used them since. You have freed my gelatos, thank you! Can't text too long, got cards to make.......bye!
Glad I could help!
I see these gelatos every time I go to the craft stores and wind up talking my self out of buying them for thinking I won't get my money's worth out of them. Well, I am taking my coupon and getting them next visit to the store. Love your card!!
hahaha, happy to enable, er I mean educate;)
To start, this card looks complex, but you made it so casually that it makes it look easy. I'm going to try this technique with my 13-yr-old granddaughter. Thanks for the tips and inspiration. I like your style.
Love the video. Great tip on sponges in the caps for DIY daubers! That's a good money-saver and with crafting supplies it helps to save wherever we can.
LOVE IT!
You will get a kick out of this...I asked my hunny if he would start saving his screw on lids to his drink bottles...he quickly replied w/o even skipping a beat or looking up, "Oh, is this one of Lindsay's Frugal tips?" LOL! It totally cracked me up! ;)

I was so glad to hear how you keep you stamps! I keep mine the same way you do! It is easier for me to keep them that way and I find what I need. Love the card you did here! I don't have any of these gel sticks or gelatos yet but I want to get me some when I can. they look fun to use. Almost like using oil pastels when you blend them with your fingers. But so much more to do with them.
Thank you Lindsey for another awesome video! Wanted to tell you that you've inspired me to turn my hubby's seldom-used home office into a personal crafting/art haven and mommy sneak-a-way! I'm so excited and going to fill it with happy, inspiring goodies to play and create! Thank you so very much for doing what you do! :D xoxo
good for you! You will love having a space where everything is ready to create! Happy crafting!
Thanks for another great video! My daughter wants gelatos for Christmas. Looking into the gel sticks and pretty convinced now.
I've seen the regular and metallic gel sticks pretty cheap on amazon. And someone told me they got a set of 12 gelatos with accessories and a book in a kit at Joann with a coupon for $12. Both seem to be the same but there are more trendy colors in the gelatos line:) She will love them!
Lindsay, Woo! You have just been on fire. We're getting a video pretty much every day and I have to say, I AM LOVIN' IT! Thank you for your marvelous creativity!!
phew, I'm glad I am not out wearing my welcome:)
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I have gel sticks which spend too much time sitting in a jar and not enough time being used. This has be excited to get busy and try some new techniques. Awesome.
Wow great teacher we love your talent. Thanks for sharing. beautiful cards.
I love all of your videos....keep them coming these are awesome...I have bought a lot of materials from your introductions and I am loving all of them...My husband on the other hand is not...But he is happy that I am happily creating, so THANK YOU so much.
hahaha!
I love your videos. I also love VSN, I do miss getting VSN magazine in the mail every month. It was a treat to read in the ole' bubble bath relaxation time...lol VSN site is also fun as well. Thanks for sharing your videos and frugal ways. Love them.
thank you, for being so clear, when you explain about a product.
+Georgette Morand you are welcome:)
I love all the different stages on this card. I don't have gell sticks or gelatos but I could probably get close to this with ink. Thanks for even more inpiration.
watercolor crayons and watersoluble oil pastels are similar;)
Love this thanks so much for being so frugal and simple, NO fancy machines or stuff. + I love Gelatos and your techniques. Thanks again!! Love the laughs too thanks for the happy!
Love the bottle cap Idea . The ard is very pretty . I have just been learning about the gellatos.
I'm so glad I found this tutorial! I've had the Gelatos for awhile and had no idea what to do with them. I not only found the answers to the questions I had, but I found more ideas for other projects. Thank you so much!
happy to help;)
Always love your videos........thanks for all the tips just got the gelatos love them........baby wipes are great for the messy fingers as well.....will have to try the make up wedges!
I just got gelatos and loved the ideas. Thanks
I’m sorry I’m 6 years behind...I have yet to use my gelatos due to nerves! My question is: what SU set is the bird from? I collect bird stamps and I’d love this one. Ty for sharing your video!
Great idea for gluing sponges in bottle caps, brilliant!
@@jimflack9462 Hot glue. Lindsay's Stamp School #11. It is dated September 1, 2015. ua-cam.com/video/ActUMTGpcg4/v-deo.html
A friend gave me a few gelatos and I love them. This card is beautiful and I think gelatos would be a good investment for me
Great tutorial and card Lindsey thanks.
thanks for watching!
