On December 8, 1970 John Lennon was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine (Jann Wenner) in support of his new album, "Plastic Ono Band" (released December 11th). Full of bold, "Beatle myth"-busting statements about their image ("The Beatles' tours were like Fellini's Satyricon"), their fans ("I resent performing for fucking idiots"), and their accomplishments ("I don't care about the whole conept of 'Pepper'") - as well as candid comments on drugs, Yoko and the cultural changes of the past decade, it's perhaps the most famous interview in rock history.
Exactly one decade later -- December 8, 1980 - John and Yoko were photgraphed in their apartment by Annie Leibovitz for Rolling Stone's feauture on their recently released album, "Double Fantasy". Just as the former LP -- and its companion interviews - saw John's stripping away the aura of the Beatles at the dawn of the '70s, the latter album -- and its companion interviews (most famously in Newsweek, Playboy and Rolling Stone) - offered candid reflections of a middle-aged couple that "survived the '70s" and was optimistic about growing old together and raising their "beautiful boy." Needless to say, that never happened, as John was gunned down later that same day outside his apartment. These are the songs John worked on in that apartment during his years out of the public eye and without a record contract. These are the songs that captured him between the post-therapy, ex-Beatle Rolling Stone interviewed in 1970 and the house-husband eager for a star comeback.
As 1977 turned to '78 Lennon was secretly working on "The Ballad of John and Yoko", a planned Broadway musical about his life and wife. He wrote program notes (posthumously published in "Skywriting By Word of Mouth" - notable for his blunt recounting of his life with Yoko and his priories at that point, "I've already 'lost' one family to produce what? "Sgt Pepper"? I am blessed with a second chance. Being a Beatle almost cost me my life, and certainly cost me a great deal of my health... I will not make the same mistake twice..."). He also wrote new music for "The Ballad of John and Yoko": three of the songs for the tentative musical have since been released with posthumous production added ("Real Love", "Free as a Bird" and Yoko's "Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him"). Three others circulate only in bootleg forms: "She's a Friend a Dorothy" (0:00), "Whatever Happened To..." (3:56) and "Mirror Mirror On the Wall" (8:25).

The following demo (and completed lyrics) are something that I have been trying to get Lena to work on with me for several years now. She has veered away from this one because it’s a sensitive topic and alludes to what Lena perceives was a misspent youth and/or a lurid past of addiction, missed opportunities and pain.
I assure you, it is and was always meant to be a testament to her STRENGTH and perseverance, and to my own determination to reach Lena. Here it is:

I'm not sure that you got all the lyrics down right. How about, "And she going to nowhere, keeps herself in the dark, hides her head in a scarf, got herself hooked by some shark." And for the last line. "And your boat is burning fast".

They didn’t, that was in John’s original demo, they actually had to cut that out because it was an interpolation from The Shangri-Las “Remember (Walking in the Sand)”

In the description of the video you mention that John was writing a musical called the Ballad of John and Yoko and that program notes about it was in the Skywriting by Word of Mouth book and you also mention several songs that were written for the project.
However when I search about information regarding this online I can't find anything to verify this. I only get search results that show the 1969 song of that name and also that it's the title of John's autobiography in the Skywriting book, but I don't see any mention of a planned musical that shares the same name, even when I read about the book's content. And there are no articles or forum discussions or anything regarding a musical- there's only a mention of the musical Yoko did in 2005 about John's life.
Do you have the book? Could you maybe upload a photo of the program notes you mentioned? I'd love to see it. I'm really curious.
