I've just discovered your channel and Im finally commecting the dots of so many other things that I have read/ listened to in the audio book. Thank you so much for these AMAZING video analysis!!
The video is great, but the title is misleading I think, as long as you don't explicitly state that it is about IR. To me it looked like sth about Lock, Mill, Smith and the like.
Hi! When you mention liberals, like in the slide of Assumptions of Classical liberalism, do you refer to liberals from IR? I got very confused about the term Liberalism, if it has double meanings and how I can differ that?
In general, when I'm talking about liberalism, I am referring to the political philosophy of liberalism (meaning small government, emphasis on individual freedom, etc.). I generally try to use the phrase "progressive" when using it in the context of the left wing of American politics.
Yes, but they're closely connected. Technically idealism was an early form of liberal IR theory. Idealism emphasizes that foreign policy should be driven by the same ideals a country holds domestically, and that states can (and should) pursue frameworks rooted in justice. Liberalism is broader, emphasizing individual freedom (liberty), and includes other sub-schools like neoliberalism or liberal institutionalism. Hope that helps!
@noah zerbe can you please make a video and explain all this differences between idealism and liberalism and neoliberalism and institutional liberalism please that will help me in my exams .
.. . This is the best explanation of classic liberalism I have ever heard... Thank you! 🌷

Well done. I learned more than my professor's lecture.
Wasn’t actually the first use of flamethrowers, the flamethrower was first used to defend Constantinople and was made by a Syrian immigrant
