Im so sorry for your loss. I hate watching these, but every time, i scroll, and it shows up and can not not click on it. I got hooked at 13 to OXY. 20 years later, by the grace of God, i lived through countless ODs. 2016 was the last time i was high. I turn 41 next month, and my heart goes out to everyone who deals with addicts. God bless, thank you
She didn't know she was dying - with fentanyl, it's so quick you just feel like you're going to sleep for a bit. Very sorry for the loss of your daughter, and you did your absolute best to get her help.
I work with people addicted to drugs and the #1 key is they have to want to quit .. you can place them in #1 World renowned facilities and it doesn’t matter… they have to WANT it and its a conscious decision daily to not use… its difficult because drugs change you so its definitely a battle but people overcome.. praying for all struggling with addiction
This happened to my sister, she was partying in the house and when they found her dead they moved her to her car they later confessed. Bet. She was in the house of her friend, my gut tells me they moved her outside before police was called or her found. Addicts have no friends, just associates of misery.
Addiction is so complicated, your baby girl is lucky to have had you when she needed you. Grief is such an unending journey, because it is a reflection of the depth of your love. Hugs to you all.
Absolutely heart breaking story of parents who loved their child beyond words. I am sorry for you loss, opiate addiction is cruel and withdrawal is torture on the body and mind.
What a powerful episode. Thank you for sharing your story and for your advocacy. You are saving lives. Unfortunately it is too late for Lauren but you are making a difference. It is nice to see mother and father working so closely together. Please take care of yourselves, your children and your grandchildren. May god bless all of you.
Her crying saying "she just wants to be normal" hits home for me I know that feeling. Praying for this family and to all families. This drug is horrible
WOW...THATT WAS HARD TO WATCH...VERY INTENSE INTERVIEW...I FEEL SO BAD FOR THE PARENTS & THEIR DAUGHTER...THE PAIN ON THE PARENTS FACE IS ABSOLUTELY HEART BREAKING...THERES NOTHING WORSE THAN LOSING YOUR CHILD...IT STAYS WITH YOU THE REST OF YOUR LIFE...TIME DOESN'T HEAL ALL WOUNDS...IT JUST SLOWS DOWN...PRAYERS FOR LAUREN & MOM & DAD
Relapse IS part of recovery! Each time I relapsed, I learned more about how NOT to fall back into the trap of addiction. It took me MANY relapses until I found my sobriety. Suboxone finally saved my life. It took many, many months to rewire my brain after years of addiction. Methadone didnt work, because you can still use opiates. But suboxone will block other opiates if you relapse. The 3 month shot works best, but you have to stay on suboxone for at least a year, then taper off VERY slowly, especially as you get down to the lower doses!
What a beautiful child! You did everything right. I agree that this epidemic has been ignored by mainstream media. They should be ashamed! Godspeed to your daughter. May your story reach others! My daughter is an alcoholic. She is NOT high functioning. I tried to help but she refuses any kind of rehab. So I am so afraid she is hanging with the wrong crowds or selling her body to get a couch to sleep on at night. She refuses to come home. She is 33.
Unfortunately, parents grieve over these children and it’s heartbreaking. I went through this with my son when he was in his early 20s. I finally had to do the tough love which I hated and he got his life together. By the time he turned 30. 3 years later he was dying, diagnosed with terminal cancer and died eight months ago. Parents: you wanna blame everybody else for your child’s death, but you look at the truth of it. Your child made that decision. Sorry to be so blunt. It’s their choice and when they do it sometimes it’s deadly. I pray for all the parents that have lost children because of this disastrous drug.
Thank you for sharing. It’s thru sharing our wounds that healing can come. We lost our son and my brothers wife lost her son to fentanyl. These were both smart, handsome and good kids. And to know that fentanyl is here due to political power plays is unconscionable.
