This modification is quick, simple and inexpensive and it will mean that you can have silky smooth skin all year round.

I think the sensors break on these quite easily. Mine used to show that I was 6-7 white dots. A year later or so, it shows red absolutely everywhere. My face pale and yet still shows I’m too dark. I’m like an NC30/35. Braun should really work on a way to fix this, it’s just not right to pay £300-£500 for an ipl machine and the sensors conk out before the flashes even finish

Ok the real hack I need to know is how the darkness under your eyes looks so glamorous? How have you managed this? Like you literally look so good without a stitch of concealer and I’m here for it. Truly inspiring.
I am so glad this works!! I had this IPL 10 years ago and had great success with it. I needed to treat some remaining patches of hair on my legs so I bought another one but the sensors keep reading as if I am too dark. I have a summer base tan but definitely am not dark. I was in the process of sending it back to have the sensors checked! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to try it.

@@ridaamanat7527 i used white duct tape on pro 5; doesn't work. Keep in mind the machine in video is 6 yr ago. Pro 5 definitely gonna show red everywhere if scanning too fast.

Omg this just saved me a ton of money! I was thinking there was no way to fix this thing and was starting to shop for a brand new IPL machine. This totally worked and I'm so happy I can get more use out of this one!!
For easy way cut a small paper and put on sensor both this is my trick 😊

OK so the sensors for some reason go bonkers after a while.. But this trick is out of this world omg you are a genius..
I didn't use foundation.. Just found some tape at home that was yellowish and used it. Zaps like there's no tomorrow.. And thank you so much..

I'm using braun IPL since December 2018, and it was working pretty good for me but from 2 to 3 months the machine is not detecting my skin tone idk why 🙄

Thank you so much for this. Was about to throw my device away, you just saved me $$$. Had to modify just a bit (needed something a bit more opaque than tape), but your method definitely works.

I never comment on youtube videos but this was so helpful, you saved me hundreds of dollars with this hack, my gosh, I am so thankful. I have very light skin and very dark hair (so the ideal for this device supposedly) and it wouldn't flash on the areas of my skin that I specifically bought this product for. I was thinking I would have to buy YET ANOTHER IPL device because I thought mine was defective. This cheap and easy hack made it work! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Thank you! I've got a remington machine, and it doesn't have light sensors but annoying contact sensors which have to be pressed in and don't seem to work very well. But the masking tape plus some blu tac helped a lot!
I don't understand why it doesn't work for me. I thought it was because I was using the Silk Expert 5 but someone said it still worked for them. I use a full coverage foundation and tape it down but it still turns red. 😭
Same. I think braun crippled the pro 5 because it is a liability issue.
@@jk-er2zt I just found out there's a sock hack where you use a sheer nude stocking over the sensors and it works!! I just tried it on my braun 5

thank you very much! I was so tired of powdering my skin all the time, and this is so good. It's been like 5 months since I took silk expert pro 5 and from my 2nd use it started not seeing even my lightest skin areas and I'm not even a brunette lol.

It won't burn you unless you do a bunch of flashes in a row, but it gets warmer and warmer before it gets too hot. I'm very white so it ALWAYS goes all the way to to 10 when i use it

I have been scared to use it ever since especially anywhere near my face, i guess i need to get a pair of ipl protection glasses.
I like your videos. I did see another hack on UA-cam. The girl used a brown nylon sock over the machine and it worked. Her skin looked like a 5 or 6 on the Fitzpatrick scale. Saves messing about with tape and makeup.

Am I supposed to be shaving my face too prior to using the machine, upkeep of shaving face would be quite the challenge, since I am not used to shaving, and I am sure hair would appear before 7 days(or the next session). Thank You in advance :)

My devices won't work on my bikini area, which I'm so sad about, but I want to make sure it doesn't hurt me in long time use. Mama Niravane - I see you started using the Braun ipl about 4 years ago - do you feel it is the best on the market and are you still using it? Contemplating buying one.

This doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried different types of tapes so far and the lights are just always blank, regardless of tape color as well.
Same I don't understand why it's not working, even with a full coverage foundation and having the tape right up to the sensor

Yeah, my light sensor wasn't reading well either, it used to show 3 bars and now hardly 1, and I remembered watching this video when I first bought the ipl machine and I just tape some white tape to cover half of the light on each side and it works perfectly with 3 bars, if I cover the whole light with white tape, all of the lights do light up like she said and it's just too strong

Mine is activating not working got it a month ago and barely had a chance to use.

Is this hack useful for shorter areas than the flash window area between the 2 senses? For example, can i use it around elbows or on one finger? Or you believe, that i don't need this hack for managing shorter areas? By the way, you are very helpful and pleasing to watch! Thank you so much.

You have to use a light colour to cover the sensors

I have one of these machines. I have fairly pale skin, and thick dark hair due to PCOS. Will this work on areas such as chin and belly without burning me?

Since this video is 6 yr ago, I'm gonna assume the unit in the video is very old unit. Those sensors are very quick and even the power cord is removable.
Nowadays model pro 5 is exact opposite. Sensors are very slow and shows red most of the time if you don't know how to use it. Powercord is permanently attached. Old models are light years better.

I read that you need a new lamp. I would look online and see if you can order one.
This tip is fantastic! I was using my fingers to cover the sensor. It was a lot of contortion lol. Got one question mine stopped working, like the sensor lights are just off, it turns on, though. I can't find someone in my state in Australia to look at it. Thank you

You have a nice video but this hack no one should try it, it’s deactivated for a reason that is not burning your skin, and anyway it’s gonna be pointless because the light can’t recognize the hair itself to hit
Recognize the hair itself to hit? What do you mean by that? This is not intelligent, it is just a lamp. It does not recognize hair at all. It only checks if the little sensors are covered with a not too dark surface and that's it.
What she means is traditional IPL/Lasers are simply not able to safely treat darker skins as the light is not able to differentiate between the melanin in the hair and in the skin, this will result in burning.
Exactly that's why I was wondering if this hack did work on anyone'''s hair removal as well. Or its just flashing without any results.
Those stupid sensors are just so idiots who don’t understand when something is too hot go ahead and burn themselves and then sue the company. I had an original Braun without the sensor and used it safely for years until it died. Now I can’t find a replacement without these ridiculous sensors.

@@samch656 yes I do get spots on my face when waxing and also did when using the machine. Someone said that over time ipl reduces the sebum production so reduces spots but I still do get spots although this may be more hormonal than anything else x

When using the IPL on upper lip do you need to shave the upper lip before use? Also, do you need to shave areas around the neck before using IPL? Thank you.
sandra ferrer you do have to trim the area down so either a razor or trimmer. I personally thread my upper lip and then wait a few days before using the ipl machine 😊

Don't wax!!! Or epilate!! And any other form of hair removal that removes from the root!!! The light works by pulsing down the hair shaft into the root! If you rip the hair out from the root before hand it will have no effect what so ever! Just shave!!!
I have thick black hair on armpits and while using ipl for first time i don't see any visible results? Can you kindly explain how is it work for armpits?

Bought one of these. Worked for two months then stopped completely. Exchanged it for a new one. Two uses later won’t flash 9/10 tries. Tried the tape/foundation trick and now won’t flash at all, even after removal. I’m quite fair. Total waste of $300, which sucks because it actually works when it works, which is apparently almost never.

Thanks alot for this amazing hack. I have been using it the same way as you have shown for about a year now. However, the senser today stopped recognising the tape and the same issue i am facing like earlier with the red light. Donno wats wrong. Any suggestions??

Hi, sorry for the late response. No you do not need to wear sunglasses. I would look away while it is firing though.
