- Bad Girls is the seventh studio album by American singer and songwriter Donna Summer, released in April 25, 1979 on Casablanca Records. Originally issued as a double album, it incorporates such musical styles as pop, disco, soul, rock, funk and country . Bad Girls became the best-selling album of Summer's career, achieving triple platinum sales certification in the United States, and selling over ten million copies worldwide.
Trivia. The rhythm guitar and slick solo work is provided by Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, played on a guitar he just purchased at a local Guitar Center in a box marked “buy me” for $25.

America had a funny love-hate affair with Disco though, I loved it as soon as I heard it it's a pure classic.
people don't realize what a big deal that was that Donna won the Grammy in that category. popular music was very segregated during that time period, for an African American female singer to leave her expected r&b or pop genre was a huge risk. She basically paved the way for the generation after her to flow freely from genre to genre and be successful doing that.

It was the perfect Disco & Disco dancing song!! My generation loved it & always will!! We were so lucky to have Donna Summer as our Queen of Disco!! She had the most amazing & most perfect voice for it!! Love it!! She made us proud!! We have a lot to remember her by & to always be so grateful for!!

This was the leadoff single from her double-album opus, "Bad Girls." Meanwhile, the title track and follow-up single was at No. 46 in its second week on the Hot 100 chart and the 12" single combining both the long version of "Hot Stuff" paired with "Bad Girls" had just entered its 2nd of 7 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Disco Top 100 Chart. "Hot Stuff" earned Summer a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in the inaugural year for that category. "Hot Stuff," was Summer's sixth Gold-certifed single and her first of three to be certified Platinum.
