Congratulations, Tomi. Now the fun begins! For those of us that use a Varigrind jig for sharpening our gouges, we need a bit more space behind the grinder for the sliding arm. For me that meant making a stand on casters and using the space below it for drawers and cabinet.
Very nice setup in your new studio-shop. We have enjoyed the videos of this journey as much as your turning projects. Looking forward to more. Thank you!
Congratulations on completing your studio! My mentor told me to call it a studio rather than a shop so I can charge more for my work. Take a day off and do something nice with your wife since she helped so much with this project. I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos. You will really enjoy having your studio so close to your house also since I'm sure you have production work to catch up with. I am truly enjoying your journey!
Great job 👊 I can appreciate getting everything organized & in its place, seems like I wasted time looking for the right tool in my shop but now since I have a “studio”, I feel more artistic 😂 Now if I can just convince my wife that is carpenter glitter on my clothes & not sawdust 😮 Great work, & you have a lot of faithful followers!
Awesome so happy for you with your new studio. Wow has it really been a month. Time sure does fly. Can not wait to see what you have in store for us now. Take the day off and enjoy family time. Keep up the awesome work. 👽
I'm glad you have your own, custom made space. What I noticed and admired were your mementos of who matters. The photos, the blue bench. Also, that you have it bright in your shop. I do, as well, with many lights for specific spaces or angles or tasks. It makes the place more inviting. My overhead fluorescent tubes took some time to fire after being away last week. I was hoping they might go out so I can upgrade brighter. Looking forward to seeing what you produce there, Tomislav. Have a restful day off.
Dear Tomislav: great job to create your work space. I’m impressed by the time it took you to get there also with (I guess) some work in the house. As for controlling the dust collector I use a distant on and off controller made by centurion. I’ll send you two pictures on your email. The controller is plugged in the outlet and the dust collector in the controller. Then the hand unit puts it on and off. Around 100$ in Canada. A day or two off would be appreciated by yourself and family. Take care.
Very nice, Tomislav. The only suggestion I have is to not use that duct tape on the pipes. Duct tape is not really meant for ducts. The adhesive dries out and becomes powdery over time and makes a real mess to clean up. Instead I suggest aluminum foil paper duct sealing tape. It’s called HVAC foil tape. It seals great and the adhesive does not break down.
Beautiful shop and great use of space! You are truly a Phoenix rising from the "ashes" to soar again! Thank you for sharing your story and journey. You have inspired me to turn again after an 8 month break. Can't wait to see what you turn out next...
interesting modifications! The best I've been able to do for vacuum system is to mount a rectangular funnel on the floor next to the right side of my Midi Lathe. I turn on the vacuum system and open the port, then sweep shavings toward the funnel and they disappear. I hope you do take a day off. That photo shouldn't be the only way to visit with family and friends!
I am an uncle of one nephew to whom I'd love to have the opportunity to pass along my knowledge. He grew up too fast for me and now has a family and no time for shop work. I bet your uncle would be very proud of what you have accomplished and is watching over you as you continue your journey.
Awesome job looks nice and bright and you can’t turn very well if you can’t see very well so I think you get did an awesome job and will be looking for your new videos. Have a blessed night and a blessed day and let’s get her going now.🎉❤
Nice job Tomislav! I've been watching your progress and you've really done a lot in a short amount of time! You should be proud! Looking forward to your next videos.
Looks great! I bet you'll sleep better after knowing you're all organized and really to turn. Take a well-deserved break. We look forward to your new turning videos.
Very well done 👏 you should be so proud of your achievement. So thoughtful of your wife for the photo, it’s beautiful. Now he’s with you always urging you on. The shop looks fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing you turn soon….. not before you’ve had that well earned rest though. Take advice from the guys on here regarding the switching on the dust extractor and happy shavings to you. Kindest regards Helen 😊
It's great that you are all done and all the hard work has paid off. May I recommend you do take tomorrow off but spend an hour or so just walking round the new workshop with a beer, with no intention at all of doing any turning. It is then (for me) that you may notice tiny little things that would make life easier still. Also, I really like the idea of a shelf behind the lathe with a dust extractor cabinet. I only started turning in January but when doing something with a turned in rim I stand the other side of the lathe so I don't have to lean right over. This means I am cutting on the far side of the bowl but the tool handle is right against my body. I assumed everyone did that but it seems I am wrong. What do experienced turners do? Many thanks for all the updates Tomi, I have learnt so much from your videos.
Well Done Tomislav. I agree it give you a great sense of achievement when you do the work yourself. I have modified the wiring on my Dust extractor to always be on, and switched on and off from the socket. the socket has a a remote control switch, and I keep the button on a Velcro strip next to the lathe to turn it on and off. I turn all the power switches off each night to ensure I don't leave thing with power with potential for problems.
