Invincible Season 2 episode 1 is now out and throughout this video we're gonna be going the easter eggs, comic book differences and our thoughts on the show. I've just finished up a major read through of the original work and I really want this breakdown series to not only talk about how it references the comics but also some of the differences they added in to change things up.
We also interviewed co-showrunner, executive producer and writer of this first episode Simon Racioppa. In it we talked about the new season and answered the questions that you really wanna know.

I love that it's not angstrom really blaming Mark it's that the apocalypse version of him and all the others who have an evil mark are taking the majority of his consciousness and reasoning and mark is the only person they could blame even though that was the best possible mark they could have gotten.
Yeah definitely a unique take on a multiversal villain, one that’s not even evil/bad at the beginning (although does have some sort of god complex) who is ultimately turned evil due to himself really from other dimensions and by his choice to remove the helmet
I also like how Eve becoming paralyzed in the alternate universe also parallels what happened to her mother in the bonus episode
We’re just not gonna talk about how Donald came back to life with no explanation

As someone who owns the comic but loves the direction of the show, i cannot emphasize how incredibly hyped i am for this Season of Invincible. Just saying this is gonna be the best multiverse super hero anime of the year! 🔥💯
I didn’t get spoiled so I didn’t even know anything about multiverses. I was so lost in the beginning ahah but I predicted that it was some sort of alternate reality

Mark tries on Bulletproof's costume in the TV show too, says he doesn't like the colours but does like the goggles, before getting his own "i"-conic design.
Invincible is a great example of "show don't tell"
You feel each and every scene without having to be told what's happening, it's all there.

That’s what I thought too. Lots of show don’t tell with what Mark is going through after his traumatic fight with Omni Man.
The "Boys and invincible can't have a crossover unless narratively it makes sense"
Dude went in a portal in his comic, came out in the marvel universe, then came back with some hint hint wink wink type easter eggs.

Tbh a crossover wouldnt be that good. The power scaling in invinable is way too bug for the boys. And the boys is more of a social commentary while invincible is a traditional super hero show

@@Frazier16 Doesn't have to be a proper crossover. Have Mark pop in on a Herogasm, or something that would just make him go "Yeah no, I'm good..." Or something. Play up the humor.
It can't happen...Omni-Man will literally make Homelander eat his heart before any of the Boys could get the chance in killing him lol.
I also liked how he called himself a modern Prometheus, someone with good intentions that wanted to better mankind with a gift of knowledge, like giving humanity the gift of fire, but then not only does he pay the price, but so does everyone. For Prometheus he ends being punished by Zeus and then the King of Olympus punishes mankind with the creation of Pandora from Prometheus’s brother and the opening of the Pandora’s box. Here with Levy, he is pretty much the same, he wanted to give this kind of multiversal knowledge to heal and save lives but in the end he was punished for reaching to close to the sun, like Ikaris, another Greek tragedy, and ends becoming this monster that will bring destruction and pain onto the very people he wanted to save.
Also, someone else commented this in another video, but Todd hugging Mark feels like a parody of when Flash Thompson tried comforting Peter Parker after Uncle Ben’s death in the Amazing Spider-Man.

It's so damn nice when the writers actually care about the IP they handle. Great crew behind Invincible!

The Boys and Invincible are definitely my top picks right now, just utter brilliance. I really love how evil Mark did it here.

The opening 'video' from the evil Invincible is extra poetic, because he basically makes the same sales pitch as Angstrom, of ending famine and curing cancer. It's subtle, but does basically show how they are 'not so different' as the cliche goes.
Is it evil to realize how weak humans are and you are the apex Predator of the universe and a take over would actually benefit humanity instead of being in the viscous cycle forever.
Except angstrom is not evil,he genuinely wants to cure the world's of all evil and I'll,he even sacrificed his self just because Mark was going to die, unfortunately the machine ended up making him crazy so there's that
Initially they are different as Angstrom didn't want to start his Utopia with bloodshed.

Angstrom (before attempting to gain knowledge from his other versions) could also be interpreted as egotistical as the vilturmites since he didn't consider sharing his vison with the rest of them and wanted to control the knowledge given to the other universes

@@darnell9806 i thought her powers seemed to be mentally based she even said she can see and rearrange atoms w a thought, so she technically doesn’t need to move to do that she technically should be able to regenerate her oh physiological structure with a thought. But maybe she doesn’t know yet and it’s part of the story I’ll let it play out to see what’s up. I just know she’s supposed to be OP just like Invincible.

I thought they kind of down-powered the alt-universe version of Atom-Eve. From what they showed of her so far in the main universe, she ought to be able to handle the Viltrumites all by herself if she ever gains full control over her powers. If that isn't going to be the case, they need to establish how those limits work because it seems like she could just turn Omni-man into a frog once her governor goes away.

When has she ever handled a viltrumite? Conquest? Peeled of his skin with restrictor removed and all her powers and conquest was gonna incinirate her if not for mark. Alternate Mark? She got f7cked and slept at hospital again would be dead if not for mark. Weaker thraxian viltrumites? SHE GOT SAVED BY OMNI MAN AND MARK. stop throwing sh1t and hyping her. Feel really bad for Angstrom, all he wanted was good, but ends up being what he so feared
Ego and using villains, goofy villains but killers nonetheless, led to his downfall. Tried to take shortcuts and thought he knew everything.

I recently rewatched Season 1, and the scene where Don and Nolan are blown up looked pretty fatal for Donald. There was no teleporter, but when we see him back in the new episode, i wondered how??

I had the same reaction. We saw him die. Unless he is a clone. Which seeing how we are dealing with the multiverse this season I doubt he is, as it would be easier to say this is a different universe.

@@DrangusKahnyes. They kill, they look down on humans, and their “empire” is one built off of genocide. Yes, those that survive benefit from it, but eventually the Viltrumites would deplete earth of all of its resources leaving a dead planet, no longer capable of sustaining life. Yes they are evil. It’s not like they’re doing this for any moral or just reason. They’re doing it to further their own ends.
Nazi scientists gave us so much new information about people and medicine and technology as a whole, but they’re still fuckin Nazi’s. They still heavily contributed to one of the most horrific tragedies in the history of this planet. Yes, they are evil. Without question.

The multiverse works here, the guy's using it to create utopias vs. The Viltrimites version. They even have reasons to destroy access to it. Omni-Man can actually say, "enough of this multiverse bullsht" 😅
Considering how Eve's paralysis mirrors her biological mother's fate it seems even more messed up for evil mark to do that to her. Is he planning on using her body to mother his children?

I kno its been 2yrs since season 1 but why have I noticed everyone is jus glossing over how Donald is back from the dead he had his spine crushed then blew him self up in an attempt to kill omni man
Given how we've seen Cecil reuse stuff like the Kaiju or the robots, I wouldn't put it past him to save mauler twins tech, and he just keeps a clone or two of Donald on ice.
Most people think of J.K. Simmons on his role in Spider-Man. I'm a huge fan of the HBO series OZ. In it, Simmons played the role of Neo Nazi leader Schillinger. The funny thing is that in the early episodes, Schillinger protected another prisoner named Beecher. At least, that's what Beecher thought after Schillinger appeared to save him from rape. After Beecher requested a transfer to Schillinger's cell, Schillinger's true nature emerged and Beecher became Schillinger's prison bitch. The parallels between Schillinger and Omni-man are very striking to me.