Hi Lindsay another great video !
I tried them and love'm but I have a problem with my paper. When I rub the baby wipe the paper pills apart ....until having a hole, and I am not wiping hard. do you use any special paper like water paper ? Thanks !
no, just cardstock, are you using think paper? Make sure you use lots of gelato so the wipe has something to blend:)
thefrugalcrafter .
Ok I found out !!
The problem comes from my baby whips ! Can you believe that ? They are too rough !! These are brand new from my new country ! I just can't believe what it can do on baby skin !!
With the other brand it works perfectly !
"a smudge is an opportunity for embellishing"
Love it!
Love this card. Gelato's are great and fun to use, I love using them in mixed media. 💞
Very pretty card and nice tutorial. Thank you so much for giving me a great way to decorate.
thanks!
Really pretty card. I love the way u make it look so easy.
Glue booger jam - classic Lindsay. Love your uninhibited commentary!
I have a question, my gelatos seem very firm. They are not creamy anything I can do to fix that. Almost like they are cold. Thanks
Try lightly heating them or spritzing with a bit if water
I just got some gelatos so this was a very timely video. Thanks for all of your fun videos and keep 'em coming!
I love the way you just jump in I'm always a title to hesitant when it comes to stamping. I think I over think the whole technique thing Really enjoy your videos
Thanks for sharing your techniques. I just discovered gelatos, & love'em!
Very pretty! I learn so much from watching your videos and how you compare products :)
I use the end of a pencil's eraser, the abrasive kind, to make sure my surface isn't greasy or gelly when I try to glue things down. Even works for crayons. Just a tip for some folks out there.
Lindsay, Do you need to gesso your cardstock when using gelatos or use them on watercolor paper? Your card is so beautiful!
Nope but you can if you like
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich thanks Lindsay, I prefer not too. I knew you would be able to answer this.
As always you show me something else that looks really easy and turns out to be so pretty. I am trying hard to limit my areas of interest due to financial and time constraints, but it's a hard battle when you keep coming up with so many different things that seem to be simple to do but turn out so pretty! I have been faithfully following you for over 12 years! How did I miss this little gem? Does the cool metal punch you used on the sentiment with the postage stamp type edging come in other shapes and sizes, like a long rectangular one with room for a few lines? What do I call the roll of tape with the glue dots on it, and where could I find some, please? I have a lot of those old little metal shapes for embossing with a hand tool where you have to hand trace around them. Could the old Big Shot hand crank dye cut machine be used in some way to emboss these little plates, or does that take a different machine? Would UA-cam have a video that teaches how to use the Big Shot? It was given to me about ten years ago, and I have no idea how to use it, or if it has all its parts. Does it emboss, or does that take another machine? Sorry. The proverbial bad penny and all her questions strikes again. 🤔 If you didn't do such beautiful work in so many different types of media, and weren't such a great crafter and teacher as well, would I so faithfully turn to you with all my questions? The price one pays for artist greatness is a high one indeed!
Yes, the big shot and be used with all and any embossing folders and dies. Dies are cheaper than punches and you can find them in any size or shape you like. There are lots of die cutting tutorials out there to look up. Have fun!
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you for taking the time to send my an answer. You are always so kind that way, and I know you have to be one of the busiest people on the planet.
Love it! I don’t have an embosser. I’m wondering if it would work to use a stencil and molding paste for a similar technique?
Sure!
great tuto, beautiful card!!!! thank you so much. hugs from Belgium.
Will it smear? Do you set it with something? Love💜your vid! Just picked up some with 40o/o off & 25 0/0 off everything! Yay! Glad my hubby hasn't a clue of my stash of crafty stuff! You make me want to try ALL the goodies you show us! Lol, my poor pocketbook! Haha! 💜😄👍
one they are dry the won't smear unless you have a really thick coat in that case you can spray with cheap hairspray:)
Just beautiful
Happy video. Thank you so much, have them, haven't used them due to dryness. Your suggestion to Lynn helps me too. Thank you.
I recently bought some stamps and they came with 4 gelatos!! Had no idea how to use them. Thanks for rhis video. Are you dipping the gelatos imto water off camera before rubbing them all over your stamp?? Thanks again! Very helpful and fun!!