There is nothing more satisfying than building something with your own hands. My wife and I built our 2400 sq. Ft. Home in 1985 and I then built a two story 30x40 shed with my sons in 2002. Thanks for sharing! Turning videos soon I hope. Very respectfully, Kevin
Awsome Kevin, can't imagine at this stage to build a house but its super gratify to build this shop 🤗 I can only imagine the feeling when you sleep inside a building you made.... Congrats to you to sir
Tomislav, you have done a beautiful job on you workshop and I trust it will give you many hours of pleasure. The new lathe looks very nice, and I look forward to seeing how it works out for your work.
So glad to see that the new shop is almost complete. Great job Tomislav!!! Having the exposed conduit gives you the flexibility to move things around if needed as you get settled in the shop. Enjoy the new shop!
I noticed the Richard Raffan-style dust hood you created and I wonder if you can still rotate the headstock with the collector in place. Rotating the headstock is by far the best feature of the lathe! Congratulations on the new shop, it looks fantastic!
Wow love the shop brilliant use of space. Look forward to you getting back in the swing of making videos, I've learnt so much from you. All the best from cornwall
Fantastic Tomislav! That must be a tremendous load off your shoulders. You did a tremendous amount of work in a very short time. I've always been of the opinion that one can never have enough light and I'm sure you are really going to enjoy that feature. Finally, that was an awesome gift from your wife -- during the videos leading up to this, your respect and appreciation for your late uncle was obvious -- that was such an appropriate thing to have as a centerpiece in the shop. Looking forward to the videos coming from the new shop.
Excellent tour! And the work accomplished in one month -- phenomenal. I think a dust-collector box is in my future. I've had a table on the far side for years. Time to experiment with a box. A remote switch for your dust extractor shouldn't be terribly complicated. And why do these things always happen when it's hot?! Anyway, sharing this particular journey is as important as it is generous. I appreciate the effort you've made to keep us up to date, even when this means adding to some obviously very long days. We have been there with you in spirit and rewarded in this final installment with your happiness, surely shared by your devoted viewers.
brilliant job Tomi. Can't believe how quickly you achieved such a great workshop. You certainly deserve a day off 👍👍👍. looking forwards to your first turning video but enjoy some rest first. Cheers Tony
Very Nice workshop. Nice and bright with that lighting. And the picture of you and your late uncle is very nice to see in the shop. Enjoy the new shop!!!
Your electrician could put a switch on the receptacle. That way you can leave the dust extractor plugged in and turned on and control it from the switch in the shop that controls the receptacle.
I am so happy you are getting settled in. Amazing the differences in electrical from your country to Canada. PLEASE don’t let my wife see the quality of your work with your tools, compared to my work with my arsenal.
I'm happy for you! Finally you can keep on turning 💃🏽 While I also enjoyed the workshop saga to see how you plan everything out I'm glad we can get back to see you turn some stuff 🤗 Greetings 💃🏽
Congratulations, great looking shop, well done! I have to say when you first showed the rough shop building, I thought you had your work cut out for you. 30 days in and it looks like you’ve been there all along.
I can see the pride in your eyes and hear it in your voice--and it's well-earned. Thanks for being such an inspirational person and sharing your journey!
It was neat to see the process. I will be moving mine from a garage with no heat or air to another location. Different house. I don’t know what it will look like but this gives me hope. 😊
Well done. You've got good lighting there. I'm an electrician by trade, who's recently started turning. Well done on doing a switch junction box! It amused me when you said you don't like working with the more major electrical side of things. I think woodturning is a much more dangerous pursuit! Really looking forward to when you get back to where you left off. And I sincerely hope there are more four-way videos. Hi. Well done on your shop. Looks really well set up and functional. I have a dust extractor tucked away in a cupboard too, with one of those switches. Great job Tomi. A LOT of work but well worth it. Congratulations and enjoy your new workshop.👍 I have recently moved also and am about to start building a new workshop. You've given me a lot of ideas. Many thanks. I'll try to send some photos.
Well done..... Seems like it's time now to make some shavings and sawdust and mess that shop up.... Pray the move for the family goes as well as this did. I agree its time to give your wife some attention... Let her know that we think of her and appreciate what she gives to your marriage as we do for you.
Tomica čestitam Vama ! veseli me Tvoj (Vaš) osjećaj zadovoljstva i ponosa .kako got ga nazvao, radiona, studio ili operativni centar ,ovo je prostor koji zove na akciju . Fantastic workshop! So tidy and organised. Really impressed and very pleased for you. I look forward to the turning videos again now.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning I once put my bandsaw in front of a window for long pieces of wood.
Thank you Mike😀
Welcome back Tomislav. good to see your new shop you built from scratch up and runing. Good luck.
You have completed so much work in the new shop- Great work! Take a quick nap and then get busy!
Very nice setup in your new studio-shop. We have enjoyed the videos of this journey as much as your turning projects. Looking forward to more.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! A great transformation, and very well thought out. Look forward to seeing some turnings!
That is awesome, I’m glad to see you back up and running. Cheers

