- In today's video i'm showing you how to create 2 custom video presets for your Nikon Z50. I'll show you how to set up video settings for both A-Roll and B-Roll style shots. The best part, it should only take you a few minutes!
The Nikon Z50 is a capable video camera and I wanted to show you how I set my camera up for run and gun style shooting. By doing so, i'm ready to turn the camera on and start shooting footage at a moments notice! Don't miss a moment because your fumbling with your Nikon Z50 video settings, use these presets instead!
This video was shot on the Galaxy S21 and edited in DaVinci Resolve 16. I also used a Rode Video Micro for audio.
Hopefully you enjoyed today's content! Make sure to come back for more Nikon Z50 tutorials and more! Hit that Like/Sub button if you got some value from this video!

Really helpful, thank you! I'm excited for my z50 to arrive, so I can try out both of these custom presets for filming.
That's awesome! I hope you love it!
Tanya , you will love the z50, its a source of unending joy, you may as well think for going for the whole kit, 16-50mm and 50-250mm kit lenses with the body.
@@gpmishra4627 I've been really enjoying it, thank you! I went for the 16-50mm + FTZ kit. The FTZ was more of a priority for me, as a prime lover, than the 50-250mm. :)
I was hoping to hear about focus tips while recording with camera movement. I find the focus bouncing around a lot in video mode and especially during camera movement
That was very useful. Perhaps the most practical, usable description in this small duration. Thank you Zachary.
Hey thanks a bunch! Glad the video helped out!
To keep things consistent when shooting outside you might check into getting a variable ND filter too! I'm going to make a video about them soon so make sure to subscribe!
Thanks bro
Will use this settings tomorrow for a shoot
As a photographer, never really used my camera for a video 😂
This is a great start up info

...and this was exactly how I wished to save these two types of shooting modes in U1 and U2 and that too in the same sequence. Its really awesome!!

Thanks for your video. Please upload some video footage.
Check out the rest of my channel! Most videos were shot on the z50!
I would like to see the focusing setting as well!
Good point! For the purpose of this video I left it on the default AF-F mode. That's what I use most of the time.
Would these be good settings to shoot a video podcast? Thank you so much for your helpful insight
Absolutely! 24fps, 1/50sec f/1.8-3.5 (depending on scene) will get it done.
@@ZacharyEldridge dude you are the best! Thank you
Help me out with video stabilization settings the videos im shooting while keeping the camera in my hand are really shaky
If you're looking for ultra smooth footage you'll need to grab a gimbal. Handheld will always have some shake.
To maximize handheld smoothness shoot at 120 fps, slow it down in post production software, and apply stabilization.
Any idea why the 'Movie Quality' option under 'Movie Shooting Menu' is greyed out?
did you ever figure out why that was happening ? it’s also on my camera and i can’t figure it out :/
I tried to recreate the issue you are experiencing. I found that the option is only grayed out when shooting higher than 60FPS (100p/120p).
It seems resolved when you switch FPS to 60fps and lower.

hello i hope you can answer because the video is old but i have some issues i'm streaming with the nikon z50 and when i record the camera stop recording after 30min how can film 2 hour stray instead 30 min ? please answer me thank you 🙂
I think you'd need an hdmi situation to stream that long with the Z50 as it has the record time limit of 30min.
Might also look into a dummy battery solution as well
@@ZacharyEldridge okey thank you you
Thanks sir hindhi dining
What if I need to shoot video during the sunny day time, that 1/50 exposure not gonna work unless I stop down the lens by a lot. Do you have any tips on shooting video wide open with 1/50 on the street? Thanks!
Absolutely! To counteract the bright light you will want to use a neutral density filter.
You can grab them pretty cheap on Amazon. I believe the brand I got for my Z50 kit lens was the K&F concepts variable ND filter. Around $25!
It's basically sunglasses for your lens
@@ZacharyEldridge as I thought! Still was hoping to deal with it inside the cam but in vain:) thank you! I have a kit of square nd filters for long exposure shots purposes and gonna use them for video as well)
Has anyone had trouble Changing aperture.. mine won't allow me and I don't know what I am doing wrong :(
Is this really a good camera for taking 4k videos?
The 4K looks great! It’s easy to color grade when using the Flat Picture Profile.
It’s not 10 bit color, but really nothing in this price range is so that’s kind of a non-issue.
@@ZacharyEldridge thanks☺️
