the first time I saw and heard it, it was in my country in Portugal.
It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life...
they came with the iron maiden, and in the first part of the concert, the w.a.s.p made everyone forget the maiden.

I saw him in Michigan in concert after that first album with Armored Saint. They were the opening act and they were the best. I didn't care about the other bands after they played. They were not happy about being the opening act, and so maybe it was their motivation to really knock it out of the park and be especially good over the others and they were. !! Wow!! Amazing voice and show.

He's so philosophical. I love that he took the time to let people ask him questions, and he spoke from the heart to answer them. I met him back stage in Waco, 84 when he was with Iron Maiden. All i remember, is that he was strikingly handsome and tall! Being a 6ft female, you take notice of a guy that's 6'5~ he was a stunning creature. I have followed his music ever since. He's a brilliant man, and equally as talented. Back then i looked at him in a different way, now he's the person you'd love to sit and have a long chat with. He has stories for days and days. :)

I've been a W.A.S.P. fan from day one. And I've been watching several of these interviews/meet n greets lately. Blackie (like a lot of us 80's rivet-heads) has matured a lot, and has a much different look on life. I'm wondering why there aren't more questions about the 'Golgotha' album. And I've heard there are some songs he simply won't perform live anymore.

    • @rscotta831

I'd like to ask him why he hasn't put out an album since Golgotha. Michael Sweet can't put out an album (band, solo or project) fast enough...every 12 months or so. Time is ticking away on our idols. Blackie has wasted 7 years now without a new album (not an Idol retread) and went 6 years between Babylon and Golgotha. Time is ticking Blackie.

The person you are when you are 24, is so different to the person you are after 50. You still love and adore the type of people you loved back then, but you wonder how you were ever so naive about the world. That has been my experience and I think it is fairly common. Another thing is eccentricities. If someone is eccentric when they are young it is cute and novel, and people may roll their eyes, but if someone is older and eccentric then people start to think the worst, like they are a Michael Jackson type.

    Operation mindcrime is great!
Crimson idol is different, a lot darker and heavier.
I actually like Neon God better than Crimson Idol.

Thank you very much for this awesome metal journalism. Frankly his answers are sort of dumb...#2 for example...He says a lot of things that are very "no s-- sherlock." Speeding up to 2 times speed makes it good.

At this point, not saying you can't make a good living at music, it's in some ways more difficult and in some ways easier. It seems you can record and distribute your music fairly easy nowdays. Getting your stuff on spotify and such doesn't seem to be that difficult. On the same hand, album sales are a small fraction of what they were 20 years ago and unless you have a huge hit, you're not really making much money from spotify. Now that the pandemic is over, acts can generate income from live appearances -> merchandise at these live appearances.
All that said, making it big in entertainment of any kind was never ever easy and for every successful actor on tv or movies, there are 1000 you've never heard of. So the best advice seems to be have a plan, but have a back up plan, whether it be college or some skill you can fall back on when you have to pay the bills and entertainment doesn't provide for that.

Maybe if Steven Edward Duren treated and respected his band mates equally monetarily they wouldn't have left him. Chris Holmes is the best guitarist he ever had and ever will.
