I understand his speech, and I find Tobias' way of being on stage interesting. In the end it is always him, only free to express himself at 360 degrees without feeling limited by the hyperconsciousness linked to his appearance. If a tiger looks like a kitten, it will hardly feel comfortable roaring. Tobias appears as a kitten and knows that people expect him to meow, so without a mask he could never roar. So from a certain point of view, I think it can be said that the characters that Tobias brings to the stage are just another deep identity of the calm and collected man who speaks during the interviews

I understand the transformation he undergoes for the stage, but at the same time it breaks my heart a little bit. He's so handsome and charming, and all those characters come from within him. I would LOVE to see him play acoustic guitar and sing Ghost's songs on a stage. Reminds me of a very old SNL skit - You're good enough, you're smart enough, and goddamnit people like you! 🖤🖤🖤
I would die to see him sing at least one Ghost song... While I don't entirely agree with this, I prefer him to keep his personas seperate, I can however picture him doing a small acoustic set of their hits... Idk, for me it's hard to imagine him running around the stage and singing Ghost songs, it's hard to put his face to it, ya know?
I completely agree with you that I’m happy that it’s good for him to put on a mask and pretend to be someone else so he keeps his real self private but I also agree that he doesn’t realise that those characters come from within him and he’s not as shy and introverted as he thinks .
But I guess behind a mask and playing a character it’s easier for him to express his dreams and fantasies he says he’s thought about being since a child .
Shocking hows the coolest person on earth thinks he needs to pretend to be someone else to be a rockstar..
New fan here, Who I am a huge fan of is Buckethead, be careful diving into his music, there are about 500 cd's to chose from. We as fans don't even get these interviews.

Tobias is sexy okay. The theatrics of Ghost are amazing and his characters are charming, but I'd pay the same amount of money and get just as much enjoyment from a show where he's not dressed up.

when I see Papa or Cardinal, I don't see Tobias. but think at the moment these characters are real and would exist. you don't think about it being a mask. and that is very fascinating!

That's very interesting, because even though I know Tobias is the dude behind the greatness of Ghost, when I watch any of the live performances and the music videos, whenever he's dressed as Emeritus, I simply no longer believe that's him. I can't see Tobias when I see Ghost. But I can definitely see Ghost when I see Tobias.

I can't believe he is Swedish with that accent. My auntie is from Sweden and she sure sounds like it. How does he sound so North American??? Tobias has such an amazing voice!
I have met many Swedes that speak English with no Swedish accent, but I also know those that have accents.
He has a slight accent still. But I believe he has spoken both Swedish and English most of his life.
Tobias sounds fully Swedish, just not bad at English.
if you are swedish you can still tell like i can fully tell that hes swedish but swedes are really good with english like many can have full conversations ect when we are like 10 bc we have english in school from when we are 7 to 18
I'm not an english native speaker, but a linguistics enthusiast and my native language comes from latin (Brazillian Portuguese).
I find it very funny that when I sing along with Ghost songs, I expect Tobias to fully pronunciates some consonants (specially the Ts), like british ou most of non-native english speakers would do, but he omits them most of the time, like a true american.
For me, is almost impossible to sing the line "A fall of illusion, your zenith fades into eternity" without fully pronunciating the T in eternity hahaha

I love how he explains the danger of self-absorption as a "supernatural on-stage being." That is exactly what happens to a lot of people who become famous like that, they slip into their "supernatural being" mindset all the time, practically letting it consume them, and they become self-absorbed.
He doesn't know that he's perfect the way he really is. 😢

Like, to articulate his mask somewhere in the jawline. Old Hollywood practical fx masks used a dark piece of stretchy material to articulate the mouth. The visage is the likeness of a skull, so think of how the skull is articulated -- the mask could possibly be likewise articulated along the jawline. The lips can be made of a softer or thinner silicone.
Don't be fooled by my name; I'm Female -- using a male moniker for much the same reason Tobias is wearing a mask.
I've seen the NSFW 'Year Zero'. If that's really him at the end of the vid ... he's hung PERFECTLY!!
Also, I named my son Tobias (pronounced to-be-us), not Emeritus. ;) Apparently I think Tobias Forge is plenty wonderful in his own right. ^_^ Thank you so much for being truly authentic, Mr. Forge! You mean the world beyond this world to me!

