Welcome back to Lightning Springs Ranch. This week we are taking the horses and packing our camp into the high country. Today we have a hiefer that needs some medicine so we need to rope her.
Your Dad showed that he is an experienced horseman! As his horse acted up, he kept his horse's head turned. As you know, this keeps the horse's hind quarters disengaged. Smart man working his horse properly to avoid a wreck! Folks watching this video can learn from your Dad's actions. Great video.
He has definitely been in a few hairy situations over the years haha. We will make sure to pass on your kind words to him! Thank you for watching!
“What do you want to do when you grow up? Surely you’ll want a profession somewhere local where you’ll see all the people you went to school with!”
My honest response:
That’s a great answer!😂
“How long has it been since you’ve been in a bucking horse??” *turns around to see him sailing through the air 😂
Hahaha that was a pretty massive jump.
My gosh, I wish I had left Australia and experienced the different 'outbacks'
Just found your channel, binge watching from the beginning ❤
We are so glad you enjoy it!
the buskin horse is so pretty reminds me of spirirt
He acts a lot like him!
beautiful country
Oh how I'd love to work this job haha unfortunately in ky part of Texas we don't really herd them and take them anywhere like mountains or any other far place, just other pastures!
Another great video i loved it looking forward to the next one
Thank you so much!
Omg I want to live this life!!!!!
It’s the best!!
@@lightningspringsranch do you guys have opportunities for people to visit/ apply for work????
Unfortunately we are still just a smaller family operation and we aren’t hiring but stay tuned for opportunities in the future!
@@lightningspringsranch definitely will!! Do you guys have an instagram?!
I’ve saddled my fair share of horses. I noticed the guy in the beginning of the video put the pad towards the hip and slid it forward to the withers and put on the saddle on. That must’ve been very uncomfortable for the horse
Its actually a great method for training. Or just to adapt to. Horses are very sensitive around their hinds, so dragging that pad up tells them that you are present and they should be aware . Also, how would it be uncomfortable??
Great video!
Thank you so much!
Omgoodness. I found another channel like the 2 of mine favorite channels Painted Desert Ranch and Anchor Branch Ranch. Yay 😁
We love those channels too! So glad you are here!
So glad you follow them too.
We have three horses and each one of them Hates cows. ANd wint chase and we havs a big cattle herd and they like to run in the woods so i bought my own rodoe horse and a friend owned her she is 5 years old and will sort cattle so I am exited to get to try her out when we bring her home and sort cattle again
It'll be interesting to see how she does with our cattle and that but anyway have a good day and stay safe
That sounds like fun!
Should have took it off when she was down
I must have missed it but where's the bear encounter or y'all were just saying that when the horses were acting up
Brego is the dog right
Did you find what was making the horse act up? Glad all are well.
We never did but he was fine the next day and ever since!
Which video camera do you use? Looks cool
We just use a Go Pro 8 black. It works pretty good!
What’s the name of that book you mentioned?
It’s called The Gold Of Carrie-Shinob by Kerry Ross Boren. It’s a super interesting book!
Your shots need to be in the neck for cattle dude that's ridiculous. Also when that same calf got up at 6:53, your man on the horse needs to let go of his rope and you need to KEEP PULLING THE ROPE, the loop will get big enough to come off. This is basic stuff you're going to have to learn. I can tell you're new to this based on the way you walked to that calf at 6:02 you should've seen that coming. You need to go work on some big operations that have seasoned hands who can teach you some things. Also as a personal preference thing, if ya'll are catching but then losing your ropes, you either need to get a longer rope or put rubber on the horn, and either way you need to practice dallying.
Why didn't you just trip her
We should have. Or heeled her. But once I dropped that rope our plans kinda changed haha.
No matter what y'all shouldn't ever leave the kids by there selfs in bear country the bear could have been just waiting in a tree by those kids on the hill but that's just me
I'd rather see some wild horses out there then some cows lol would look prettier against the landscape
You guys need some serious schoolin.
Wdym?
