The 'fix' was cool. Maybe not the best thing to do to make the panels merge but it worked. I would say after that is make a Folder and place all those elements that make up the Fix in there and away from the model as you shouldn't have to mess with them again.

pretty convoluted fix to getting it to merge, but solidworks can be like that , its smart enough to know there's a problem but dumb enough not to show you what the problem is, wouldn't knit function fix all of this ?
