I'm an older army, and long before BTS debuted, actually long before they were born, I was a HUGE music fan. I grew up singing in choir as my own musical outlet, but I was listening to classical, big band, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, funk and soul. I've never been able to pin down a genre I could claim to be my favorite. When I discovered BTS about 4 years ago, I found an artist who could represent every genre that I loved, with genius lyrics that lifted my spirits, broke my heart and made me think. I specifically love House of Cards because it reminds me of being a kid, listening to my parents' old classical and big band records, but they brought that sound right into the 21st century without losing what made that old music great.
Laurie...as a fellow 'older army'/avid fan I totally relate...you expressed it beautifully...!!👌 BTS is blessing the world with incredible music (and positive energy!) for all generations to enjoy...!!💜 This song and especially the live performances showed an amazing display of emotions from these talented young vocalists....so much soul and depth...even back then...!!💜

House of Cards is one of those underrated masterpieces in BTS discography, which by the way, is full of them. You might also like Tomorrow and 134340 ;)
The low string notes (is that a cello?) are what set the mood for this song, you can just feel them reverberate in your stomach and bring out the emotion. I love that. But that's just one part of it. The vocals are great, the drops, the high notes, the adlibs... as you said, it's an objectively great song.

Fr this is one of my favourite songs - it has such a strong vibe and it is so incredibly emotive, that it’s impossible not to get submerged in it

You need to check out the live version of this song, it's *chef's kiss* and was one of the things that really made me fall down the rabbit hole all those years ago. They have a whole series of songs like this, actually, from that era. They really dived into the bluesy, jazzy production and songs for a while there. I, for one, really appreciated it.

The producer (and first credit on the list of songwriters) is Slow Rabbit. He's one of the producers of in-house team, but he's now the main producer for TXT (his position with them is similar to Pdogg with BTS)

The voices , the chords, the instruments, all of them sounds like desperation. Beautiful.
I've listened to the song thousands of times since it's release and I NEVER EVER got tired of it. Still gives me chills until now and will never stop. Never in my life does song has so much longetivity in my tastes as much as this one. Usually when I love a song I get tired of it cuz I listen to songs I love TOO MUCH but this and some other BTS songs are exceptions.
Yeah I have already spent hours listening to this song (reacting, editing & then just playing it afterwards) & I can surely say I don't see myself growing tired of this one anytime soon!

I don't know if I'm explaining this well, but I love how this song goes from slow but powerful to even more powerful by them singing together and then it slows down again - and I like how it's not overwhelming - you can actually focus on particular elements of the song, cause they're not on top of each other.
The vocals in this one are amazing. The breathiness and the intensity they deliver are incredible and it makes everything about this song even more epic. I agree with everything you said during this video and I'm super happy you got to finally listen to this freaking masterpiece and I was smiling ear to ear seeing you appreciate this gem.
I love your reactions because you love music and sharing that feeling for great music is why I watch reactions. This song is what got me deeply hooked into BTS and I return to it a lot. I’m sure you‘ll hear this alot but the live of this truly astounded me how perfect the harmonies were and the full band and strings live backing them added alot.

For me, this song, I don’t have much of a background in instrumental music or production, but I have studied vocal music for a lot of years and the vocals in this song are so good! You have various styles of vocals, mostly extremely difficult and they absolutely nail all of them which I can appreciate the skill level that would take. Besides all of that, the reason that music exists is to make people feel something, whatever emotion that may be, and this song definitely makes me feel things. Not to mention the imagery in the lyrics describes certain emotions perfectly with out being to wordy. Beautiful.
I always want people to check out House of Cards, because it’s SO good. But I never know when is the right time to suggest it because BTS has so many good songs to introduce people to get to know and understand the type of music they make. Great reaction. I always watch your video until the end, bc you still have something to say about the song and BTS.
I screamed. That's how I feel about this song. I screamed when I saw the notification that you had posted a reaction to this legendary vocal line song bc I knew 1) you were gonna crush this reaction and 2) HoC is THAT song for me; THAT song that is "objectively great". It is my favorite vocal line song, it always makes me feel some type of way every time it comes on my Spotify playlist! I don't think i ever heard of a person who dislikes HoC. Also you got it right, Singularity and HoC are from the same album that's v jazzy. As for why I love it, it's the emotion, the combination of the dramatic music and the breathy raw vocals, and how it keeps increasing the intensity
But Hoc is from HYYH pt. 2 and Singularity is from LY:tear?? Just wanted to correct that.😊 Both songs are my favourites tho💜

Wonderful, House of Cards makes me extremely sensitized, it's a song that had never left my playlist. The boys did a wonderful job with their interpretation. and I really agree with you it's very sensual, the sonic touch is maddening along with the divine voices of the four vocals. My favorite BTS song! The desperate yearning…I feel their need to prevent what they know is going to happen. They know and are willing to go through it regardless. Whew. So good. The music without the lyrics is so good but wow…the lyrics.
This is actually one of my favorite of their songs. This was an early song. It shows how beautiful their voices were from early on. It truly is amazing. I keep hearing a water drop thru the song thanks for saying that. Yes that breathy note there OMG. I love the jazz feel to it, its like modern day Billy Haliday, the scatting was unbelievable first time I heard it, it blew my mind, I actually have been waiting for you to do this song. I wish they would do another song like this, I think it would be so big today.
I absolutely love this song! From the moment it came out back in, what, 2015-2016? It instantly became one of my favorite vocal line songs. Along with The Truth Untold. I'm not well-versed in any sort of music terminology whatsoever, but the best way I can describe this song is haunting. For me, it has the same vibe as Louder Than Bombs and Lie. 2 more of my favorite songs lmao. Man, BTS makes such good music, I feel like I say "one of my favorite songs" to most of their discography!
I'm obsessed with this song. It's a song that I listen to many times but never skip when it turn up again during shuffle. It's so melancholy and bitter sweet. Like the most beautiful moment that end tragicly, but you're still glad that it happened since you get to experience those fleeting moment while it last.

