    I actually think the naming rights idea is a great idea to bring much needed money into the conference and help close the gap between the Big 12 and the B1G and SEC, and put distance between it and the ACC. Each individual school getting between $1.8 and $3 million annually for its own athletic budget would be huge. It’s really a matter of getting the name correct. As you noted it can’t be called the Allstate 12. But it would be just fine if it was one of these three options - The Allstate Big 12 Conference or the Big 12 Conference presented by Allstate or the Big 12 Conference sponsored by Allstate

    If you haven’t done so, you should watch a Champions League Soccer Match and the on field advertisings along the edges. Why not?! If you have a huge gap to close it’s an option and you’ve already broken the ice with NIL. Our bowl games now have sponsors and the sky didn’t implode.
    If that’s what it takes to compete against the other conferences…

      Utah does have some advertising on the edges but not as prominent as Champions League. It’s tough with Football though since rosters are so big the sidelines are so occupied by all the bodies there’s not as much space. Honestly it won’t make a huge difference in the grand scheme of recruiting and Bowl games is way different than conferences themselves.

    Dick’s Sporting Goods is proud to present the Big Dick’s Conference.
    Really though renaming the conference is ridiculous, they should leave sponsorships to individual schools for jersey and on field advertisement.

      @@aisaxonawiat6484 that’s not an argument. Most schools could secure their own jersey patch and field sponsorships and would make more money or just as much as the 1.8 million in distributions they’re talking about.. without having to rename to the conference something stupid.

      @@aisaxonawiat6484 I love what yormark is doing and I have faith in him I’m just failing to see how selling naming rights to the conference is better than schools securing their own sponsorship for jerseys and fields.. which unlike renaming the conference, 100% of the proceeds would go to the schools instead of a chunk going into the conference coffers.

    The B12 renaming is a lame move. If more money was involved it would be easier to digest but 3 mil per school is a joke for 20% of the conference owning rights

      @@jonathanwistrcill1336 Right. I know the naming rights deal is only $3-5M. I'm just saying it's not the deal that gives up 20% equity in exchange. That's the private equity deal. Two separate things.

    Boy, you Ute fans are just too good for anything aren't you. The Big 12 moves over the weekend are a good thing. It means they're trying to stay alive. Where's the PAC 12?

    • @michaelpeck1346
      @michaelpeck1346 5 місяців тому +2

      Saying that being part of the proud traditions of the b12 is being too good? You Utah haters are always reaching for something. 3 million per team isn’t going to do squat to close the gap. Kids already prefer the big and Sec conferences, do you really think they’re going to look forward to playing in the insurance conference? The b12 would be better off allowing teams to put corporate logo patches on their uniforms.

      "It means they're trying to stay alive."
      Seems like desperation to me but this is a conference that invited four G5 schools out of complete and total desperation too so there's that. Hilarious.

    • @brentcb2
      @brentcb2 5 місяців тому +1

      The proud traditions of the Big 12 are the quality of football, school pride and fan engagement. Utah will very much be a part of that. Athletic departments' margins are razor thin. It's silly to say $3M a year won't do squat. Email the Ute Athletic Director and see what they think. Corporate logos on uniforms are coming for sure. As for the young athletes, I don't think they care what the name of the conference is. This move bothers me 0%. Call it the Lips and Assholes Conference for all I care.