So what about about the liquor stores, vape/smoke shops and all places like Grocery stores and Wal-Marts that sale liquor beer and cigarettes that are killing people? Shouldn’t they be shut down and off the streets !?
I’m so sorry for your loss she sounds like a beautiful person. 🙏🙏 both of you are great parents you did everything to help your daughter. I have a 19 year old son my only son and I’d die if anything happened to him😢 keeping you both in my prayer’s. Sleep with the angels beautiful girl😢🙏❤️
This is beyond heartbreaking 💔 I know all about this unfortunately. I have used for 25 years and I been sober for 6 months and it's so hard and your ate up with guilt. You both are such loving parents she was blessed and you both are blessed to of had her❤
What a beauty! Sorry Mom and Dad. I hear you since the Tylenol break out in covid we were constantly reminded on what to do and what not to do. I want to come to an epidemic by just taking our beautiful family away from us seems nothing being done. Thank you for sharing Lauren story. For every story I hear a candle is lit. 🕊️🤍🕊️
Tylenol could happen to anyone. The public thinks fentanyl poisoning only happens to addicts. We are addicts they think. And, the subtext is, oh well, they live by drugs they die by drugs. We have to have an epiphany about what addiction is and how we should not judge addicts but love them.
He's right the fact that it is potentially in all illicit street drugs that kids can order to their house off an app was news to me until I started watching this channel. I had no idea young kids who were experimenting with drugs were dying all the time.
These parents are so strong. Thank you for selflessly doing this video to save lives. I'm so very sorry you lost your independent, compassionate, smart, beautiful daughter. Through you, she still has so much to offer the world. May God bring you as much peace and healing as is possible.
I did opiods for 17 years. I do not blame anyone but myself for my use. We cant blame others for what we decide to put in our own bodies. I am sorry. Once you take responsibility for your own actions then you can get help. Whether she met him.or not, it was the cards she was dealt. God has plan amd a purpose for everything. Seek God with all your heart. ❤
@christinekowalski6132 100%, you can tell how angry mom still is. Blaming the boyfriend is normal, but we all chose to use. Yes, codependency makes it a lot tougher, but in the end, it's a choice we make. Blaming others prevents you from fully owning it. That being said, my condolences to the family.
I experimented with drugs when I was young and I had no problem putting anything down until I met oxycodone. That started a 10-year battle that ended up with fentanyl. Opiates are on a totally different playing field then everything else. One thing I recommend is try not to blame everybody else. You're going to be living with resentment for the rest of your lives. Her boyfriend was somebody's son also and you never know somebody's background.
I always feel so weird hitting the like button for these videos, because I hate these videos. I hate that videos like this have to continue to be made. I agree with this Dad that mainstream media has an obligation to provide coverage of this epidemic on a daily basis. Shame on the leaders of our country to not Do Something about this. RIP Sweet Girl.
Bless you parents. I am so happy to hear you did get justice for your daughter. What a beautiful soul. My nephew chose to visit his father and his partner after 4 yrs of sobriety. He passed in 2022 in his father and partners presents. Nothing was done. The partner also died from fentanyl about a month later. Nothing done. My prayers and thoughts are with you always 🙏🙏🙏 The only decent way to see it is she does not have to chose anymore. God has her... Peace be with you both
This is completely heartbreaking to watch I am so sad to hear what happened for someone so wonderful to die so young because of drugs I also understand because I married a really bad person as well in my life has been hell for 28 years either myself eventually slipped into crack addiction and it was only because of Jesus Christ that I was saved I got on my knees and I asked him to save me and he did I am 15 years clean praise and glory to Jesus Christ I pray that God will lessen Your pain because this is so painful may God give you peace in your heart
The saddest thing in the world is seeing the parents' eyes brighten as they describe their child's accomplishments and loveable qualities, then their lips tremble and their faces fall when the horrible realty of their loss comes back. We all lost these promising young lives.
all the best to mom and dad. I wish more people cared about other's struggles. I think it's quite odd that some associate compassion and empathy with weakness. Helping someone else doesn't mean they are taking something away from you. That's not how it works. god, if only we cared enough.