I can see what he means. He wants to have a persona that is different from himself on stage. At the same time though I can understand the self doubt that he wouldn't be accepted as an artist as just being himself. Lots of people listen with their eyes. Kiss for instance. They took the makeup off and sold 2x more records than the last album with makeup in the 80s. I wonder if he records with the mask. The good thing is, I think he could literally walk out on stage with no costume and get just as much a reaction with or without the Papa mask.
Honestly he talks about how he has a problem with the mask causing vocal problems. If he cut the jaw out of the mask and the nose part hollowed even more and just painted that part, no one would care or honestly notice.

Those who get it, get it!, It's not about him feeling insecure, its about the power of a concept does, if a mask is tool for him to fully express himself, that's awesome! Some dont need much, He likes and enjoys being these characters, it's hard work but if he didn't enjoy it he wouldn't be doing it after people found out his identity and what he looks like. People saying they feel bad or a bit bad for him not to wear a mask it's pity, I dont think he wants your pity nor he gives two Fu-cks about it. There is power in dressing up, there is power in transforming because its fun and it helps him detach himself and THAT is expression! If he didn't enjoy doing these characters he would had stop a long time ago and wouldn't even do the story videos that are on the official ghost band UA-cam page.

Okay, I am a simple woman that LOVES the music of GHOST. And, I totally "get" what Tobias is saying here about how that HE must become "papa emeritus" or the "Cardinal" to be able to get up on stage to BECOME that "entity" in order to basically "put on a great show'. And, then, he goes ON about many things that show that Tobias is REALLY overthinking some stuff as for the whole "Image" issue about Papa Emeritus and the "Cardinal" in the band Ghost.
Now, as I have been watching this video, it seems that Tobias has been admitting that he is actually a MUCH BETTER singer than his mask will allow him to be.
And, as this video goes on about just how Tobias had chosen to use the whole "papa emeritus" character as a way for him to be able to "act through him" and become that "evil character" and throughout time, Tobias was able to take that EVIL "papa emeritus" character, and make HIM REALLY make him seem almost HUMAN. And, really Papa 3 (or was it papa 4?) REALLY has seemed to be REALLY quite CHARMING.
REALLY, here I am just going to say that Ghost is one of my favorite bands. I have REALLY been LOVING
OMEGA, as far as GHOST 's GHOULS, BUT, I do know that the Ghouls have been a many "wild and out" group if guys. And, I may totally F this up, BUT, I am gonna try and name mot of the ghouls from the "Prequel" cd. OR at least the latest bunch cruncha GHOULS.
Okay, so, the "Meaty Ghoul" is Chris Catalyst, aka "beefy boy", he plays the black guitar, and then on bass is Cosmo Sylvan, DRUMS Hayden Scott, LEAD GUITAR- Per Eriksson. Now, THIS is the lineup of the Ghost band AFTER the guys in Ghost as For the first 3 or 4 years lineup has been done with.
REALLY, MY favorite lineup of Ghost had been the original lineup.
AND, that Lineup had OMEGA and ALPHA as the ORIGINAL guitarists fronting the band.
As Ghost's music had been going on throughout the years and DECADES, us fans of the group KNOW that what we REALLY have to look FORWARD to, IS what Tobias and Ghost will be doing as far as making MORE new music.
about the mask thing it was wat drew me in tho whole mysteries and blabalab but every time I saw cardinal and didn't know it was tovias he seemed very tense, stiff idk

Parece que ele tem algum problema com autoestima em relação a imagem dele, e talvez seja um pouco tímido pra encarar o palco sem máscara. Tanto que parece que ele nem queria assumir o vocal na banda. Mas isso tudo faz ele ser mais querido ainda ❤
