Everyone of these albums absolutely slaps, 100% agree with this list, these albums just stand the test of time. Going to listen to that Lynch Mob now, one that I have not spun in a while. Great video James! Cheers!!
I played the hell out of night songs as a 16 year old kid my favorite Dokken is under lock and key but tooth and nail is incredible. Love your videos and take on the music we love!
1. Ratt - Out of the Cellar 2. Cinderella - Night Songs 3. LA guns - Cocked and Loaded 4. Tesla - Mechanical Resonance 5. Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation 6. Britny Fox - Britny Fox 7. Slaughter - Slaughter 8. Poison - Look what the Cat dragged in 9. Firehouse - Firehouse 10. Dangerous Toys - Dangerous Toys
Hi Mr B, Great video as always, I enjoy a bit of glam but it's not my focus, so some good ones to check out, looking forward to the thrash and DM videos. Happy New Year, thanks for all the great content, wishing you a great 2025.
Great list from a genre that produced some great music for us teens in the 80' and 90's. I'd have to squeeze in Shout at the Devil in there as well. MC's first two albums were about as close to perfect as possible.
I will 2nd the Spread Eagle recommendation - when their debut dropped I really thought they were gonna be the next big thing in this genre but it didn't happen for several reasons IMO. One factor which may not even make sense is how GOOD the debut LP is - I think they set the bar way too high for themselves to be able to put together a follow up that could come anywhere close to what that was & YES it's that good! You definitely want to find that album & give it a listen - I'd be willing to wager it may replace one of the ten on your list. Check it out!
Awesome list,James. You know I love my Glam metal. I keep meaning to do a top ten Glam bands/ albums list myself. I think the only one I dont like is Winger. They were never Glam metal for me. Mote hard rock/ AOR. But I dont class Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Def Leppard as glam either. 🤘🍻
I'm actually spinning Def Leppard's Hysteria as I type this. Whitesnake's 1987 is a banger too. Cheers for watching and commenting fella. Much appreciated
I still have my original Motley Crue "Too Fast for Love".Bought the week it was released,The sound quality on it is fantastic. Also another top notch band IMO from that era is LA Guns "Cocked and Loaded".
Great video. Those are glam metal classics indeed. 'Night Songs' kinda scared me away back in the day because of the over-the-top glammy image, but, yeah, it's a fantastic album. Just got into Winger myself last year. Awesome stuff.
@This-Is-Music One of the most over the top Glam images but definitely a striking album cover. Winger is superb, plenty of great albums for tou to discover Kim. Thanks for swinging by as always mate. Cheers
Mr. Boulder my favorit glam/sleeze albums are: 1. Faster Pussycat “Faster Pussycat”, 1987. 2. New York Dolls “New York Dolls”, 1973. 3. Hanoi Rocks “Self Destruction Blues” 1982 4. Poison “Open up and say ahhh!”, 1988. 5. Cinderella “Long Cold Winter”, 1988 6. Mötley Crüe “Too Fast For Love”, 1981 7. Ratt “Out of the Cellar”, 1984 8. Def Leppard “Hysteria” , 1987 9. Warrant “Cherry Pie”, 1990. 10. Pretty Boy Floyd “Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz” 1989 11. White Lion “Pride”, 1987.
I love Night Songs it's Doom Glam lol. A good chunk of these I agree with. You know my thoughts on Ratt and I'm not huge on that Wicked Sensation but either way great list and good to see some glam being shown. It's all extreme these days in the VC
I'll be the first to admit I've neglected the Glam stuff lately. I'm definitely going to do a Part 2 to this. Haha, yeah it is a bit Glam Doom I suppose. I definitely know you're feelings on Ratt mate. Cheers as always Mike
Hi James!!! I like when people (vc/music fans, etc.....) refers to this type of music as glam/hard rock instead of "hair metal" that's an hiddeous/stupid term (imho). I like hard rock very much, because it was the first kind of "rock" music i listened back in the day (mid 80's) helped me to discover other kinds of music like thrash, speed, power, classic rock...... To me Ratt and Dokken are my go to bands if i want to listen to that kind of music. I might add to the list Faster Pussycat maybe Bon Jovi (?). cheers and be well
Hey James. Great video! That is my fave Crue album! Fantastic Dokken pick. Thats the only Poison album I like. Warrant! I actually opened for them at their album release party of Cherry Pie. Skid Row!!! All the picks are killer! Happy New Year! Cheers
Not my preferred genres but cool video. Never looked at Night Songs as glam, more pure HM, fantastic album. Do have a couple of Dokken albums as well, do like them a lot. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great vid! But I would replace poison Cinderella and slaughter with-Queensryche operation mind crime Vain- No Respect And most definitely- Def Leppard- Pyromania. Keep up the great content
Love those Leppard and Vain albums you mentioned. I need to listen to Operation Mindcrime more. Thanks for watching and commenting and thanks for the kind words. Cheers
I’m not the biggest Warrant fan, but the other 9 albums are essential & have been in my collection for years! You’re wise to skip that Dokken debut, a few good tracks & that’s about it! Great video, see you next week 🤘
LA Guns have released 3 10/10 albums at the start of their career: The debut, cocked and loaded and Hollywood Vampires. These albums are pure perfection of dirty sleazy rock with attitude. I am writing this BEFORE I watch your video. Lets see if anyone features!
Really nice list, i have different albums from the same bands on this one, in no particular order. I can make a part 2 for sure 1- Appetite For Destruction - Guns 'N' Roses 2- RATT - Out Of The Cellar 3- Cinderella - Long Cold Winter 4- Tesla - The Great Radio Controversy 5- W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P. 6- Mötley Crüe - Shout At The Devil 7- Great White - Twice Shy 8- Poison - Flesh And Blood 9- Def Leppard - Pyromania 10- Skid Row - Skid Row
I would skip Winger and add Bonjovi how does New Jersey get categorized as glam Metal like Cinderella or hard rock like Ac/dc? same question for 7800 Fahrenheit? in place of Winger I would add one of these 2 Bonjovi's if those 2 fall under hard rock I would add slippery when wet the list brings me back to high school and my first job what do you think about Ratt's - Ep and invasion of your privacy? what do you think about these Kix - Blow you fuse? White Snake - White Lion - Pride? my list 1. Ratt - Out of the cellar 2. Bonjovi - Slippery when wet 3. Cinderella - Night songs 4. Motley Crue- Shout at the Devil 5. some of the albums you had on your list 6.
Much prefer the Leathur mix for MC To Fast for Love. Not having LA Guns on this list is a felony....the first album, and if not the second album. And LA Guns is the only band from that era, that still puts out killer stuff.
Not really my genre this James I'm afraid. I'd say Appetite for Destruction by Guns n Roses is 10/10 if you want to include that in this genre, some people do. Can't wait for the thrash and death, that's more me, interested to see what you pick.
Enuff Z Nuff (ST) Vain- No Respect Faster Pussycat - Wake me When It's Over Cinderella - Long Cold Winter D.A.D - No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims Cats in Boots - Kicked and Klawed Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil Skid Row ( ST) Bulletboys (ST) Zodiac Mindwarp ATLR -Tattooed Beat Messiah
@@mrboulder9714 I always give myself a pat on the back when I have a record that you haven't heard of. Ha ha. You should check them out..... All bangers. IMHO.
Cinderella-this is a VERY good album! And it is a bit more ambitious than the rest of glam metal acts of that era but this cover image is AWFUL! Jesus,it is really bad and in fact it does not advertise the band's music well.
You sir, are a hero! Long live glam metal ❤🤘
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video
Everyone of these albums absolutely slaps, 100% agree with this list, these albums just stand the test of time. Going to listen to that Lynch Mob now, one that I have not spun in a while. Great video James! Cheers!!

