I just love the “Tonight we all die young”, it’s so simple yet so epic.
The key change for the 2nd "die young" is very iconic I feel, barely even know this song but I knew that part.
It’s actually the original chorus The Rev had written for the song and they gave it its own section at the end of the song to pay respect to him
Said it before, I'll say it again. Not Ready to Die is a must. That song goes HARD.

If you’re looking for a song to dedicate to The Rev try Fiction. He literally wrote the song before he died. So good. Long live the Rev!!
The rev wrote a lot of Nightmare before he passed Fiction was just the one they left his scratch vocals on
All I’m saying is they said Jimmy wrote it 3 days before he passed and it was the last song he wrote and they decided to leave his vocals on the track because it was only right.

@@ZDS1865 yeah yeah, he had a lot of contributions to the Nightmare album as a whole there's leaks of his demos on yt, but youre right i believe fiction is the one he was still writing as he passed which is why his scratch vocals dont have actual lyrics but they kept em in anyway to honor him

I believe the Rev laid down the drumming before he died. Mike Portnoy brought it to life for the album.
That is indeed correct sir, he did all the demo tracks and Mike put all the finishing touches The Rev would've added on. No wonder Portnoy was one of his biggest inspirations.
He did for most of the album but this song was way different than it turned out to be when the rev passed, so mike had some parts to go off of but a lot of it was mikes own stuff

i think hes ready for fiction, the last song the rev wrote before he died, they actually used his voice in the song

God, I remember when I first listened to Save Me back when Nightmare dropped. I was blown away by the whole album, and then that final track came on and took it to another level. I like Exist, but Save Me will forever remain their masterpiece to me. The entire thing's just fantastic, but I always get chills and tears when the "No pulse inside of me..." part begins. Really feels like a Requiem Mass for the Rev.

@@MrC33412 Im pretty sure that there were some songs that he got writing credits for because Jimmy wasn't around to help write every song before he died (Ex: So Far Away & Save Me)
@@MrC33412 portnoy added alot of his own flavor on alot of parts they gave him alot of room to play
In fact, Jimmy created all the drum lines on this record. Unfortunately, for some reason he recorded the demos on an electronic drum set, which made it impossible for them to be posthumously placed in the final versions. There is an interview with Mike in which he comments on each song individually and said that the other guys wanted the drums to be as faithful as possible to the demos and he just had to adjust some details and add some little things.

Hey in my opinion a great chill A7X song i recommended is Angels or Creating God. They are both slowly paced but have a great beautiful melody
To my knowledge, the rev was actually a part of the lyrical writing process for this song, and even had a bit of demo parts he had recorded. But passed before it's completion. I think A7x talked about it in the 3 part video series of breakdowns for this song on their UA-cam channel.

I think more of this track as me against fatality than us (A7x) against the Rev's death. Indeed with a look back it might be a positive spin to it, but those guys were crushed by that event (rightfully so). It's not as much us as an entity trying to find answers, but me as an individual not being able to find any. That's how I interpreted the song back then when it came out ;)

My favorite A7X song. Hands down, nothing comes close to this masterpiece.