IMO, relapse is NOT part of "recovery" it's part of "addiction." I have been sober for 35 years. You have to WANT to quit really, really, really bad. One day at a time. For the rest of the life. 😥 I'm sorry for your loss. Drug addicts often come in very pretty packages that hide the usage. Everyone is a "functioning addict" until they're not. It's a progressive disease that can lead to death if you can't maintain long-term recovery/sobriety. As addiction is never "cured" but only "managed" on a daily basis. Until the day you pass. There is no "end date" when it comes to addiction. Once you "trigger" the family genetic predisposition to addiction, if it's in your family tree background, you get addicted twice as fast. And you can't go backwards after that, you have to stop. And create new healthy habits instead of using. You have to stick with it. 😎
I hear you, but this is a false equivalence. Those folks buying Tylenol were not seeking an illicit drug. By far, those who end up dying from fentanyl were seeking illicit/unprescribed drugs. We need to be honest about what is occurring in this country. Why are so many in the US seeking illicit/unprescribed drugs? We have to start focusing on the real problem.
I am truly sorry for your loss but in the end, life is about choices. She knew about the risk yet still made a ultimate choice. That's not everyone and everythings fault. Addicts and alcoholics make choices and again, in the end , it's those choices that either lead to life, prison or death. Choices have consequences.
@@TexasPictures we’re just coming from a standpoint where, certain family members when they are interviewed will place just about total blame on dealers if not all. It’s refreshing to hear stories where they acknowledge that it’s ultimately their loved one’s choice to have went after what they desired in the first place. Them not being ready to let it go. Her mother said that she wanted heroin. That’s really where she went wrong. So happened to be these particular people had it laced with fentanyl but if it wasn’t them it would’ve eventually been a demise one way or another because of her choice to continue to get high. Her father said addicts don’t consider consequences and this was an example, they just seemed to not focus on that ultimate choice SHE made.
Lauren had a heart of a child even as an adult. She loved, forgave, accepted. Loved, forgave and accepted. The true meaning of Gods love. Gods heart for all of us. I'm so sorry to her parents, for having to bury their own daughter. No parent should ever bury their own child. Rest in peace Lauren. I know you are no longer hurting.
I’m just an hour away from Morgantown and travel there probably once a month. Fentanyl is rampant where I live but I never hear about it in Morgantown. I suppose there’s nowhere safe from this mess. I’m so terribly sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter, and so glad that you fought so hard for the conviction of her killers … because that’s what they are.
I have 4 narcan kits in the glove box of my car at all times. Not for Me but for someone I see nodding off and losing the battle. If we're going to be Patriots and save Our country from the enemy then We have to cover all aspects of war. Rest in Paradise Lauren🙏
I've been through detox 3 times for prescription opioid and benzo withdrawal. I've never heard of anyone detoxing in less than 7 days...that's the minimum. I always had to do 10 days.
For those too young to know what they are talking about, in 1982 seven people were poisoned from tainted Tylenol. It was all over national news on every channel. It happened in the Chicago area. So, where is the national news reporting about Fentanyl? Where is the panic of American citizens over the tainted drugs (all drugs can be exposed to Fentanyl). Hopefully our next administration will do more to stop this epidemic. Thanks to Texas Pictures for the exposure. RIP Lauren. May God be with your precious family as they cope with unimaginable loss.
What a nightmare for these families! Rehab seems like a scam, accepting that there will be relapse does not seem helpful. That just gives an ok that they can use again.
Drugs doesn't discriminate, you can be beautiful, rich, owner, it doesn't matter, it will take those also. I know drugs are everywhere but west Virginia is one of the worst places!
it's so sad that the halfway house was run by a crack addict. How difficult to know what to do to help the user when you want to try anything to save them. I have heard that in California some halfway houses are planted with drug dealers to assure the halfway houses don't lose the profit of a customer. Corruption and profit over people is so evil.
