I just got back from the states. It’s absolutely a shtshow and I really don’t want to go back until I have to. The coffee region is much more authentic and slower. It’s also safer, cleaner and more family oriented. I’m heading to Pereira tmrw to immerse myself in Spanish school so I can flirt with those pretty ladies. And film a bunch of nature. Maybe tattoo some folks. I went Laureles today. Saw about 10 gringos. In Poblado the ratio is crazy. That gringo Tuesday place was packed and all Calle 10 was gringos galore. Great video. You really nailed it. Pereira and Manizales are slow with not much tourist stuff but if you love the outdoors and birds, it’s perfect.

With my trip next year, my energy's been changing from Medellin to the coffee axis. I'll reach out to you before!

You made up my mind I spent a few months in Medellin last year. I just booked a flight to return to Medellin for June 1st because I hate the summer in Florida I will spend 3 months in Colombia once I land in Medellin I will stay for a day or two then hope on a bus to pereira. I’ve noticed that airbnbs are much cheaper in pereira. If I could ask you one question what part of pereira would you recommend

How do you choose pereira and coffee axis to live?
It’s really curious because every foreign people only wants the cities that you mentioned like Medellin and Cartagena and maybe bogota.

🎉On March 17, TIME magazine included Medellin among the 50 best destinations in the world in 2023.
And in January THE NEW YORK TIMES also included Medellin among the 50 best destinations in the world in 2023.
❤Medellin is the #1 city in quality of life in the country, it has already surpassed Cartagena in international tourists and is, according to Dane, the city with the lowest unemployment in the country in 2023.

You are a wise, intelligent, mature soul. I respect that given your age. I resonate with you and I am now in my forties now..For me it is all about nature, spirit and seeking ones true nature and connecting with that. Pereira definitely sounds like a better base for that and am also interested in visiting Putumayo after hearing your experiences..I have visited Medellin, Bogota and Cartagena..It was great in my 20's for nightlife but back then i also had no desire to hang out exclusively with gringos but rather to integrate properly with the locals as i wanted to become fluent in Spanish and feel like a local..Now i am bilingual

You really say some interesting things. I can never quite tell if you are incredibly smart or just luck in to some weird coincidences. So yes I live in Armenia and truly wonder about some of you comments because they seem spot on!

A HUGE barrier is safety. People being drugged and robbed keeps tourists away. Even if it's perception most people are driven by fear. I personally am stuck on where I'll go because I want to do ayuasca but I don't know if I want to invest too much in a place where green go backs are seen as targets. I'm sure most Colombians are good people but it only takes one bad apple to ruin my life. Asia is much safer. Even if they're more domesticated and white washed.

I'd say the coffee axis is probably the safest in Colombia. You are not really expected to be here as much so you just do not have as much crime directed specifically towards gringos, and it tends to be a bit more affluent of an area by colombia standards so you do not have as much petty crime as say Cali. If you are looking for a safe and authentic place to do ayahuasca you can send me a DM or through the email in the description of this channel.

Any country where you have to worry about being robbed each time you leave the house or drugged while on a date with a woman is a bad country. You’ll always have a target on your back it’s a bad life

Pretty good video, but the people in this area want to change and make things better for themselves! But you do not touch on the biggest problem in this area for retirement, the altitude! And the Volcano, Manizales is under a code red today due to the Volcano and air quality 😮!

Hah! I found this video with the idea that I want to move back to Colombia from USA. But instead of Bogotá, like I did in the past, I would move to Pereira. The reason why? Less gringos. Ironic that you made Pereira your central place for the same reason I want to.

Interesting video thanks. However in my experience the only place that n Colombia where many people speak English is in Bogota. Almost no one in Medellin speaks a proficient level of English. So anyone who wants to spend time anywhere in Colombia needs to learn Spanish
