Very interesting to see Bill's reaction to the Shehulk comic here since his love for sci-fi before wasn't really there. Based on the fact he really didn't want to do the Hulk show in the beginning but changed his mind when Kenneth Johnson told him it was going to remain mostly a physiological drama and not pertaining to it's comic book origins.
Wasn't there some type of contract dispute between him and Universal Studios during 1 of the later seasons, and he talked about striking unless he got a pay bump?? I thought I'd heard simething years ago to that effect. Maybe I'm wrong
It looks like Bill was actually shooting the classic Hulk episode "Earthquakes happen" at this time cause he had the exact same hairstyle in this interview and wearing i believe the same suit when he was impersonating Dr.Pattetson in that episode.
They mention Bixby’s new sitcom Goodnight Beantown which began in 1983, a year after the Hulk was cancelled. And Earthquake Happen was way way back in the Hulk’s first season in 1978.
The Savage She-Hulk was first published in February of 1980, so I'm guessing this interview was broadcast around that time? Season 3 of The Incredible Hulk was also on the air at that time, Earthquakes Happen was in season 1, episode 9 (1978).

What’s also of note to hulk fans is that in Goodnight Beantown, Bixby’s costar is Mariette Hartley, who played Carolyn Fields in Married.

Now I have heard and read that Marvel was pleased with the success of the TV show and wanted to prevent anyone one else like the Distinguished Competition from snatching up the trademark on a female Hulk ergo the comic book was launched. Albeit I think She-Hulk has more than earned her worth initially she was something done reactionary not really a brainstorm or eureka moment on Marvel's part. I encourage any fact-check if I am incorrect in my assessment of the situation.
I think it's also important to remember that the Women's Liberation movement was in full swing during this time and Marvel was trying to implement these and other progressive ideals in their publications. This, I believe, was one ingredient to Marvel's staying power and overall success.
I know for a fact that's why they made the Spider-Woman comic book around that time. They thought another company might trademark the name and cash in on their concept.

They had cast Brigitte Neilsen, who was in Rocky IV, and later married Sylvester Stallone. She was a former model and was about six feet tall or so. There were even pictures of her in some light green lipstick and a oh-so-'80s leather jumpsuit, so probablyy the movie would've had Jennifer Walters as She-Hulk most of the time, like in the comics. This would've been around the time of the NBC TV movies.

I wrote to Gerald DiPeggio years ago. He penned the screenplays for Trial of the Incredible Hulk and Death of the Incredible Hulk. He told me "Rebirth of the Incredible Hulk" would have featured Ferrigno as the Hulk, but with Banner's intellect. I believe the idea was Banner would physically remain the Hulk until he could heal from injuries sustained at the end of "Death." Bixby wouldn't appear until the final act. Once Bixby died, alas, the project never developed.

The woman made a slight mistake she said in the comic Jen Walters had a Disease no she did not she had been shot and was dieing. it is correct Bruce Banner gave her his blood to save her which in turn caused her to be come the She-Hulk..

I have a copy of issue one...cost me an ARM and a LEG to get it back even at 5.5; used to have an 8.0 copy before I was ruthlessly ejected by an landlord who destroyed my collection
I didn't just enjoy Bixby and Ferrigno, but also Jack Colvin, who played investigative reporter Jack McGee.. McGee was actually not a villian. He actually did some good things and even saved the Hulk a couple of times. He was more an opportunist who saw reporting the Hulk as the break he needed to get off the tabloid rag he wrote for to get on a mainstream paper and get credibility and exposing the Hulk would do that. I found that the episodes with McGee were some of the better ones.
Bixby actually pushed for a She-Hulk TV series. Bixby was producing, directing and acting in "The Incredible Hulk" telemovies, and wanted to do a spin off of She-Hulk, set to the same tone (so nothing like the "She-Hulk" show Disney did). Bixby and Ferrigno were going to guest star in the pilot. The two reasons it didn't happen was that the ratings for the telemovies were poor and the station pulled the pin. Also, Bixby started suffering the effects of prostate cancer, and had to pull out, and since he was so integral, the show was scrapped so he could fight his cancer (which ultimately claimed him years later).
Such a shame because I’ve watched the special features on the DVDs for the first few season and everyone always says without him the hulk wouldn’t have been nearly as good or as memorable. I think he could’ve done she hulk justice.😊

If Bill Bixby had creative freedom over The Incredible Hulk series, he would shoehorn She-Hulk in the later episodes of Season 3 and then rewrite her as the "Hulklette" who is David Banner's non-related mistress.
For many it's sentimental, especially with respect to the comic series from 1976 - 1980. Some of the stories from the TV show were loosely based from the comic series during production.

She explicitly says that in the comic Banner gives his cousin a transfusion, which does not happen in the TV show.
