Such a beautiful mirage and I really wish we got these as well! I used to see these daily, but since one or two years they have disappeared from the roads entirely. Great to see some people in Japan still love them! They kind of reminds me of my first car: a 1990 mitsubishi colt. The same one as the red Mirage Cyborg at 1:31, but then a GL model in silver.
Really? Well, here's a closer look at it: mihara-jidousha.com/2017/10/14/%e4%b8%89%e8%8f%b1%e3%80%80%e3%83%9f%e3%83%a9%e3%83%bc%e3%82%b8%e3%83%a5%e3%80%80%e3%82%b5%e3%82%a4%e3%83%9c%e3%83%bc%e3%82%b0/
The "abandoned" mivec is not an rs, if you compare the 2 between the strut towers and bulkhead, the rs has an extra plate welded in for a bit more rigidity, which the parked up one doesn't have.
plastic bumper cars have been in europe to my knologe since the late 70`s, the one i remember was the renault 5, regarding that model mirage (i know it has colt) i dont see them now all that often , but there`s a lady client in my friends mecanic shop that has a coupe version of it imported from murica, has the same rear has the lancer V, if i`m not mistaken it was a mitsubishi CE lancer coupe
You could not throw a stone in ireland in the early 00s without hitting one of these.if the japanese wonder where they are gone id say most of them were sent here.
i really like this car, had one with 2.4 Mivec Engine single cam swap making 190HP at the dyno :) and got another one Blue Coupe with 1.8 single cam fixing this one in to a Asti RS :) really fun car for me. Thank you so much for this Video!!
In puerto rico we got the coupe and sedan versions and they were called the mirage and the sporty one was the mirage technica. And they were all fwd. Everybody wished they brought these stateside but weren’t lucky. Here it very much rivals the 90s civics. Alot put v6 engines from the galants or evo heads and they move.
A very nice example, also quite a common car in Australia, in a way they are the Honda Civic of down under, in that a lot of Mirages in AUS are decked out with fart cans, enormous chrome wheels and all sorts of other tacky modifications xD
the last mirage i seen here(USA) was a year or so ago and planer looking than that one and possibly smaller ,i believe it was the lowest price car with almost hybrid gas mileage
Can you believe these are rare here too? However there are still billions of sedans. And i agree, i like the looks too, i bet they are very fun to drive. The only thing that surprises me is that the engine is not covered with a dumb plastic cover, now that's old fashioned and i like it :)
The RS is fantastic to drive on twisty roads. My one has the evo brake and lsd options. The engine is also great with the RS cams where mivec switch point is just above 7000rpm.
@@dwlee022 I've just driven the regular 1.3L model, a friend bought it just 2 days after this video got uploaded. So much fun to drive, i love my friend's car, the transmission is slipping a bit unfortunately
Wish we got those here in SA, but we got bugger all 90s JDM cars. Don't think we got a single mirage actually, have seen some old colts n pajeros, thats our Mitsu line up, no evo's even, except for the odd 10.
Sorry, Brian. That's a Google question, not a WasabiCars question. For me, the joy is in the actual car spotting, not the specs. (Though I do some research to make the vids (which I don't enjoy))
Yeah I just reasearched it a bit the hatches were never sold here except from my understanding 3rd gens were sold here but under the name Dodge/Plymouth Colt and the Eagle Summit. Anyways the 4th and 5th gens rearends scream French to me especially the 4th gens
Man that owner really takes care of his car, much respect!
We had Mirages here in North America but they are scarce here as well

In Malaysia many years ago, we have rebadged Mirage Cyborg R known as Proton Satria and Satria GTI.
Ahmad Faisal we had that in uk as well
not rebadges, its have slower non mivec engine
Meanwhile in Australia they’re everywhere
Yeah. I saw them every day. Heaps at a wrecker, too. Zip in Japan.
mirages are everywhere here in australia, but i doubt there are many, if any, Mirage Cyborg ZR/ Mirage RS here!
Here in Germany they are known as Mitsubishi Colt.
👍
here in philippines they were all known as "BOXTYPE"
Same here in Argentina,Colts are underrated
typical german eh. p.s german cars are SHITE

You have a very toxic personality
Never, ever, ever seen a Mirage Cyborg RS on Australian roads!!!
Agreed. Plenty of the lower spec versions of course.
I’ve got a mirage RS in blue imported directly from Japan. Only 2 ever made in blue compared to 1,300 made in white
Oh! Nice one. Lucky you :)

It feels like we imported almost every Glanza left in Japan
Cyberdyne Systems every glanza starlet turbo and twin cam and most of the civics as well 😂
Don't recall seeing many Mirage Cyborgs about, there were definitely heaps and heaps of Colt about though.
@@borgrs1448 I picked up a 2000 mirage a few months ago in Wexford! Haven’t seen one for sale since
Nice video, Dan. I love my Isuzus, I love my Mazdas; but it's good to see some Mitsulove too! Great montage by the way.
Thanks, joe. I just have to do montage so nowadays. I spot so much stuff (except Isuzus 😣)
Thanks for sharing Daniel your videos are always enjoyable. I'm in the USA so 99% of the cars you share I'll never see

I wish they brought that Pajero Evolution to the states. Ever since I saw them racing in the Paris-Dakar thru the desert I always wanted one
i wish we got these in australia
One of the best and thanks to happy Japanese man for being so kind
More mitsi for me please
Thanks, David. More Mitsubishis to follow of course. :)
We are glad enough to have in Europe the GTI version of the Colt who produces 140hp from the 1.8 4G93 engine.

I have the mirage coupe, but has the 4g15 single cam. I don't think USA made dohc.
GT's Performance i heard that they just swap a dohc head from the older evos.
We had the Mirage here, but not that hatch body style. Mainly the hardtop coupe and sedan. And the 4G92 is a unicorn here in the States anyhow.
A very nice example, also quite a common car in Australia, in a way they are the Honda Civic of down under, in that a lot of Mirages in AUS are decked out with fart cans, enormous chrome wheels and all sorts of other tacky modifications xD
In the USA, the hatch was only offered up through the previous gen to this one.
nice, looks well kept. personally not much into this gen, but i do like the older ones, that cyborg one for example :D
It's sad how many of those cool 90s cars have disappearead in japan...
Yes, and 80's cars, and 70's cars... :(

@1:40 We never had a EX Turbo variant here in Philippines... Just a 1.4L or 1.6L N/A saturn engines..
I've never seen a hatch version of this car, rather shapely I might add.
Yes its an RS
The rs & the cyborg sweet cars, great job 👍
Thanks, mate
Hey guys, are these things fwd? im guessing so but wiki told me they also made awd models?
Mirage Cyborg.
eg hatch??? lol
