You confirmed my suspicion, thanks!
@@vinceatkinson7016 im not sure, I would check with you local turf/landscape supplier and ask. Or you can order online from Heritage PPG or United Seeds.
The best time to water a lawn is usually very early in the morning, around 4-6 am. This is the time when the relative humidity (% moisture air mass can hold) is at its highest (meaning it can't hold much if any additional moisture) and the air temperature is at the lowest point (near the dew point temperature). This means that the air can't hold much more in additional moisture. When this occurs, you'll have very little evaporation happening so this is the ideal item to water the lawn. This window is fairly tight and even in the 7-9 am timeframe you'll be losing water to evaporation since the relative humidity and air temperature can swing quite a bit in a matter of an hour.
Thats good information to know. My irrigation starts at 3am and is done by 7. What I stated in the video is the time you want to have your irrigation completed not starting. So we are in agreement that the start time is going to be very early to be completed by the timeframe stated. Thanks for watching.

Of course shade provides relief to the lawn but that also comes with a different set of challenges also with moisture management and disease pressure. I actually have a video that shows the downside of growing grass in the shade.
@@ElevatedLawnscapesIndeed. However, disease pressure and water management are constant issues even when fescue is located in the sun. Fescue grown in mostly shaded conditions reduces or eliminates one of the main variables, heat. Fescue is labeled a cool season grass for a reason.
@@dalewiley9208 Growing in sun you have more control of moisture management due to the grass being able to dry out after rainfall or irrigation. Whereas in shady areas moisture is held for longer which is a double edge sword when we cannot control rainfall. It can be debated and opinions can be spoken but there is supporting evidence of why sod farms are in full sun and the performance of their turf. Speaking with 2 of those farmers in my area their best turf comes out of areas in full sun and not the shady areas. Fescue will do just fine in heat with proper cultural practices. As always your lawn looks fantastic and better than your neighbors. I will be performing some leveling with sand and top soil in the next few weeks. In efforts for a last August/early fall overseed project. Stay safe my brother.
Looking great my lawn is looking its best it has ever looked in tbe sumer. Im hoping to keep doing what i been doing and mabey skip the overseed and go straight nitrogen blitz and pre e in the fall
I need your help. My plan for the month of August is to do a over seed of my KBG with a TTTF Blend with 80% KBG. So I started cutting my lawn lower until I get it down to 2- 2 1/2 inches then give it a deep Dethatching and core aerating. I asked my lawn service not to fertilize and not to put a weed killer on the lawn at this time because of my over seeding plans. They said that the fertilizer that they would use would have no effect on the seeding. However when they left their report in the mailbox, it mentioned the presents of a weed called Wild Violets and that they treated for it. I live in Connecticut. I’ve taken samples of soil from different parts of the front lawn and sent them off the the Lab and it came back with very good results. So do you think I should go forward with my Over Seeding plans at this time or hold off a fight with the weeds in the early spring. I am SO pump to get started, but I don’t want to waste applying the seed if there’re not going to germinate. Any advise?
I would call them and ask exactly what herbicide they sprayed. You can Google that herbicide and find out how long you need to wait before seeding on the label.
My tip for natural lawn care is water, cut, fertilize it and dont use any other products on it. Repair damaged areas in the fall with overseeding. Its not that different.

This time of year if you don't want fungus in your cool season lawn you almost have to use a fungicide or deal with the damage and repair/recover in the fall.
Hi. Im up in Long Island NY. Does the Fescue turn yellow in the winter like Zosyia does ? And which type of Fescue will you recommend up in NY ? Thanks.
It can depending on your temps. It may not go completely dormant or brown like Zoysia though. Zoysia is a warm season grass type to it goes completely dormant during winter. If you are looking for a fescue I would recommend any of the cultivars from Mountain View Seed.
I like Zoysia lawns when installed in the right conditions. It is a warm season grass type so you will have to deal with the brown winter dormancy depending on where you are located. In the transition zone it performs well during the summer months. It has a slower grow rate compared to most warm season grass types and seems to get by with lower inputs. Most warm season grass types perform much better in full sun or mostly sun locations, if there is a lot of shade it may not perform as well. So, I think it is a good option when installed under the right conditions. BTW MVP Genetics apart of Mountain View Seeds has developed a newer Zoysia cultivar that they are working to get into production. Thanks for watching.