Twisted sister stay hungry is a brilliant record
Night Songs is superb. Yeah, Under Lock And Key is brilliant, Unchain The Night is such a great opening song
Agreed. You Can't Stop Rock and Roll is excellent too
1. Ratt - Out of the Cellar

Too Fast and Shout At The Devil are both essential. Cheers for watching fella 👍
Nice to hear glam metal spoken about in glowing terms.
Absolutely. One of my favourite styles of Metal. Cheers
Three you didn't mention but are also 10s in my opinion:
Spread Eagle - Spread Eagle
LA Guns - LA Guns

Great video, as always 👍
@CliveBarnesMusic Not familiar with Spread Eagle. The other 2 you mentioned are quality. Thanks for watching and commenting fella 👍
@mrboulder9714 Check out that Spread Eagle debut. Right up your street. Happy New Year..

Absolutely 100% agree. Spread Eagle was grossly overlooked. Thunder Backstreet Symphony is another ine.

You're welcome. Hope you find something you like if you're not familiar with it already. Cheers
Agreed with every word you said.
Cheers and thanks for watching. Much appreciated
This list is my childhood. ❤ I'd have to replace Lynch Mob and Warrant with Def Leppard (Hysteria) and Whitesnake (Self titled). Great list man.
That's amazing to have an OG copy of Too Fast For Love. Agreed on Cocked And Loaded, fantastic album. Cheers fella 👍

Def Leppard- Pyromania.

I like that Vain album definitely, but i like Cinderella's Night Songs more. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated

Great video topic! So many to choose from.
You're right Jimmy. So many bangers to choose from. I'm definitely gonna do a part 2 at some point. Good to hear from you fella 👍
Great list, but in my opinion Warrant's "Dog eats Dog" is much better that "filthy....". Kind regards from Barcelona!
What about Firehouse: Firehouse or Tora Tora: Surprise Attack? Both debut have no skips and perhaps both bands best album from 1989
That Firehouse debut is excellent. Not familiar with Tora Tora. Thanks for watching
I would skip Winger and add Bonjovi
how does New Jersey get categorized as glam Metal like Cinderella or hard rock like Ac/dc?
same question for 7800 Fahrenheit?
in place of Winger I would add one of these 2 Bonjovi's if those 2 fall under hard rock I would add slippery when wet
the list brings me back to high school and my first job
what do you think about Ratt's - Ep and invasion of your privacy?
what do you think about these Kix - Blow you fuse?
