I have a Sena SRL2 Mesh with a 2021 Gold Wing. The trick for foolproof CarPlay operation is pair your Sena to the Wing (as shown here) and *_TURN OFF_* Bluetooth on your iPhone so that its only connection is to CarPlay by cable. (Note: you can also have the Sena paired to your iPhone for app configure purposes when not riding.) When riding, having an *_active_* Bluetooth connection to the Wing *_and_* to your iPhone causes unpredictable control and functionality issues. *_You want only a single Bluetooth connection from the Sena to the Wing when using CarPlay._* Also be sure the audio output button selection on the Wing is set to headset, not speakers.
I also have Sena SRL Mesh/Shoei Novotec x 2 & Honda Goldwing 2022. I have done all this and can either have music to one or both our headsets OR intercom, not both. I have two headset connected symbols on the dash and I have toggled between speaker and headsets, also Bluetooth switched OFF as you say on my iPhone, so frustrating! I have the SENA SLR-02 and a 2021 Goldwing. I was able to pair my phone to the Sena and the Goldwing and I was able to pair the SENA to the Goldwing but music from the Goldwing continues to play through the speakers and not the SENA and yes I have pushed the toggle button to switch between speakers and headset.
When you use the Sena utility your headsets must be paired to the phone. Turn off your bike, pair a headset to your phone then use the app. Disconnect and forget the device. Follow the same procedure for the next headset. This procedure guarantees The bike/Sena configuration is unaffected.
So if I am listening to pandora while connected to apple car play is the music going to be coming out of the speakers of the motorcycle, the speakers of my Sena, or both?

Once I turned bluetooth of between my iPhone and the bike, and had only cable connection, Carplay then connected perfectly. Thanks for the tip!
The trick is you connect your headset to the bike only. Turn on let bike recognise headset then plug in phone. Works every time for me
Thanks for the tip. Once I "unpaired" my phone from the Goldwing so that the only connection between phone and bike was the cable, worked perfectly!

and don't forget to unpair the headset from you phone when you're done changing the settings or it will cause problems...

Hi Matthew, the sound will come out of you Sena headset if you are connected to the bike.
If you pres/toggle the headset/speaker button on the console it should switch between the two