I used Spectracide Weed Stop and it did a great job. So I'm going to use the Sun Joe scarifier as an aeration tool for my 7000 ft yard, then drop that MVS. Is there anything else I should do EL?
Sounds like a good plan. I would recommend lowering your height of cut from your normal cutting height. It will make using the scarifier easier and the cleanup easier.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes One last question on this... when is the latest (month, etc) I should be dropping the seeds (I'm in the cold weather zone - northeast corridor)? Keep those videos coming! Loved the live video from last night.
@@upper510 Its not a hard date it's all weather dependent and we all know that changes with the wind. A rule of thumb is you need 30-45 days for seed to germinate and mature before it gets its first freeze. That is the latest limit. I would recommend 30-45 days before your first frost to be safe. Cool Season grass will be ok with a couple lite frost and keep growing.
Your rotation of fungicides is may vary based on what diseases you experience/have potential for in your area or lawn, so it may not be the same as mine. At different times of the season I rotate Propiconazole, t-methyl, Armada, Mefenoxam, Azoxy and phosphites (applied every 14- 21 days late spring through overseed grow in).
@@ElevatedLawnscapes awesome thanks for the feedback. I’m in Maryland and the humidity and heat is crazy so it’s been really challenging this year!! Appreciate the information!👍🏼
I understand. It went from a dry spring right into the typical wet July. July is actually on of the wettest months in Maryland. Combine that with the heat and humidity, then you have crazy high disease pressure.
How often do you recommend fungus control. I have applied mid June and mid July. Should I apply again? I understand it's a preventative meaning you cannot wait until you have fungus in your lawn. Please advise. Thanks. I have been using yard mastery products plus N-ext liquid products.
That lawn looks awesome, just wondering if you are northern or more in transition zone. Just curious if you get cold winters like mine and how the grass looks after cold and lots of snow.
I'm in Maryland. So we can get some dips in temps during winter. Coming out of winter ny lawn is typically completely brown and yellow with no color. I have a few videos where I show that and I think I have posted some pictures on my community page during the winter months: ua-cam.com/video/gNzlZgVDyKY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/pfJD6JiE76s/v-deo.html
In Greenville SC my beautiful green zoysia turns yellow in June and July in a 7’x 10’ area. Odd that the remaining grass is good. I water every other day 6am 10 mins. Thoughts?
There is an obstruction of some sort underneath the soil surface impacting the growth of the plant when it gets hot. That's my initial thought from the information provided.
E L your yard is Amazing. Can you share what grass seed is in your video or where I can get Mountain View grass seed. I AM IN THE NC AREA. Thanks for sharing tips.
Thanks 🙏🏾! I am working on a potential online option for everyone. As far as locally in NC, I'm not sure you will have to check out your local seed distributors and see if they have it.
I'm wondering about the safety aspect of fungicide. Seems to me that there'd be some residual leftover and it would most certainly transfer over to anyone or anything that spends time on the lawn.
Most fungicides are safe to people and pets once they are dry. Also, some fungicides are labeled for vegetable use which could already be in use on the foods that you actually consume into your body. I don't think you are outside eating your grass so I would say fungicides are safe for home lawn use. Be sure to read and follow the labels for safety precautions. Thanks for watching 👍🏾!
Great video Sir!! I know you said on videos before you have sandy soil, what your schedule for that in normal summer not humidity or dewpoint time. I have sandy loam in NJ.
Cutting cutting my Mountain View at ~2" in my back and side yard that gets a lot of shade this time of year... Back yard actually has one part that gets more sun than the rest and it's still going strong... Side yard has a few struggle spots, but area of the yard I'm working on amending because it has a lot of gravel washed out from our old driveway (have fixed that issue with a small retaining wall) that's built up over the years... Not doing too bad so far, mostly just areas I had already identified as still needing some work.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes It's definitely been hot and the humidity is ramping up now so we'll have to see how it holds up. With the shade, like you said, hopefully it's the right combo... I've only watered the back and side yard I think twice with the sprinklers so far... Every time I've mowed it so far, the clippings still seem like the grass is getting the water still, like the clippings are saturated, but definitely dry, same with the soil.

That was a very informative and interesting video. Thank you for sharing it. It made me subscribe to your channel. Thank you.
Im glad the video was informative. Thanks for subscribing 🙏🏾!
What type of grass do you have bro? Looks great!
Thanks man! Its turf type tall fescue mixed with KBG.
Hi sir, would you list the names/groups of fungicides that are being used? Thanks
Check out the fungicide portion of the video. It covers that question.
I have a few videos where I show that and I think I have posted some pictures on my community page during the winter months:

What type of grass seeds do u recommend?😊
I'm guessing that is a joke 😂
Typically its spoon feeding fert and fungicides monthly. Water and mowing 2-3x per week.
@@ElevatedLawnscapes 🙏
Cutting cutting my Mountain View at ~2" in my back and side yard that gets a lot of shade this time of year... Back yard actually has one part that gets more sun than the rest and it's still going strong... Side yard has a few struggle spots, but area of the yard I'm working on amending because it has a lot of gravel washed out from our old driveway (have fixed that issue with a small retaining wall) that's built up over the years... Not doing too bad so far, mostly just areas I had already identified as still needing some work.
Nice!!! Im planning to get down to 2" this fall. We will see how it goes.
Man how you getting those stripes with no strip kit your lawn is immaculate@!!!
Thanks man I appreciate it 🙏🏾. The lawn is really healthy and thick right now...too thick for the density I want it to have. Thats what is contributing to the stripes.
Can you please give me some advice on how to get rid of bugs and ticks it has gotten to a point that my kids and dogs can't go outside and play I'm in the MD area i really need help 😢
You will need an insecticide application. Talstar, Proflex, Bifen, Permethrin are products that can be used with a sprayer.
Great video! I am a new subscriber to the channel!🎉 You have great content!🔥🔥
