- The Cross Block is another effective way to check or block body kicks. In this video I got over the cross block and how to effectively land counter strikes after successfully blocking a kick. Key points to remember:
1. Your lead leg (knee) will attach to your rear elbow. This will create a wall so the kick does not sneak through and still do damage.
2. Your should stand tall on your support leg. This will give you a strong base. NOT FLAT FOOTED! If you are flat footed, a powerful kick will send you flying off balance.
3. Your block will wind up like you are about to pitch a baseball. This will load up your REAR HAND and line it up for an effective counter strike.
4. As your lead leg is dropping back down, AT THE SAME TIME, step into an effective RIGHT CROSS and any other additional strikes.
