Does the Metta Center believe in _absolute_ nonviolence? I do not know how absolute can be justified because it seems to me that in certain extreme circumstances violence might be necessary to protect the vulnerable.

If it is with the intention to protect but not with the intention to harm then it's still non- violence . I understand it as the protective use of force.

    Suffer themselves 😉😉
But who made them suffering from those who did is worse of their life till the ends.
    That is also true.
My Grandfather and their Brother died in property disputes and as the Grandkids we suffer even worsen.
Concept is good for listened I think.
But if we teach to our people that TIT FOR TAT that would be better then that I think😂😂😂

The origins of the modern nonviolence movements: Christ (in the Synoptic Gospels) > Tolstoy writers about nonviolence based on the Gospels > Gandhi reads Tolstoy and implements his teaching > Modern nonviolence movement. Thus the origins of nonviolence are really in the Gospels. Yes, its true that Buddhists and Jains have always been nonviolent, but not for the purpose of social justice.

The principles of nonviolence precedes Jesus times. Its earliest origins are found in Hinduism (which Gandhi practiced), Jainism, and Buddhism. Yes he read Tolstoy and the Bible, but he didn’t just discovered the principle through them.

@@DearProfessorRF Nonviolence is not really found in Hinduism until much later times. Jainism and Buddhism do teach nonviolence though. However, my point was that Gandhi derived the theory of nonviolence from reading Tolstoy and Gandhi himself admitted as much.

This totally ignores the reality that not all humans are indeed subject to normal human psychology. Psychopaths narcissists violent people etc. are a real thing and I believe it’s a genetic issue most of the time. Or there has to be some kind of extreme developmental problem. So this whole non-violence thing ignores the reality that humans have to defend them self against various forms of monsters. So non-violence isn’t some kind of magic cure all for anything it only applies to normal human relationships which rarely have violent problems to begin with.

I encourage you to study thoroughly about nonviolence including the aspect of self-defense. It is much more complex and it has nothing to do with mere passivity.

I’ve seen far too many meet up ideological beliefs systems to fall for another one. The plain and simple truth is the people have the right to defend them selves with violence including killing other people and if you want to judge people that do that I think you’re just another judge mental ideologue that has no place judging anyone.

@@timmothyburke How about instead of "see far too many meet up ideological beliefs systems," you put them into practice it. BIG difference. Start from within your heart, your home, your immediate relations. They all reflect what each individual's life condition is at a given moment, whether is anger, arrogance, joy, etc