I might have to change to studio 😄, also been there with the sawdust, I always bring some memorbilia inside😄 specially now without air compressor
Thank you Richard as always, I really appriciate that
😄😄😄 could be, don't have conditions then for studio 🤣

You sound tired but relieved. Hope you will get some rest.Looking forward to some new content. congratulations
Good to see you set up and ready to go. A lot of work you could have done without, but a great opportunity to have things how and where you want them!

You've done a great job Tomislav. I've the same problem with my dust extractor on/off switch and look forward to seeing how you overcome your problem

You're a good man.......you deserve it and it won't be long before you will be turning full time in your new workshop.
Wow great job in a month. You really put in some long days. I like your dust collection boxes on the lathe.

Very nice job Tomislav! Impressive use of the space with a very efficient layout. This shop should meet your needs for many years 🤠🇨🇱
Great to see your new shop set up and ready to work.
brilliant job Tomi. Can't believe how quickly you achieved such a great workshop. You certainly deserve a day off 👍👍👍.

Sehr schöne Werkstatt toll
Weiterhin viel Spaß und gute Ideen.

Congratulations, great looking shop, well done! I have to say when you first showed the rough shop building, I thought you had your work cut out for you. 30 days in and it looks like you’ve been there all along.
Congratulations Tomislav!! I appreciate your updates and looking forward to more of your excellent woodturning videos.
🕶Looks good Tomislav. Very nice shop.
I can see the pride in your eyes and hear it in your voice--and it's well-earned. Thanks for being such an inspirational person and sharing your journey!
Thanks for that, gives me some ideas for improving my workshop.
Tomislav, the shop looks great. Your hardworking has paid off in a great shop and work place. Nice job?
Great work!! You’ve done an excellent job
Great result and looking fantastic layout.
It was neat to see the process. I will be moving mine from a garage with no heat or air to another location. Different house. I don’t know what it will look like but this gives me hope. 😊
Thank you Donna, from this I can tell that next shop you always want to improve where first one failed.
Great job!!! Very nice
The knowledge and technique shared in these videos by all of you is exemplary.
👍
Thank you very much sir
Well played Tomislav. I'm glad things have worked out so well for you.
You did a lot of work in a short time and it looks great.
Congrats on all the progress!!! Hope you left enough room to use your knockout bars! Looks a bit too tight. I just had electricians here today to bring power to my 20 yr old pole barn which will be my new shop. Still need to do more circuits, but progress has been made. Happy to say I am like you, working on getting a better working space for turning.
Thank you Valerie,I did left ,its just the right size🤣
Great job! I have a 12ft X 20ft shop I have a completely equipped wood shop I built it 20 plus years ago. It’s like working in a phone booth. I’m impressed with how well thought out the shop is.
Thank you very much 🤗
Great shop. Great work. You deserve a day off. 🎉
Congrats 🎉congrats..Your electrician did a fantastic job. Great work. Love how you have up graded and updated your tools and equipment. Can’t wait to see you turning again. I know having a smaller shop, but I am sure you will adjust to it and make it work better for you. Best to you from America.
Thank you soo much
Yea!!! Excellent work!
Tomislav, great work on your new shop! Just watched your latest video. I have followed you for the last few years, and I think you are a drawer guy for your tools/ gouges etc. What is your setup now? You didn't mention it. I am a tool junkie and always have storage issues. I am a contractor and started turning about 10 years ago, (just retired) and yours are the best teaching videos, along with your mentor, Richard R. Best of luck in your new shop!
