Great review of the fragrance and it's history. A criminally undersubscribed channel!
Welcome to the channel 💪🐏
Rumour has it that TDH is 50% iso e super in its formulation. I observed people around me seem to dislike or rather irritated whenever i put on TDH. It’s one of the only designer ‘freshies’ that I really enjoy wearing. When the flint note hits, it hits right 😊
50%?! Thats crazy... thanks for watching 🥂
Terre d Hermes original formula from 2006 to 2012 fantastic scent timeless one of my favorites of all time 👌
Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
Their new H24 EDP with oakmoss might be something youd like, bit old school meets new school
Nice! Thats what I hear.. I would love to try it one day ... thanks for watching & commenting 😊
When I hear someone talk about older fragrances comparing them more favorably than their newer formulations, all I hear is "I prefer this without the top notes"
That is not true at all lol
There is a big reformulation issue as well, the same materials are not being used now as was being used in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s
There is Cumin in basically every of Elena's works. Sometimes nearly hidden (like in TdH EdT) and sometimes full blast Epice Marine. Its like Elenas running gag.
I dont take it as a gag as much as I think more of an homage to his teacher and mentor Edmund Roudnitska 😊
Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
I absolutely love the Intense vetiver version of this fragrance. Fantastically aromatic.
If you want to get more of that vintage smell/strength out of a recent formulation make a 10 ml decant with 8.5 ml perfume and 1.5ml Iso E Super.
Personally, I like 4ml EDT, 4ml Intense Vetiver, and 2 ml Iso E Super.
Everybody loves to shit on Iso E Super in the fragrance community, especially the snobbish section but it truly makes a lot of fragrances more well-rounded and better performers.
I have never done such an experiment where I mix things like a flanker of a fragrance with another fragrance with Iso E
Sounds like a chemistry experiment 🧪
Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
I love to experiment. Things can get a lot crazier if you mix very different fragrances together and not just flankers. Sometimes it clashes horribly and sometimes the marriage creates a baby more beautiful than its parents. @@RamseytheRam
Great deep dive into this one, it's one that has perplexed me as I like it but it didn't make a connection. In fact the flankers I enjoyed more, however I do feel it would make a welcome addition as would some of the flankers.
I've been wearing my Mona Di Orio's of late and apparently she was heavily inspired my the great Eddie Rouds and they even worked together for 15yrs. Her touch is ER all over, the Cuir is dirty, that's a love. As is Vanille, Dojima, Four Thieves and Vermilion Wood....and the list gets longer!😂
Funny you brought up Full Choke, along with FdB and Rochas Man those bottles I tend to keep at the back of my collection in case anyone gets the wrong impression! Until recently I noticed my Wife's latest Nars acquisition is called Orgasm Blush! So to hell with it, all bottles will be on full display from now on! 👍
😂😂😂 The 🍆 bottle is just insane 😂😂😂
Thanks for mentioning the Terre flankers simon... I would love to sniff them but only if they fall in my lap. Thanks for watching Simon 😊
Great historical context for Ellena's modern masterpiece Terre d'Hermes and it does do a double artsy/popular duality. I have the Parfum too (never smelled the EDT) and it's my #3 favorite in my collection, right behind his mentor's Dior Eau Sauvage EDT. Speaking of Eau Sauvage, I have a recent formulation and one from about 2002. The 2002 version is weaker than the recent batch, probably due to the top citrus notes turning on the older one. But I talked to someone in a forum on Eau Sauvage vintage-modern comparisons, and he said he used Eau Sauvage continuously starting in the 1980's and his father used it before him. He was very familiar with its profile through the years. He says the version today is essentially the same as vintage, that it has maintained its profile well. But I don't notice any cumin in my more modern versions. Sometimes cumin is used in a completely support role, for example I read it can be used to tone down florals.
I think I tried Eau D'Hermes in a mom n pop shop once and didn't like it due to my dislike for heavy cumin. I'm just now coming round to liking Bel Ami and so just bought a full bottle. The drydown is really appealing when the rougher cumin accord subsides. I have Equipage, Equipage Geranium, Bel Ami, Rocabar (early 200's bottle), Terre d'Hermes Parfum, Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche, Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver and Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. My favorite from the house is the whole Terre d'Hermes line, with Equipage second. The Jardin series frag has grown on me. Its beautiful in it's own right.
And I tried Roja Oligarch and tes, its essentially the Terre d'Hermes DNA. But I actually liked my Terre d'Hermes Parfum better so discarded the idea of putting Oligarch on my to buy lidt.
Thanks for sharing my friend .. amazing context😊
When I entered to the world of fragrances never cared for Tdh cause I hated Cartier declaration wich was a creation of jean claude elena. I tought that will be on the same weird vibe. Years ago I tested tdh......such amazing fragrance. Soo smooth, classy, elegant, fresh scent.