+GmaPat89 no, spritz the stamp with water if needed;)
Thank you so much!!
Thank you, I have often wanted to color the raised portion of my embossed image but it always smudged the background, the gelato works great. I also have had no luck with loading my ATZ adhesive applicator, if you get a chance can you do a how to on that as well. Thanks again.
I have not used these, I was out of crafting for a while, are they still available? This is a great effect
They are! There are other similar products too like the mungyo or prima watersoluble oil pastels with less packaging, more product and cheaper so being late to the party pays off!
Frugalcrafter, hi Lindsey, tried sending you an email but failed. Just one question, saw u once used Pearlescent watercolour cakes, CAN I USE THEM ON FABRIC? just had delivery and can't wait to use them. Feel i know u so well, love what u do. JEN in the UK. x
if you are not going to wash the fabric it should be fine, otherwise use an acrylic or fabric paint.
Great Video Lindsay!
Hi when they dry do they smudge color off? Worried about someone getting color on themselves when opening the card
Can you stamp over the gelatos?? I don't usually like the washed out look, like on the sentiment.
Gelatos are kinda greasy especailly if you do not wash over them with water but I think pigment ink would stick well. You will want to heat set it though to make sure it dries:)
Where can you find these colours? Look like fun
any big craft store
Lovely colors ~ thank you
Your card is so beautiful! love it very much!
thank you:)
Did you dip the gelato in water before applying to stamp? Thank you.
I think I spritzer the stamp first
please help!! my gelatos are dry and crumbley. yours look like lip gloss, shiny and smooth, gliding across the stamps. Are mine no good? Are they fixable!! love your ingenious ideas!!! Ty
please 4th
+Nankpossi Bidouzo what does that mean?
Did you prime the card stock with gesso or something?
Nope
You mentioned making your own glue dots, how do you do that?
use aleenes tack it glue and make dots of it on wax paper and let dry.
Thanks for the tips🌸
thanks so much...just got some, and haven't used yet!
Lovely work Make up sponge / bottle cap genius new their would be a reason to keep bottle caps thank you. Had a look at Gelatos recently on line, seem very expensive is it because they have become popular. really enjoying your videos thank you
try the Gel Sticks, they are cheaper than gelatos because they are marketed to kids. They work the same, I use both, You can get a set of 12 gelstick for $10 or so:) If your big craft store has them you can use a coupon:)
Thank you I am in the UK and we don't have craft stores of any size or quantity, only one in my town and makes them very expensive, we do not have the range of products you have . I have looked on line no Gel sticks and the cheapest Gelatos are £12.00 plusP =P for a colour set also to combine P+P is difficult as customs charges are via postoffice so you pay an extra £7.50 for every £15.00 (unless under this) declared plus extra for the initial postage are you bored yet Lol so I will have to wait and watch, are they more ink or paint and are they acid free. Really enjoying your videos. Thank you
Bootoyou298 some UK viewers recommend an online shop called Create & Craft TV, does that ring a bell? Maybe they would be a less expensive option. Watersoluble oil pastels are also almost the same as gelatos, perhaps you can find them? Crayola Portfolio ones are great and $8 a pack of 24 USD anyway:)
I know them well if you want to know more please advise how I can mail you
I will have a look for the water soluble oil pastels thank you
I have had no luck with using stamps. I give the stamp full coverage (even re-inked my stamp pad) and pressed hard on the paper and half of the image does not show. What can I do to get better images? I am really frustrated.
Check out my stamp school playlist:)
@@thefrugalcrafter I saw your video but it still doesn't answer my question of why it is so difficult for me to get clear, crisp images. Sorry
Hi Lindsay, a great video as always! In previous posts you've said that "Simple Green" is an auto cleaner. Would you or any of you other wonderfully resourceful viewers be able to help me find an Australian equivalent? Thanks so much! Keep up the fabulous videos - they make my daily commute so much nicer. :D
I'll ask my viewers in the next ask a crafter and see if anyone knows!
We learnt that if we make a mistake we can easily turn it into a happy accident!🤣LOVED IT!😍
This was very helpful, TFS Gorgeous card, jane
Thanks so much for sharing ..
Beautifull….!!!!
Thanks for the video! Thanks for the link too!
Very pretty. Thanks for sharing :)
How do you make your own micro dots?
With aleens tack it glue
