- This elder forest, the source of life, growing here a long time before first humans appeared, but as soon as nine tribes settled, they proclaimed themselves as true and only owners of these lands, began the bloody struggle with each other and nature itself. Slowly hundreds of troops cut their way through the wilds, dying, killing, destroying. Entire generations were sentenced to death when immortal leaders sent them to attack impregnable fortresses and besiege the well-protected cities, and with scientific progress, wars became even more catastrophic. Over time people invented the aviation, atomic bombs, and guided missiles, then they finally were able to crush nature for good, living in harmony with only death and self-destruction.

- Amazing last war [no spoiler], 1st and 2nd place very honorable and well deserved
- Celts, despite losing, developed the only global religion
- They also defended heroically against Russians despite horrible situation
- Berlin, Fortress City, constant hardcore siege and it is defeated only after spawning 4!!! citadels
- Siam didn't lose because of its failure to capture Berlin, because then they'd be swarmed by Aztecs anyway; no, they lost because of tech, during the deciding war they had riflemen and cannons while rusia gw infantry and artillery - no way to win that
- Japan totally had the potential to win the game, they lost because of very unlucky geography between two other major empires and had to defend against devastating two front war :(

I thought the game was pretty much over when the Aztecs and Japanese kept fighting while Russia was swallowing Siam, and thought it was gg when japan was defeated and Aztecs only controlled a quarter, but holy fuck, I was not expecting that final showdown to be so intense and down to the wire.
I was actually expecting Japan to beat the Aztecs. I was rooting for Aztecs from the start but just thought that after Japan took Dublin they would go south.
That last conflict was incredible. You literally couldn't say for sure who would win until the very end. Excellent AI battle!
Wow! Rarely do you see such an effective nuclear blitz by AI's. Aztecs really looked down for the count, but they survived simply by holding on to that center island the entire game and keeping their navy alive. One of closest top 2's we've seen here!
Fitting the Aztecs built a city in the middle of a lake.
Must admit that was unexpected for me. Russians looked like they had a nice tech lead in certain areas and the tactical advantage, nukes and momentum. Gaining Lake Texcoco right from the start did really seem to leverage some benefit for the Aztecs.
"You call throwing nukes around a military tactic?"

That back and forth at the end there was so tense!! But the Aztecs managed to pull a win out

Fantastic job with the music btw, it's timed perfectly with turning points and major events (e.g., Russia-Aztec war starting in earnest @ 5:38 & the final push by the Aztecs to end the war once and for all @ 6:58)

Wow That was extremely epic with that struggle between Catherine and Montezuma at the end.
For anyone wondering, that last war lasted more than 100 years. For some frame of reference, WWII only lasted 6 years. Imagine how many people would die in a 100 year world war. That would be like if WWI never ended, and for the last 100 years the triple entente and the central powers were still duking it out in Europe.
It seems that Russia just stopped building units after a certain moment. WTF

Damn, it was GREAT. I had bad feeling about Russian-Aztec war and I was right, but c'mon, it was SO intensive, SO unpredictable. One of the best AI fights ever. Dude, you're cool. Keep doing videos!
Aztecs, going for historical accuracy with the lake island city. Naval power really won the final showdown, and Texcoco was essential for that.
Russia had a 14-7 superiority but lost the duel!unbelievable

Yea, that final showdown was the most intense war I've ever seen.
Aztecs, facing off against a much larger Russia, slowly push back the initial push before Russians reverse the momentum and make gains before being finally defeated in a huge final Aztec push.
This map was fucking great.
Aztec victory was assured the moment they took the center of the world. I was rooting for Japan though.
Befitting they take the win in a a lake scenario, seeing as they literally IN lake Texcoco

That was wild. My first pick early on was Japan, but when Aztecs got Rome and the Great Wall I was like, damn they definitely have this. THEN RUSSIA STARTED DROPPING NUKES. Totally thought Russia was going to win, but Monty pulled through in the end!
The Japanese AI really sucks at war so it's better to never pick them at all lol

Part of them just random civs that at least somehow related to the forests, the other part is, well, those who have elephants.

At 6:38 Tenochtitlan had 25pop, then it goes down by one every second until it gets to 12 at 6:46? What could have caused that??
notice same thing in moscow at 5:34 which is exactly what made Aztec win the war (slash population by half in capital city).
I think it is ICBM or something, you basically bomb the hell out of their city and cut pop by half? Not sure... someone will come enlighten us sooner or later
And later carthage too. a war is won by the supply chain you have, clearly if cut off the most industrious cities' output, you are done for.
Since it was gradual and no radiation on that part of the map, I say it must have switch something in the infrastructure. Seeing they were at war, I guess it switched from things that adds to food to more production - allowing themselves to do pump out more units in to fight the war despite their citizens starving to death. Brutal.

Tug of war map with two civs on each end of a single tile wide stretch of land. If you want three civs, then you could make the land like the mercedes benz symbol without the outer ring and start the three civs at the ends of each ray.

@Farrah ivanova history lesson: USA and Soviet Union were in a massive nuclear arms race during the cold war. They have waaaaaay more nukes than any other rich country. For example USA and Russia currently have about 6000 each. The next closest country is China with 300.