This is my all time favorite song from them. I was in full process of discovering their discography 4,5 years ago and I had the chance to listen first to their live version in concert. There is this misconception that international fans considered this song as a sexy one just because of the language barrier. Let me tell you that. I wasn't aware of the lyrics, but their delivery was heartbreaking and I knew the lyrics were going to devastate me even more. And they did. It still remains after all these years, my number one BTS song. It is a perfect piece of art, starting from their voices, to the phenomenal production and the stunning melody and story in it. Also... cello for crying out loud. Give me a cello in a song and I am done. Hope you will enjoy the live version as well.

And I absolutely love this song so so much. I don't really listen to this song on a daily basis, but it is a masterpiece and no one can deny that. Everytime I listen to this song it just blows my mind. I highly recommend you to watch it's live performance. Their vocals are phenomenal.

There are two songs that detonate my heart, it is like ecstasy overflowing with sadness. I love this kind of elation and that's what House of Cards and the rap section Outro: Tear give me. And the most recent one that puts me in such a mood is Louder Than Bombs. These are BTS songs that always leave me speechless with delight and sadness at the same time.

Yup, BTS vocals are amazing! BTS make their own music that’s why they can express, interpret and deliver the message and emotions perfectly!
I never get here this early, so yay me!!!! I'm in your 2% as I always watch your outros. This song is one of my favorites as it is a combination of sultry, sexy, melancholy, and longing all rolled in to this beautiful package of vocals and incredible instrumentals. I always get teary eyed by the end of this song, but I can't stay away from it. I always love hearing your analysis and breakdowns of the music and I always come away from your videos learning a bit more on music. I feel like the vocalists just infuse so much passion and emotion into each line it just blows me away and I can't wait for you to watch a live version. Borahae!

Definitely a favorite of mine too, but I really like the Live version. You should find that and watch it. It's so amazing to see the 4 vocalists of BTS singing it live and there is a Live band behind them in the shadows. Jungkook did the scatting (I think I got the name right) - you can see it for a short bit in the live, and also can see him and others doing the adlibs. They sing it with such passion. Great reaction and explanations. Thanks so much! Another great one is Truth Untold - also Live Version, and Pied Piper (which is all 7 of them).

This is such a great song and I agree with all the things you mentioned, for me it's so moody and dark, the sense of dread of the cello sounding kinda like the clock is ticking, it's so unsettlingly beautiful with the orchestration and vocals, together with the lyrics, masterpiece!
BTS need to do a Bond theme song for real, first thing that came into my mind when you mentioned Billie Eilish.
It took me a second listen to fully appreciate this song. I loved the strings in the background and the vocals! The lyrics broke me. This is my favorite vocal line song second to The Truth Untold.

That's exactly what it is. I can't explain what it is about this song that makes me absolutely adore it but I do. It has always been and always will be one of my absolute favourites. Whenever it comes on I just stop and listen, no matter what I am doing.
Yeah remember I addicted to House of cards, Butterfly when I first found BTS and they’re still in my streaming list for 6 years row. Overall BTS’s vocals, raps, productions no joke. Love this song and like your reaction man. Thank you.

This is one of my favorites for sure. I love the smoky jazz club vibe, but I also really like how it builds the intensity. My first introduction to this song was the live performance. So good! This is my top BTS vocal line song. I listen to this every day, multiple times, and it never gets old. It's got depth, it's got soul, it is darkly beautiful, the music is gorgeous (I'm an ex musican/dancer - violin/fiddle was my primary instrument and cello has always been my fav stringed instrument - and the strings on this get to me every. time. - for another one like that see Suga's First Love), the production is top tier - so good. so so good, and the lyrics are darkly beautiful as well. I too got excited like you the first time I listened to it. I'm into R&B, soul, funk, alt/indie, jazz (but not the too esoteric stuff that sounds like mosquitos hahaha), metal, rock, so yeah, it's not a surprise I love this I guess. The performance is lit. You should watch it even if you don't do it for the channel (I do watch the outros and was happy to hear you plan on doing it 🙂). "If you don't love this song, you are wrong." I agree. This is my personal favorite too! So you are telling me that I love this partly because of all the big band/swing that my grandmother exposed me to. I never put that together. Obviously it can be interpreted as a love song but I think for them it is also about the fragility of their success and the inevitable end of their careers as BTS.

I absolutely adore this song. It's just so dramatic. This, butterfly (prologue mix) and hold me tight; top 3 out of the most beautiful moment in life trilogy albums (if I don't think too hard🤌🏼). Strings are always the best way to lure me in
My only problem with it is, idk whether to sexy slow dance or bawl my eyes out.😭😭 It's torture in my mind. Im like, drowning in the sexy darkness of it and then i remember the meaning of a particular lyric and I wanna bawl. Gives my brain a whiplash. I hate it sometimes, but I cannot, ofc, hate this song. A masterpiece.