Thank you sir, Not on purpose I skipped somehow tool storage and I keep all the turning tools in the draws below bench and dust extractor wall, but I might make turn bucket to put on top to store more used tools
Best of luck, looking forward to the video,🍀
Nicely done, Sir! It looks very well designed for your specific purposes. I’m sure you will enjoy it for many years to come. Thanks for sharing with us.
Rough appearance? You look better than most of the guys in my turning club! Nice work on the shop ... CONGRATULATIONS!
So excited for you! Now it's time for you to ROCK Out on the Timber! Thank you for sharing your journey! Excited to see the chips fly, soon!
Thank you very much,it was nice to turn again
Great to see it coming together. I love my right angle drill. I have had it for at least 25 years. It needed some work and it was still cheaper to get it fixed than to buy new. Only a few companies make a drill like that and most are cordless. Since I already have several cordless platforms I didn’t want to add another so I had this one fixed. It is way better than the new stuff anyway. I was telling some of the members of the wood turning club about your channel. So you might be getting a few new subscribers. I hope so, I have learned so much from you. Again congratulations.
Thank you Thomas for reccomendation and I enjoy my angle drill,it was one of the better investment
Looks great. I can’t wait to see you turn something on the Harvey lathe.
Your shop liooks great. Extractor... my mate took the NVR switch off my extractor and used electrical cable to extend the reach so that it could be mounted about 6 metres away, beside my lathe, and it worked fine. Remote switcing is a different issue so I would be interested in seeing how you do that, if it's possible.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thank you Brendan, I've done yesterday the same and looks great
Hi. Well done on your shop. Looks really well set up and functional. I have a dust extractor tucked away in a cupboard too, with one of those switches. I just took it off the machine, added longer wire (didn't have to understand it, just extended red to red, blue to blue etc) and remounted it outside the cupboard. Works like a charm.
Good luck from Melbourne Australia.
Done the same yesterday, fit nicely in box and looks and works great 👍
Looking good Tomislav. Full steam ahead now, back into production 🎉🎉
boy , You have done a lot of hard work to get all that done in the time you had .And you did a good job at it too .
Thank you sir
Congratulations on your new shop! It’s been great watching the transformation!
Very nice! Thanks for the guided tour! Hope you Enjoy it for a long time!
Great job designing the new shop! Best of luck with the new space , and the short commute!
Luckly there is no commute 😄 thank you for lovely wishes
Great job Tomi. A LOT of work but well worth it. Congratulations and enjoy your new workshop.👍

Well done. A project that you can be proud of.
Nice setup.
Very nice shop Tomislav.
Well done..... Seems like it's time now to make some shavings and sawdust and mess that shop up.... Pray the move for the family goes as well as this did. I agree its time to give your wife some attention... Let her know that we think of her and appreciate what she gives to your marriage as we do for you.
Family is already here and everything went well with the move so super gratefull for that.☺️ Thank you very much
an efficient shop. By the way, yes it is good to tape the duct joints. The loss of air flow can be substantial.
An excellent job. Well done and thanks for sharing the experience with us.
Enjoy your day off. 😊