Thanks for watching & commenting... i own decleration & really enjoy it & I also enjoy Terre but I dont know if I will get a full bottle... especially since I already own oligarch 😁
Thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
I'm glad you tried Terre d’Hermès. What do you think of the dry-down and the scent trail it leaves behind?
I like it... i really like.. its just with so many other frags that would fill in for a similar situation I dont know if I would get a full bottle 😬
There’s just something about that one that strikes me as off. I’m not sure what it is the only way I can explain it as it has a perfumy smell.
I wish I could figure it out but there’s some chemical smell in that one that just kind of makes me feel a little little bit weird about it.
You probably nailed it man
It must be the pepper and the flint notes that set me off. I just can’t get into it.
I know what you mean Andy... its probably a metric ton of Iso e super & that strange flintstone note 🤔
Terre edt is sublime. And the parfum is simply literally addictive. I don’t know what exactly in it that does that. I even suspected that the iso e super might be addictive to some brains, mine included. This thing will remain a wonderful mystery to the end of time I say.
Yes thanks for watching & commenting
I have since scored full bottles of both 💪🐏
You absolutely need atleast a 100ML bottle of TDH EDT. Sometimes after you wake up, you can feel the woody benzoin dry sweetness coming off of your skin, hours after you first applied Terre.
You need a bottle and use it and let it sit for at least a year before you get a full experience. A dinky 1.5 ML sample doesn't do justice.
I know what you mean about dinky decants 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching & commenting 🤌🤌🤌
It’s weird I never tried the Terre edt ,but went straight for the Parfum, then followed it up the following year with the OG Oligarch edp and yes I actually wore the Parfum this summer quite the bit ,with a Have to say lots of nods of approval from work colleagues, I don’t wear the Oligarch edp much ?? Probably cause it’s discontinued?? But I really like it 😊cheers Rams smell ya later 🙏👍✌️
I did the same thing & skipped the EDT for some reason... i think it has to do with the popularity & not wanting to smell like everyone else 🙃
i 1000% get cumin in the "flint" accord, i totally agree about cumin in edh. i have an almost-empty old bottle (2007) and the grapefruit opening has kinda gone away but thats ok lol. i have an 80s eau sauvage that i dont get any cumin from but it was already 20 years+ old at that point so who knows what had been changed since 1966
Yup it's certainly an homage to the past 💪🐏
I've got the fullchoke bottle and it's ridiculous, hard to spray too. it does feel like a bad joke but the fragrance is great 🐏🦆
Yeah it was beneath Bourdon to create stuff like that.. but as usual he knocked it out of the park 🙃
🐏🦆
@@baratrion never!
Bought recently a second hand 2019 100ml GIT, no difference with a 2017 bottle that I had, and very close to a 2013 decant that I still use. Can't speak for the rest of the line. Maybe GIT was one of the few to not get butchered.
It is possible Creed uses different oil suppliers ... but my hard cutoff is based on a terrible aventus & Himalaya experience... but I have a full 2014 bottle of GIT so I wont have that problem anytime soon 🙂
Thanks for sharing 🍻
"Slimey clutches" 🤭 Still prefer the parfum myself. At one point in my journey I was absolutely smitten by it. Smitten? Slimey mitten? Anyway, I hardly wear it anymore, and only in the autumn and spring. And now with the Eau Givree flanker.....looks like the line might be ruined already.
Yeah I havent smelled the flankers but maybe one day someone will send me a sample or something so I can talk about it on the channel 😊
EYE ONLY OWN THA PARFUM AZ WELL & EYE LUV IT...EYE REALLY REALLY NEED THA EDT...LUV THA HISTORY LESSON MY G 👍🐐👍
Thanks for watching Julio... the EDT is full bottle worthy for sure... I dont know if I will get a bottle since I have oligarch... but its really good... even though its not my style... I have now tested two frags that fall into that category... Ganymede & Terre d'Hermes EDT 😊
Mate that full ch*** killed me lolz😂 what a stupid name, poor Pier he probably didn’t even know about the whole presentation thing..dude awesome awesome awesome review so unique I love these videos.
Poor Pierre indeed... but I am convinced the guy is a genius... not just a paper genius..but a GENIUS 🧠
At this point in time in his career ge was content and created everything he wanted 😊
Dear 🐏
wish I had time to listen to all your stuff... pure 24k gold content. Thank you so much. Never smelled Oligarch and I'm even scared to do it (because wallet) so I'll stick to TdH EDT... Himalaya, need to revisit that and also Eau d'H although will be the current batches....
Terre EDT is masterpiece status in my book, even if I'm not Birkin worthy
😂😂😂
I know excatly what you mean 😊
I only wear Terre D’Hermes in the fall. In the fall, it’s absolutely incredible. For the rest of the year it collects dust.
😂😂😂
Terre in the fall huh? 🍁
I still have a ML or so left so maybe I will give that a shot! Thanks for watching & commenting 😊
🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻😍
Thanks for watching & commenting mate😊
