Love your playing. I just got this guitar in white blond. I didn’t get the one with the push pull knob , wish I had , I got the deluxe edition , didn’t know the player series had that. Oh well maybe next one. I'm 70 yrs old this year. Trying to refresh my style ,played top 20 stuff through the years ,don't read music. I love telle sound it fits my funky style blues and country. Loved your interview with Greg Cotche the other day.. subscribed and thanks.
Exactly who I was waiting for to demo this guitar. Everyone else who's demoed thus far & said "it just doesn't twang" had me wondering if the noiseless were just that bad. Nope, John did this demo justice. Even Fender's own demos weren't nearly this good. Heck they weren't as good as the opening to this one. Thanks John & Premier!
Im stoked. Just ordered one used from a big music chain here in canada. Been 15 years since ive touched a guitar and this thing seems to have a bunch of tonal variety, not to mention will look good hanging on a wall.
You're playing and reviews just keep getting better - thanks man. While I prefer non-noiseless pickups, 3-barrel saddles, and nitrocellulose lacquer finish, BUT you just sold me on that baby. I've been looking for a telecaster type guitar, which I lack at this time, and this may be the one. Cheers!!
What's the down side of noiseless pups in your opinion? This is the first guitar I have had with them, and I do like them, seem cleaner and more forgiving. Thanks in advance. 😊
Thank you for the clear explanation of how the pickup switching is laid out. I wanted to know that I could get that classic Tele bridge and neck combination. This thing is a beast at that price point.
I just bought the butterscotch, like most of us I have a strat, I have a tele, and I really didn’t need another, BUT I DID!! After thinking it over and hearing the tones, I pulled trigger and I’m so damn excited!!!! I should get it in a couple of weeks, I will advise, also the locking tuners!!! Damn this is an overall fantastic rig!
John has still got it. I love the way he palm-slaps the strings. I think he hears, and tunes into the sound from the slap to guide what he plays. my humble opinion.
Well JB, IMO your take is worth 10 other 'reviews'!! That Steve Earle interview was also just awesome!! I'm just an old guitar player and a big fan!! Great job!!! 8) --gary
I liked this guitar so much, I picked up two of them. Traded my Am Pro II Strat to get them. Couldn’t be happier. I have the Butterscotch and the Sunburst. I like the fatter neck radius and the noiseless pickups for playing live. I get the same 7 tonal options as my Am Pro II but also get Tele tones. Love it!!!
Been exploring the fender world, which is new to me, and im gravitating towards this. Brain says strat, but i just cant get excited about them, even the us made ones.
I was up in the air between this guitar and the Jason Isbell Tele. I was leaning toward the Isbell model, so this little review didn’t help clear anything up in my mind. Guess I’ll just have to get both. 🤣
John is a great player. I have an Ultra, the Plus seems cool. So many damn options now. Anybody on a budget, check out the MIM models, Mexican fenders and Squiers are good quality
I have a deluxe series Nashville tele, essentially the precursor to these. I had the 7 sound mod done on it and was surprised by how much the “all 3 on” pickup sound kicked ass. It’s really quite something.
@@AndrewwwJackson can't be much help to yah, I had my local tech do it for me - it uses a push-pull on the tone knob to activate the neck pickup on the bridge or bridge+middle setting, if that's helpful!
Copper tape inside the pickup routed holes. Just remove the pickups and line the cavity with the copper tape, do it for each one, should reduce most or all of the rest of the noise 😊
Good video John! Steve Earle rig rundown and a demo on the new Player Plus Nashville Tele? Good way to end a stressful few days! Thanks for the good playing John!
Love it. I've got an older Nashville Tele - doesn't have the feature with the tone knob. Maybe if I ever learn to play it well enough, I can justify trading up to the Nashville Player Plus.
I’m like traditional Teles and I own several. I just ordered one of these. Normally haul 2 teles (Fav and a spare) and a strat and I’ll see if I can just haul just my fav tele and let this one double as spare tele and be the strat when needed. If so it will save me and the tech a lot of time too.
Very cool. John you are making that guitar talk today. The tone is all over awesome. I do have to mention especially for noiseless pickups there is some noise. So maybe RWRP in the middle position gives some true noiseless options? IDK just thinking out loud 🤔
Folks, here is the truth. I used to be the biggest Fender Custom Shop dealer in the country. Every year they would come up with stupid ideas they ran by me, one was this "Nashville Tele". They stated that every year good bad or ugly they would have to just come up with any stupid idea, this being one of them. Do you really want to play good guitar? Don't listen to these hack "B" players and learn how to develop your ear first and foremost. You can put that in the bank and get busy...
Uber diverse ax with a smorgasbord of tones. Love their locking tuners. Now they just need to up the game on their color offerings as they are so dull and tired.
5:24 Really like this guitar, but it's strange that you seem to be getting a static noise even though the pickups are supposed to be noiseless. At the 5:24 time stamp when you remove your fingers off the fretboard. Is that normal and is there an easy way to fix that? Great review.
I knew you played guitar but dude you're killing it,you are one hell of a guitar I never knew you were that good ,you should be playing professionally with a well know band ,hell give garth Brooks a call and you guys form a band and I know you play rock styles as well, anyway great video and awesome playing ,stay safe god bless
I don't get why Fender doesn't contour the heel on more models. I get that some people don't mind it, and you may want the large heel for vintage spec. ......why why have it on a "player" guitar. I love the contour on my Jeff Beck strat.
@@johnsmith-ug5tp that push/pull wiring is super easy to add. Search 7 sound strat mod. I wire my nash teles using a 2-pole 5way switch so the middle position can be the normal neck + bridge. I have no need for a middle single coil on it's own, but I get why others like it. :)
I think come Christmas i may well treat myself. Also love 12 inch radius and like you the bridge much more stable comfortable with better intonation !!! Oh and btw i have a g and L s500 what a guitar that is .😊
John I wish you would answer my 4 questions about playability please without bias. Does the middle pickup get in the way of picking/playing the guitar compared similar to a strat or regular tele ? With the newer bridge, can or does your picking hand rest on or can it be supported like an old style tele bridge does ? Would you personally install a whammy/vibrato bar ? Best looking color ? I tried all the player plus line at guitar center and the Nashville felt like the best out of all of them Not the biggest fan of rolled edges but felt good on this guitar compare to the others for some reason
Thanks for the video review. Just one question does the switching allow for running the neck and bridge pickups in series? That’s how I have my Tele set up with a 4 way switch.
I still don't get why Fender doesn't wire Nashvilles with a 5-way super switch so you get neck/bridge in the middle position. Keep it simple and easy to understand for the traditional players. I have a mod that gives the middle position 3 options via a TT switch; 1, middle, 2 neck/bridge, 3 all three. It is the best solution I tried (patting myself on the back), position 1,2,4,5 are untouched by the TT switch. All 3 is really useful ;-) I also think the Brent Mason wiring is kinda cool FWIW
