I am big fan of sohail ahmed.. aftaab iqbal is very egoist.. people earlier have also exposed aftaabs egoism, infact I have also read an article of one the viewer on live show she also explained it well, he only likes people who are very chaploosh oh him.. he is very self centered
I'm 24 and have watched almost all of Aftab Iqbal's shows. He can be egoistic at times, but despite that, he is a mastermind. I'm impressed every time I watch his new show or listen to his insights. I've learned a lot from him, from his knowledge to his craft-he's fantastic at whatever he does. And yes, Sohail Ahmed is also a legend, and there's no comparison between the two. They should acknowledge that. However, in this 'controversy,' I'm more inclined towards Aftab Iqbal, not entirely, but yes, because I've seen his work extensively, I can understand him more than Sohail Ahmed.

Never commented anywhere, but heres my take on some of your points, i feel that your analysis didn't capture the thought process of characters rather the comments were taken at literally face value.
1. SA categorically said he had to refuse many acting offers since he cant travel out of Lahore, due to Hasb e Haal (hereinafter referred as HH). Theres a difference between a TVs paycheck and Film's/drama's paycheck. News channels don't make as much money as entertainment channels.
He's not under-valuing HH, otherwise he wouldn't have said that i stay put at my place where im respected.
2. Bewakoof was extreme word but choti buddhi wasn't extreme? Reducing a person like SA as a mere actor is not disrespect? Calling oneself as "Abba Jaan" multiple times is not extreme disrespect?
3. Guessing a person's name in 18th or 19th question is something else, but after you've guessed the poet, pretending he's just another name where you can't even remember his name right! While having family terms with the man? While your lineage had poets?
4. SA was right that he was grand even before HH. They all were grand before HH, they were just affected due to commercialism, which caused them disrepute.
Aftab Iqbal did take the craft out of crisis. But, that doesn't imply he "made" them.
SA was a legend even before. His work other than HH is far better than HH. HH is a family show which has its limits.
I'm 24, most prolly you're the same age as me and I'm surprised you didn't know of Sohail Ahmed before Azizi. Sorry but this just shows how maybe you're not SA's target audience, which was lot more desi, lot more Punjabi.

5. Aftab Iqbal's shows are often a pain to watch due to his eminent ego. I've seen people as knowledgeable as him. There are many. But your knowledge is only beneficial for your ownself with this attitude.
6. Also, the point where he said paise ko kutti nai kehte ye rizq e halaal hai was just an 'Islamic touch".

I am also in favour of Amma's take. While discussing this conflict with my husband, I was telling him how Amma would have had a very clear take on it. I am sure Amma's gonna take Suhail Ahmed's side (for most part). I, myself, am a fan of Aftab Iqbal's intellect. His andaz-e-bayaan and andaz-e-guftagu are beyond beautiful and impressive but there's no denying that his words reek of sheer arrogance and self-centeredness.

So here are my 2 cents on the entire Sohail Ahmad and Aftab Iqbal “controversy”. My parents watch both Hasb-e-Haal and Aftab’s show, I do not. And as an outsider I have found Aftab to be very arrogant, the way he talks down to the comedians on the show (yes its part of the act) but calling them “bhand” and “marasi” I find it very awkward. Sohail sahab ney bohat acchi observation ki hai k ghari laga ker chora ho ker baith ta hai. There is also a segment in Aftab’s show where does poetry and I have never heard him say poetry from anyone beside his father. Sohail sahab is right, k apnay baap alawa bhi kisi ko izzat do. Aftab ki her baat “main” sey shuru hoti hai aur “main” per khatam hoti hai. There is no doubt that Aftab is very knowledgeable, but the way he presents the information can come off as very “mujhe sab pata hai”. Sohail Ahmad bohat senior hain aur unki observation bohat accurate hai.

Point 1 : I think Sohail Ahmad was wayyy too well know before Hasb e Haal but yes the character Azizi was widely loved and appreciated. Maybe he became quite bitter and had gone too far while talking about Aftab Iqbal because he keeps on saying alot of things about Sohail Ahmad and he just blasted out like that. I think Aftab Iqbal needs to learn respecting the seniors, only then others will respect him too. This war of "Mein" was started by Aftab Iqbal so he should should learn to deal with it as well when someone replies to his hate comments. And its quite obvious from the tone of his video, how arrogant and full of himself he is,constantly selling himself. Idk how can someone talk like this, using words like "maut" and what not. And even when Aftab Iqbal left the show, we as audience kept and loved watching it. Because we loved the character Azizi. Yes kudos to Aftab Iqbal for writing and creating this characted but it was Sohail Ahmad who could do justice to this character. So Aftab Iqbal needs to calm down. And this last statement looks so stupid. Sohail Ahmad has ALOT of support. He is widely respected and loved.And despite the political differences, people should see and judge it as an unbiased audience. There's no need to make everything political. #feedbackcorner

See, SA sb had been working for a really long time and with extreme versatility and in theatre in this very field. He never said anything about AI. AI however on multiple occasions used the opportunity to demean SA sb. There is no point in mentioning on camera k wo mithai le k aya tha at some point in time, especially about a person as hardworking, as principled, as SA sb, unless you want to degrade someone in front of whatever audience is in front of you. Same with ‘live theatre’ comment, again in SAsbs absence, again on camera and among audience. The reason of AL and SA might be AI’s personal intolerance and changing channels, but at the moment, he took the opportunity to demean SA. Same with every other incident. SA sb said na k call me and make these comments in front of me. Why would AI not do that simply. Please be mature and thoughtful in your analysis. THIS coming from a highly educated person and a die-hard IK supporter. AI in his million books cannot match the experience and philosophy of tarbiyat SA sb just spoke about in this podcast.
