Lyrics (based on what I heard):
Well I’m a rough ridin’ sad mining cowboy born to my feet
I was raised in the heart of the big bold country and that’s where I’m gonna stay
Well the bad lands are my stomping grounds a little misery is my spread
They’ll never be another place I’ll ever rest my head
Cause I come from North Dakota
Where the sun shines brighter and the country’s wider then the sky
    I come from North Dakota
A bigger better country you can find
Well the gals here are about so pretty fresh as an early spring
And when you walk in the morning with a little lady you can hear the morning sing
You know the folks from North Dakota surely are the best
You can feel in your heart that this proud land truly must be blessed
And I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
Where the sun shines brighter and the country’s wider then the sky
    I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
A bigger better country you can find
    Now there ain’t much that I ain’t done ain’t much that I ain’t seen
But there’s nothin’ on earth like a big country and that’s were I wanna be
When the good lord calls me saying “Cowboy it’s your time”
I said “lord let me rest here in North Dakota I’m having such a good time”
Cause I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
Where the sun shines brighter and the country’s wider then the sky
    I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
A bigger better country you can find
Well I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
Where the sun shines brighter and the country’s wider then the sky
    I come from (Come from)
    North Dakota (North Dakota)
A bigger better country you can find

I'm at the Dallas International Guitar show this weekend, put on by a long time friend. It's been a while, but when I get back home I'll do my best to finish up and post the other 4 songs. They're all really good!!
I've met musicians all over the US in my travels, and I ask them if they've been to ND. A lot of them say yes, at which time I tell them they should play one of the songs on this little flexible 45rpm if they really want to show their appreciation for the good life in ND! And of course to win over the crowd! (The goal of every performer). 🙂

Glad you like the ND song. There are 4 more. North Dakota is great place to live, and most born here have the best manners and are very patriotic!
We’re from a military family and have lived & traveled all over the US, literally from top to bottom and west coast to east coast. It’s a precious one of a kind country, that half of our current population haven’t a clue what it took (family sacrifices) to get here!! I know, I’ve lost family members protecting our life in every generation since the early 1800s, including more recently my Dad and an Uncle.

    BTDT, I'm old enough.
Having "Growing Up In Mandan (GUIM)", I've listened to 'K-Fire (KFYR)' and 'K-Bomb (KBOM) for many, many years at the time, I've enjoyed songs such as this.
We might be in "fly-over country" to some, but that never lessens our lives in DakotaLand, imho.

      I remember Mandan well!
I played in a couple of bands between 71 and 74, based out of Minot, that played so much around North Dakota that we didn’t need a map anymore. We thought we were rockstars, so we usually blew into every town with a slight attitude. Consequently, we weren’t treated very well, then, especially with our long hair.
Well, here’s an update on where us long haired ND kids went.
      1. I went on to get a BSEE, & spent 38years as a senior design/test/prod engr for DOD in many high profile systems.
      2. Our organist finished his degree at MSC, & went on to manage several large plants in the DFW area.
      3. Our drummer got his technical degree in Tx, worked for Rockwell, & now for L3 Harris, a major DOD company in Tx.
      4. Our singer, from Devils Lake also worked in production for a DOD company, but sadly has passed due to cancer.
      5. Our bassist went on to be a regional guru in the SE. He speaks many languages now.
Well, there you have it, that’s where those ND Hippies went.
-> Vote for Kelly Armstrong for ND Governor!!!! He’s da man!

We are looking forward to visiting North Dakota during our travels. We are retired military so we might stop in at the Air Force Base too.

Wayward Waggs, if you’ve never seen the base it’s quite large. Lived on base 60-64, then back in town 71-74. Waking up at 2am with all 52’s taking off within 18-20min is a rumble you never forget. My Dad was a 52 pilot.
The missile squadron folks are there too, so lots of folks.
Its flat as a pancake there!

The North Dakota State Fair is in Minot, late part of July. Good time to visit the base if you’re planning on a summer trip up North.
No sure if the nuclear proof PRIDE bldg (Professional Results In Daily Efforts) & Cold War alert shacks are still in use, or if you can even visit them. In the old days you could. (We live in a different America today)

When I met my bro-in-law in Guam in 1971, while I was on R&R from the Army in Vietnam, and he was stationed at Andersen AFB with USAF, we talked about our lives beyond.
We had grown up as schoolmates in Mandan, along the Missouri River of North Dakota.
I found no opportunities within the state for my skills, so I left to go elsewhere.
Yet, he had some time to go with his enlistment, so he requested to be stationed at Grand Forks AFB as his first choice.
He was asked, "Why the hell would anyone want to go there?"
His response was something like, "BTDT. Love it. Can do it. No problem." He did that.