There’s not enough information in the story to determine if he was bad or broken. The storyteller knew him. She has a basis of knowledge beyond what she shared here.
I hate liking these videos. I'm so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful. You're right. No Parent should have to kiss their child goodbye. I hope this new administration really clamps down once and for all on this terrible tradjedy
The cops don’t care the court don’t care maybe it happens to their kid. They will care but they just think everybody’s drug addicts and they deserve it. They chose that it’s very sad.
They don't deserve it of course. But if you are a smart young person (and she was- as so many others in this reportage), you need to say NO. No matter who gives you a pill or any drug. This first no or yes is a choice
I have watched a couple of these "episodes". And what strikes me, is in most of them, those kids had a loving home, were smart, had friends, hobbies, had everything going for them etc. So what went wrong?! At one point the mother said that Laureen thought she was taking heroin...well, that's not okay either. I AM sorry and feel your pain. But what is going on with so many young people? Saddens me. I'm asking as a non American.
You can have the greatest, most supportive family ever, but if you fall in with the wrong crowd, it's over. Better to have no friends than to keep bad company. Young people get introduced to drugs by "friends."
So sad. If this epidemic was about Black people this show probably would not have aired it. I’m sure they were the intended targets. Then they could sit around and talk about “those people”. Black people are affected too but not like they thought they would be. A common thread too is the parents blame everyone, no real accountability. The truth is, it’s a horrible complex disease. However, people have to want to stop or they may not want to stop. But if there’s going to be any hope of survival, they have to stop! It’s hard but no counseling, rehab, medication is really going to help unless they stop! Parents also have to make a big deal about drinking and drug use, especially these days. Even cigarettes and marijuana smoking is dangerous . Drugs have always been bad but it’s worst now. My heart goes out to these families. I’m glad they caught the dealer. I’m praying for their peace.
I agree and there is No accountability in this testimonial.. its everyone else.. and no one said anything about poison during the crack and oxy pandemic…. Fentanyl does not discriminate and we are seeing that from all walks of life
I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Thank you for the bravery in sharing her story. This needs to end. It's an epidemic and something needs to happen.

Only 7 people for Tylenol covered by the media and over 300k for Fentanyl and no coverage. What does that say about us as a community?

Dad’s analogy to the Tylenol poisoning is spot on. Why isn’t more being done about this?
Same with Covid! They wouldn't shut up about it for 3 years even though it didn't affect young, healthy folks.

Wow… very powerful!
First time i got teary eyed from your videos... I know God has a plan
Sad!
Very sad for your family .
It sucks. Can’t trust anything not prescribed by a doctor and dispensed by a pharmacy. Even then it’s probably not good for you.
Drugs doesn't discriminate, you can be beautiful, rich, owner, it doesn't matter, it will take those also. I know drugs are everywhere but west Virginia is one of the worst places!
EMS should've immediately administered naloxone. But should've could've. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. My heart breaks for you.
it's so sad that the halfway house was run by a crack addict. How difficult to know what to do to help the user when you want to try anything to save them.
I have heard that in California some halfway houses are planted with drug dealers to assure the halfway houses don't lose the profit of a customer. Corruption and profit over people is so evil.
My Brother also died of fentanyl poisoning. He was outside in his backyard sitting on a chair and he passed away.
She didnt fall in love with a bad person, she fell in love with a broken person, just like she was .
There’s not enough information in the story to determine if he was bad or broken. The storyteller knew him. She has a basis of knowledge beyond what she shared here.
These so called rehabs are criminal
His comment in the Tylenol contamination should make ya think!
I feel like there ARE tons of news stories about fentanyl???
There is a reason the gov hasnt stop drugs from coming here
Totally agree and why the mainstream media is silent about it as well. BUT, there's a new sheriff coming real soon!
